German duo minds&machines return to Anjunadeep with their four-track EP ‘Always’. 
Primarily drawing on influences of garage, electronica and restless ambient, minds&machines productions have been released on labels including Diynamic, Astralwerks and Polydor Records and seen support from the likes of Solomun and Lane 8.

Title track ‘Always’ opens the EP, leading with garage-inspired beats whilst ‘You’ favours ambient melodies. Rounding off the EP are ‘Saved’ and ‘Resurrected’, respectively spotlighting broken beats and textured synths.

London duo My Friend first hurtled onto the scene when their unsigned, unreleased tracks debuted on Danny Howard’s BBC Radio 1 ‘Future Fire’ as ones to watch in 2018.  The following years have seen James and Archie build upon these early achievements with releases for Anjunadeep, Stress Records, Nothing Else Matters, and Street Tracks.

Via euphoric melodies and deep and driving tunes, their authentic sound blurs the lines of house, techno and progressive.  On their second single for Waze’s Street Tracks label, My Friend collaborate with The Pressure (Undisputed Music/Mirror Ball Recordings) for the lead track ‘Threaded’.  Elevating piano riffs and fathoms deep bass establish the epic mood, as a contemplative vocal delivers the right amount of emotion for a deep and delicious peak time track.

Accompanying track ‘Shimmer’ is equally as gargantuan, as feel-good vibes are piled on heavy, using well times drops and rolls to accentuate this pleasing melodic banger.

My Friend - Threaded (feat. The Pressure) [clip]

Release twenty-nine on Manjumasi comes from the young German producer Bookwood. Following on a string of notable releases on imprints such as URSL, Kindisch and Cosmic Society, Bookwood once again showcases his sensitive approach to composition and production, smoothly blending indie-pop electronica vibes with a more dance-floor aware deep house sensibility. The three originals all feature gently floating vocals with shimmering synth lines and sturdy rhythm sections, spanning both traditional four to the floor as well as a bit of breakbeat revival.

First up on remix duties is South African producer Fka Mash, who turns in a super lush and trippy interpretation of One Last in his trademark Glitch Dub style. His detuned take on the bassline and slowed down groove are absolutely hypnotizing. Last but not least is a remix of What I Think About from Naveen G, who raises the dancefloor energy level with edgy organic percussion elements, and seriously deep rumbling sub-basslines.
