Sensational British/Dutch trio Cubicolor share brand new single ‘Summer & Smoke’ on July 27, from their forthcoming album ‘Sometime Not Now’ out October 28 on Anjunadeep. 

Cubicolor are a British/Dutch three piece that lie somewhere in between the electronic and indie genre, consisting of Ariaan, Peter and Tim hailing from notably different backgrounds, all with very successful previous musical experiences behind them. A powerful sense of cohesion is at the very core of Cubicolor, with each member of the group bringing equal measures of musical knowledge. Together, their collective expertise provides an extra sense of perspective, talent and inspiration to Cubicolor’s unique, electronic fusion, with a real intuitive flair.

The latest release from the trio titled ‘Summer & Smoke’ was co-produced by &ME, part of the acclaimed Keinemusik collective who produced a number of tracks on Drake’s #1 album ‘Honestly, Nevermind’, and has proved to be a vibrant electronic taste of what’s to come. ‘Summer & Smoke’ has an evocative underground feel to it, reflecting the groups’ musical abilities and knack for creating dancefloor moments. Alongside ‘Summer & Smoke’, Cubicolor have also shared the title of their upcoming album ‘Sometime Not Now’ that was inspired by the concept of taking your chances when life presents them to you, along with the thoughts of hope and regret, and the constant battles of risk and reward. Cubicolor member, Peter [Kriek] explained: “To get the right answers, you first need to ask the right questions.” In a statement that summarises the album. ‘Sometime Not Now’ as a construct is an album filled with introspection, self-reflection and critical thinking, whilst on a musical level is bold, expansive and a big statement from the British/Dutch trio in claiming their place among the musical elite.

The ‘Prospect EP’ is three-track collaboration between the acclaimed Nox Vahn (fka Fairchild), and British-born rising talent Marsh.

Opening with distant wildlife sounds, an unassuming intro gives way to colossal pitch-bending synths in ‘Prospect’. ‘Follow Me’ sees the pair collaborate with American singer-producer Mimi Page to deliver a dream-like arrangement, whilst ‘Serena’s Garden’ (as heard on Anjunadeep 10) concludes the EP with ghostly vocals atop a backdrop of field-recordings.

Simon Doty made his label debut last year on Anjunadeep Explorations 11 with the delightful ‘Sama’. Quickly following this, Simon featured on Anjunadeep 11 with ‘This Time’, a collaboration with fellow Canadian vocalist Forrest, and now the second track on his new ‘Airtight EP’.

Consisting of three genre-jumping tracks, the ‘Airtight EP’ demonstrates Doty’s versatility in the studio. Whilst ‘This Time’ introduces a warm enveloping soundscape, title track ‘Airtight’ picks up the tempo in a pumping anthem suited to early morning dance floors. In another change, ‘Noveria’ plies fluttering arpeggios and vocal chops in a whimsical finish to the Canadian’s debut EP.

One of the most exciting new artists on the storied Anjunadeep roster, UK-bred / Cincinnati-based producer Marsh (aka Tom Marshall) soars into autumn with the release of his new album ‘Lailonie.’

The LP is a testament to the healing and spiritual power of music in the face of tragedy, coming together in the wake of the unexpected passing of a beloved family member. 

Written over the past three years, the album is inspired by this and other impactful life experiences, along with some of the beautiful places Tom has visited whilst producing the album.

“Lailonie’, pronounced ‘Lay-lah-knee’, has been a safe place for me to express a multitude of feelings, moments and memories I’ve experienced over the last three years. The album is a series of snapshots taken at different points as I’ve processed moving to a new country, getting married, traveling to different places. I’ve also experienced the pain of loss. We unexpectedly and suddenly had to say goodbye to Maddy’s Mom Carme at the end of 2018. I’ve had to rapidly learn how to love and stand by Maddy as we process this pain. We live in a world with so much going on. I think it’s important to have a safe place where you can go to catch your breath, process life and grow.  Lailonie has been that place for me. I hope it can be that place for you.” 

‘Lailonie’ features collaborations from a wide array of talented artists including organic house music producer Wassu, soulful, jazzy vocalist Leo Wood, UK producer Phenoir, Cincinnati-based vocalist Mariel Beausejour, Austin-based songstress Mimi Page, and progressive house producer Forerunners. 

Marsh’s music has been supported by the likes of Joris Voorn, Kölsch and Rufus Du Sol, along with Pete Tong, Danny Howard and Phil Taggart at BBC Radio 1. On the live side, Marsh has performed at esteemed venues on both sides of the Atlantic, including Printworks London and The Brooklyn Mirage.  
With ‘Lailonie’ Marsh continues to tell his story of healing and inner peace through his enchantingly deep and progressive sound, and looks set to follow in the footsteps of fellow Anjunadeep alumni such as Lane 8, Yotto and Ben Böhmer on his rise to the top of the dance music world.
