Live recording from the third installment of NIGHT BASS on April 3rd at Sound Nightclub with AC Slater (Trouble & Bass, Party Like Us), Shift K3Y (Columbia Records UK), Ruff Hauser (Cats & Boots Records), Petey Clicks (Party Like Us), and Bones (Gotta Dance Dirty).

On Thursday, January 30th, we launched NIGHT BASS at Sound Nightclub – a new event series curated by AC Slater and his Brooklyn-based record label Party Like Us. LA Weekly called Night Bass "The Most Exciting Party in LA" and BPM Magazine raved about the monthly saying it is "The Most Exciting New US Dance Party". We wanted to capture the vibe of NIGHT BASS to share with everyone. And so, in the spirit of the old skool rave "tape packs" of the 90s, we're making these special live sets available each month after NIGHT BASS here on Soundcloud.

Shift K3Y - Live @ Night Bass April 2014

Bones has been a fixture at Night Bass since the beginning. The Gotta Dance Dirty co-founder is a ubiquitous presence in the Los Angeles underground and a resident at Exchange downtown. His debut mix for THUMP is an hour-long treatise on moody house tunes, the likes of which he'll be dropping when the Night Bass crew takes over Sound nightclub in Hollywood once again this Thursday. This week, Bones will be joined by Petey Clicks, Jubilee, Hotel Garuda, and AC Slater himself. 

The mix boasts a knowledge of house music history along with a deep-set collection of tunes from rising artists. The likes of S-Man and Sonny Fodera sit alongside the likes of Hotel Garuda and Bot with an effortless air. Elsewhere, Cassian, Breach, Jack Beats and Gorgon City make appearances.

Taken from Pete Dougherty aka Moon Boots’ acclaimed debut LP ‘First Landing’, released last summer on Anjunadeep, soulful vocal groover ‘Power’ (featuring Black Gatsby) now receives the remix treatment from two of Pete’s musical influences. The first sees the long awaited return of legendary British producer Mylo with a signature remix featuring his trademark disco-infused sounds, while Cratebug, a hero of the Chicago underground, turns in a high energy techno rework equally suited for peak-time and the after hours.

Anjunadeep’s latest signing is Swedish producer-composer Bård Ericson, aka boerd. He marks his arrival with the release of his breathtaking mini-LP, ‘Static’. Featuring the singles ‘Blind’, ‘Fragment II’ and ‘Void’, ‘Static’ is available now both digitally and on vinyl.

With influences ranging from Burial, Bibio and even Aphex Twin, the 26-year-old has developed a style that pushes the boundaries of atmospheric electronica with stunning attention to detail. Building his sound from samples he records himself, Ericson conjures a euphoric mix of subtle soundscapes that simultaneously breathe and play in awe.

More than an insular producer, Bård takes influence from his career playing double bass with the Swedish Royal Opera, Swedish Radio Symphony and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestras. His experience as a player in a significantly larger ensemble gives his music a unique vision and his arrangements a focus not easily realized by the typical bedroom producer.

His first work since signing with Anjunadeep, ‘Static’ is compiled of six meticulously crafted tracks. Amongst the release’s many highlights are the two vocal-led singles ‘Blind’ and ‘Void’. The former sees Bård debut his own vocals while on the latter the producer teams up with friend and fellow professional musician and producer, Ellen Arkbro.
