Following in the footsteps of Anjuna superstars Mat Zo, ARTY, ilan Bluestone and Grum, the tenth instalment in the legendary Anjunabeats Worldwide compilation series leads you to the darkest of dance floors; an underground techno and trance trip courtesy of US-based duo Fatum.

Ubiquitous on Anjuna over the last decade in various guises, Bruce Karlsson and Daniel Davis have been responsible for an abundance of catalogue classics.
Bruce was an architect of the electro-tinged grooves that made Norin & Rad a tour-de-force throughout the early 2010s with the likes of ‘Bloom’, ‘Pistol Whip’ and ‘Thundercat’. Dan, crate-digger and intricate melody maker as Judah (w/ Chris Nelson), responsible for the likes of ‘Boss Fight’, ‘Nomad’ and ‘Zero-Day’.

Always found at their best together, Fatum launched as a quartet in 2015 alongside Chad Newbold and the sorely missed Bill Hamel. Boisterous floor fillers ’Chocolate, ‘Love On A Real Train’ (Tangerine Dream Cover) and ‘All In’ followed, the latter reworked by Above & Beyond in May 2020.

Anjunabeats Worldwide 10 is a 21 track journey championing the past, present and future sound of the label. There are five original productions from Fatum themselves, including collaborations with Jaytech, Mars Atlas, LYCA and re:boot. Mainstays of the Anjunabeats family Mat Zo, Genix, Grum, ALPHA 9 and Sunny Lax are present, while Anjunabeats Rising graduates Naz and Alex Sonata & TheRio have their first outing on a label compilation.

Fatum also bring cult favourites back to the dance floor, reworking Andy Moor and Adam White’s ‘Whiteroom’ and Above & Beyond’s ‘Alone Tonight’ - the sought-after Alexandra Palace remix which first aired nearly a decade ago.

Anjunadeep is excited to welcome the GRAMMY-nominated band Little Dragon for their stunning remix of OLAN’s ‘Wake And Return’, taken from her recently released debut album ‘Contra’.

Since their 2007 debut self-titled album, the Swedish quartet have established themselves as one of the world’s most beloved bands. Unafraid to experiment and continually evolve their sound, Little Dragon have released six studio albums, each genre-defying as the last, whilst also collaborating with the likes of Gorillaz, SBTRKT, Flume, De La Soul and many more.

In their charming re-imagination of OLAN’s lead single, Little Dragon add their trademark mix of acoustic and electronic instrumentation, plying warm synth lines and playful staccato melodies with OLAN’s ear-catching vocal line.

The culmination of many months in solitude, ‘Contra’ began as a natural form of escape and expression for OLAN, helping her find peace amidst the years of uncertainty brought on by the pandemic:

“‘Contra’ is an album I wrote as a way to find some peace with my life having no definitive purpose at the time. I often try to attach meaning to everything I encounter. I force myself to re-live memories. I’ll try to unpack them and see how I could change my reality if I had just been a better person.”

The album has accrued over a million streams since release, and has been supported by KCRW, KEXP, SiriusXM, DJ Mag, and Beatportal and currently sitting in the top 5 of the NACC Electronic charts. Little Dragon’s remix of ‘Wake & Return’ is set to premiere on KCRW and will land on Anjunadeep July 26.

Cosmic Tiger follow on from their far-reaching 'Messages Volume One' compilation with the psychedelically-charged ‘Planetarium EP’ from label founder, Rocco Universal.

Fresh from his recent ‘Somewhere Else’ appearance on Soul Clap Records, DJ, producer and journalist Patrizio Cavaliere once again adopts his Rocco Universal production moniker, journeying deep into astral realms to serve a scintillating set of floor-focused grooves. His intriguingly eclectic DJ sets regularly veer into unexpected territory, and these diverse influences delicately infuse his varied and gently off-kilter productions. Planetarium EP arrives via the Cosmic Tiger label metamorphosed from the Southeast Asian music blog he launched back in 2019 – a platform poised to awaken from pandemic-enforced slumber this summer.

The EP kicks off with the title track, ‘Planetarium’. Here, Rocco Universal embraces his Italo roots, channelling nocturnal Mediterranean heat into a heartfelt outpouring of hallucinogenic space disco. Thick Moog bass powers the cut over a tight disco rhythm as analogue chords and lead motifs intertwine. Detroit firebrand Scott Hess enlivens the cut with his funk-flecked rhythm guitar line, before a stirring middle section shoots for the stars over a rapturous, conga-led build up. Cosmically rooted and designed to move dancers, this is club-focused music with a contemplative core.

Next, the mesmerising synth threads of ‘Assuage’ arrive as an opioid-fuelled slalom into deep house territory, with Rocco serving a mesmerising take on four/four profundity with a discreetly hallucinatory flourish. Flanging bass relentlessly rolls over crunching drums and loosely-woven synth patterns, with ethereal pads caressing altered vocal stabs as the tripped-out arrangement mischievously diverges. Forged in the psychic depths and steeped in cosmic intention, this hypnotic groove is built for backroom meditations.

Finally, ‘Sleepwalking In Silom’ won over an esteemed selection of DJs and collectors when it appeared on last year’s ‘Messages Volume 1’ compilation, making it a fitting closing moment to the EP. Deep, low-slung and brimming with atmosphere, the altered state groove chugs through waves of tripped-out effects and funk-informed melodies, conjuring the mysterious electricity of the Bangkok neighbourhood after which it takes its name.
