Deeparture is an established producer from The Netherlands who is been causing quite a stir with his melodic influenced driving productions. He has released on labels like Cinematique, Soulful Techno, One of a Kind, Strange Town Recordings amongst others, and has gathered massive support from the world’s finest DJ's.

ICONYC are pleased to welcome Deeparture to the label with his brand new 3 track 'Black Box EP’ to warm the hearts. We kick things off with 'Tail Strike’ which features an amalgamation of smooth bass tones, subtle drum programming, a cleverly chopped samples and intricately weaved chord progressions, building to a beautiful breakdown before gradually rebuilding the elements to an unrelenting crescendo of breathy synth licks, chord stabs and an ever-warped bassline.

Next up is the title track ‘Black Box’ which is a stripped back affair utilizing a hypnotizing vocal sample as the basis of the track underpinned by a staccatoed bass that gradually eases its way to the breakdown of breaks percussive elements before unleashing into a rising melodic hook intertwined with the infectious groove that fades in and out for maximum effect. Fantastic stuff!

Last but not least we have the outstanding 'Crosswind'; that starts to delve into deeper territory, which sees lush pads fused with chord hits underpinned by Deeparture's trademark bass patterns, before all manner of varied melodies weave in and out of the stereo field to close out this wonderful 3 track release in style. The EP’s title track sees the Belfast-born, Ibiza-based producer thread classic house piano stabs and hard-hitting percussion under Meliha’s alluring topline. The Kuala Lumpurn singer’s powerful vocals are then further accentuated in the dreamy ‘beatless' mix of ‘Headspace’. An obsessive producer and fervent performer, Clarian’s decade-long tenure in the underground electronic scene has seen the Canadian play Burning Man, ADE, Off Sonar, Chalet, and Kater Blau, and collaborate with the likes of Guy Gerber, Seth Troxler, Felix Da Housecat, and Tiga. This November, Clarian adds to his extensive catalogue with the mesmeric three-track ‘Fly Away EP’, his second EP on Anjunadeep. 

Opening title-track ‘Fly Away’ pays homage to the synth-pop influx of the late noughties with tinges of Cut Copy and Hot Chip, whilst ‘Pale Blue Palm Trees’ takes a heavier turn, favouring a driving 707 drum arrangement. Final cut ’Tropical Stars’ sees Clarian lean into his deep house sensibility with a hypnotic track anchored in detuned chords and an addictive shuffling lead.
