A showcase of fresh talent from the global electronic scene, Anjunadeep’s Explorations EP series returns for its eighteenth instalment, featuring VONDA7, Tagavaka, Denney, Cornelius SA & Sebee, SQL, Nacho Varela and Cruz Vittor.

Kicking off the compilation is Polish producer VONDA7 with ‘You’re My Swiss Watch’. Having garnered support from the likes of Sasha, Anja Schneider, Camelphat and Laurent Garnier, this new production is a confident fusion of uplifting vocals and bouncing basslines.

Following the release of ‘State Lines’ on recent label compilation Anjunadeep 12, Glasgow-based producer Tagavaka returns with ‘Sky’, showcasing his textured sound design that has earned him support from Adam Port, Lane 8 and Nora En Pure.

Next up, British DJ and producer Denney marks his Anjunadeep debut with ‘Kamikaze’. With releases on Hot Creations, Knee Deep In Sound and Rebellion, Denney delivers a hard-hitting deep house track. 

South African producers Cornelius SA and Sebee bring their melodic track ‘Silhouette’ to the EP, reaffirming why they’ve respectively been supported by Eelke Kleijn, Nick Warren and fellow countryman Black Coffee.

A skilful blend of evolving synths and intertwining melodies, Dutch producer SQL delivers ‘Lagom’ - a track first heard on James Grant's mix for Anjunadeep Edition #345. 

Closing the EP is the collaborative cut ‘Kush’ from Argentinian producers Nacho Varela & Cruz Vittor. Characterised by syncopated basslines and percussive-laden grooves, the duo demonstrate their long-standing chemistry as producers that have seen them release on labels including All Day I Dream and Shanti Radio Moscow.

German duo minds&machines return to Anjunadeep with their four-track EP ‘Always’. 
Primarily drawing on influences of garage, electronica and restless ambient, minds&machines productions have been released on labels including Diynamic, Astralwerks and Polydor Records and seen support from the likes of Solomun and Lane 8.

Title track ‘Always’ opens the EP, leading with garage-inspired beats whilst ‘You’ favours ambient melodies. Rounding off the EP are ‘Saved’ and ‘Resurrected’, respectively spotlighting broken beats and textured synths.

The cascading and flowing intro leads into a tantalizing build-up. The introduction of chanting, soaring vocals guides the listener into the signature catchy synth riff. As the listener is full of joy, an explosion of that riff collides with a powerful kick drum. This results in a beautifully mixed, euphoric trance track that provides a serious dose of the feels. To the trained ear, it screams mini-anthem, but we’re not putting this delightful track in a box. Upbeat and generating happiness from the first intro, ‘Light Years’ is truly an achievement for the Israeli-born DJ.

Through all his successes, he remains humble and genuine, as evidenced by his quirky social media posts. Having struck major chords with ‘Juno‘ and ‘Just Listen‘ earlier this year, he continues his run of good form.

‘Light Years’ should climb the ranks quickly in 2018. The classical trance melody combines with an accessible new age sound that only Levi could concoct. You’ve officially been put on alert – Maor Levi is a force to be reckoned with.

This Autumn German producer Ryan Davis returns to Anjunadeep with his exquisitely crafted mini-album ‘Home’. Awash with analogue sound design, organic field recordings, and digital sampling, each track on Davis’ mini-album unites the man-made and the natural to evoke his understanding of Home - something that is simultaneously within us and around us. 

Opening number ‘Shift' represents all that is constantly changing as we traverse time, the subtle alterations in our day-to-day reflected in the track’s understated piano lines and immersive sound design. Conversely, lead track 'Alow’ is indicative of those vast emotional shifts that are often felt more than they are seen; "it is about feeling powerless in one moment but then having the power of starting all over and do it better this time.” The swelling tension and release heard in Davis’ ‘Ode’ is a short testament to the unsurity of life - "the breakbeat and the noises describe that life isn't a straight path but more a way with a lot of options to choose where to go next, and things we can’t predict”. Inspired by the raw power of nature, ‘Obsidian’ is the clubbiest cut on the release, utilising harsh field recordings to mould hard kicks and percussion. The arbitrary cuts and breaks in ‘Cyclus’ symbolise the random, cyclical nature of our lives, whilst ‘Dimmed’ is pure, steady piano piece, indicative of the sense of closure before we finally fall asleep.

At once both intimate and complex, ‘Home’ is a deep demonstration of the Davis' penchant for meaningful songwriting and evocative composition, out October 5th on Anjunadeep.
