Let's Roll Face 3

With the shiny new third instalment in the Anjunadeep compilation series having now been rolled out from Anjuna towers, Jimbo Cayzer delves through the tracklist and picks out four cuts from his mix on CD 2 for the now customary sampler EP. We begin with the hypnotic, whirring trails of Maor Levi’s ‘Devotion’, a richly textured prog powerhouse that’s full of melodic twists throughout. Next up is ‘Big Fat Kiss’ from Levente Marton, as the artist also known to Anjuna followers as Sunny Lax crosses the Beats-Deep border to create a  metronomic, fuzzy track that builds in a mid-point break of real serenity before laying on the grooves nice and thick thereafter.

One of the newest additions to the label are Polish outfit Kobana & Yane3dots; their contribution to this EP, ‘All Those Loose Things’, is a sleek, elegant and fresh slice of prog house, with a funky tinge some nice touches of piano. Lastly, we have a little something from Frenchman Roddy Reynaert, who teams up with compatriot Man Of Goodwill on ‘Brotherhood’. Prepare to lose yourself amongst the delightful, swirly melodies, rolling bass and retro vibes of this uncompromisingly cheerful track.

Jaytech - Djembe (Original Mix)

Inviting some of its most respected producers to collaborate, Anjunadeep celebrates its landmark 100th release with 'The Collaborations EP' featuring Jaytech & Soundprank, Michael Cassette & Komytea, Solarity & Stephen J. Kroos and PROFF & Answer42. 

The first of these mouthwatering match-ups sees label mainstay Jaytech team up with the fast rising Soundprank for 'Pranktech'. For fans of either artist, 'Pranktech' is everything you would hope for and more. A gorgeously paced, musical tech gem, 'Pranktech' slips into a lulling, hypnotic groove and gradually weaves in a complex myriad of crystalline, melodic textures that dance through the track with effortless beauty.  

Adding an instant contrast, Michael Cassette & Komytea's 'The Trigger' is a quirky, bass gurgling electro-house track that offsets Komytea's dark 'n' quirky tech stylings with Michael Cassette's twinkling 80s melodies in emphatic style.   Tech-master Stephen J. Kroos and Solarity then cook up a jackin' deep house groover on 'Bodywalk' before hitting us with waves of swirling, trippy melodies.

Completing an impressively diverse quartet of collabs, PROFF and Answer42 blend a funky acid groove with retro 808 percussion and bright, bubbling melodies on the brilliantly upbeat 'Cosmos'.

So one of my friends said this remix sounds like "Elton John in the back of a limo driven by Big Bird"... not really the reaction I was expecting, but I'll take it. I absolutely loved "Team" the first time I heard it, and after I still loved it after the 1000th time I heard it, I knew I had to remix it. Really proud of how this came out, even though it was one of the most frustrating remixes I've ever worked on - I almost smashed my computer a dozen times, and yelled at all my friends who told me that earlier versions sucked, even though they were right. So please, enjoy - and sorry neighbors for all the noise, I swear I'm not crazy, but no I won't turn it down.

PS If we're being totally honest, I loved her performance at the Grammy's, seizures and everything.

So every now and then there's a song that turns me into a six year old, just a super embarrassing giggling puddle of happiness, and makes me want to go roll around in a park and eat popsicles and stuff. "Rather Be" is that song. Couldn't help but want to remix it, but it took me awhile to figure out how to treat a song I think is pretty much perfect. About 1000 weird noises and squawks later, really psyched with how it turned out... Enjoy!

So I've gotten really into deep/future house lately, obsessed with guys like Tchami, Disclosure, Zhu, and of course Oliver Heldens. I love how funky and different their tunes sound, while still bringing a ton of energy. "Gecko" in particular is totally insane, but I couldn't help but imagining big chords and weird glitches underneath the main riff, and making it a bit more melodic. So, this is my tribute to the all the new deep house sounds, @oliverheldens sorry for defiling your groovy ass track and making it all noisy, but hey I can't help it. Also, shout out to @shibasan, I pretty much straight up jacked your "okay" sample cuz it's amazing.

so this is my first single. i love doing remixes, but my dream has always been to make originals that stand up with all the amazing songs i love... and this song is really special to me - it's one of the first times that i'm finally close to getting out what I hear in my head, of course with the help of Lyon Hart, an amazing singer-songwriter who I think is going to be a star. when i heard the vocal demo, i was blown away and yelling and stuff and my roommates were like wtf is wrong with you and i didn't care cuz i was so excited. 

the track is is a little grittier and heavier than some of my other stuff, but i think there's a kind of beautiful energy in starting from a dark place, and thinking to yourself "fuck it, i'm literally going to be the king of everything", and using that insane idea to pull yourself into the light. did that make sense? it totally made sense in my head. in any case, i'm so thankful for all the support i've gotten and so so so excited to be putting out original music, and this is just the beginning of a ton of (hopefully) great original stuff coming soon <3
