San Francisco’s Luttrell shares his latest EP ‘Music For My Memories Pt. II’. The second in a trilogy of works to be shared throughout 2021, the forthcoming EP follows on from the success of lead single ‘Operation Midnight’, which saw support from Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1. 
  
Since launching his Luttrell project in 2016, he has become an an Anjunadeep fan favourite, and produced some of the label’s most memorable moments including ‘Intergalactic Plastic’, ‘Contact’ and ‘Need You’, which all won resounding support from BBC Radio 1’s Danny Howard, Annie Mac and Pete Tong. The past three years have seen Eric release two acclaimed LPs, his debut ‘Into Clouds’ and follow up ‘Lucky Ones’, along with a wave of well-received singles and remixes for the likes of Moby, Jai Wolf, Catching Flies and Above & Beyond; amassing him 55 million streams across his catalogue to date.

Astral Records continues the summer season by welcoming PARALEL back to the label for his debut EP. Born in Valencia but now based in Ibiza, Spanish artist PARALEL first emerged in 2018 with releases via Dear Deer, Phobiq and Pursuit. Immediately recognized for his edgy melodic sound, PARALEL would go on to showcase his music with some of the genre's trendist imprints in Beatfreak, Eleatics, Infinite Depth and Somatic Records, while world class DJs Solomun and Tale of Us chimed in with support. Having made his Astral Records debut last year as part of the Celestial, Pt. 2 collection, PARALEL now makes a welcome return to the label for his debut EP 'The Man In The Secret Room', alongside a remix from Ivan Masa.

Getting underway with 'Reincarnation', PARALEL enlists the vocal talents of Davide Famularo for a supreme slice of melodic house. Remarkably powerful, its dynamic groove commands attention, moving through rolling contours and rhythmic pulses, while Davide's soulful chops steal the air amidst colourful synth phrasing, and a dramatic break which is sure to command the full attention of your dancefloor.

The lone interpretation of 'Reincarnation' is provided by Ivan Masa who also makes his label debut. With a career that spans the better part of two decades the Italian artist has forged a resonant worldly sound which focuses on inventive use of melody and rhythm. It's this fresh approach which has seen the Caserta resident showcase his music via ATLANT, Diynamic, NOTTURNA, Stil Vor Talent and more, while world class DJs such as Solomun and Tale of Us have been steadfast supporters along the way. Having made his debut on label affiliate Movement Recordings earlier this year, Ivan now adds Astral to his resume with a thrilling take on 'Reincarnation'. Drawing on the sensibilities of the original, the Italian artist reworks the foundation with dynamic kick drums and hypnotic rhythms. Resonating perfectly against the club-friendly backbone are dramatic stabs and enlightening vocal phrases, while a tense break perfectly preludes an electric finale.

Companion piece and title selection 'The Man In The Secret Room' rounds out the release with a deeper yet equally engaging journey. Enticing from the start, its warm grooves and clustered arps marry perfectly for emotional dance floor moments, while a break of divine textural bliss perfectly segues into a finale of clattering percussive and otherworldly effects.

Happy to share a new recording from Kater Blau, Berlin. 

People fly all over the world to go to Kater for a reason. It’s a club focused on the music, focused on the moment, focused on the experience. It attracts the right people, who go for the right reasons. I love playing there. 

This lets me truly DJ in the moment. No thinking, only feeling. And this recording is a slice of what I’m trying to express through music, sitting outside a box: not just house, not just organic, not just progressive, not just melodic house/techno, not just tech house (or deep tech or whatever we call it)…

…a little bit of everything, as long as it flows and we all dance. 

As a side note, I’ve been getting more and more comfortable playing some of my own unsigned productions, so you’ll find a few tunes you haven’t heard from me before.

Parties4Peace presents a special mix by our guest artist Lauren Ritter for our second podcast series !  We invited Lauren to play for Parties4Peace in New York City and she joined us for our 15 Year Anniversary in Japan at Contact Tokyo.  Read below for our exclusive interview with Lauren just before our tour  : 
 
>> Parties4Peace is celebrating our 15 year anniversary!  What motivates you to play for Parties4Peace ?

Emilie McGlone's long-standing commitment to using music as a tool to initiate social change is admirable, and this is what inspires me to play for her. Whether it's in New York, Tokyo, Chile, or on the Peace Boat, she's constantly exploring new ways to bridge musical cultures, and I'm thrilled to have been invited to celebrate this milestone anniversary with her.

>> How would you say that the Music & Art Peace Academy project to educate youth can contribute to creating a culture of peace in the world ?

Learning an instrument at a young age has so many positive benefits. As an individual, it cultivates a strong work ethic & a deep sense of self worth. Playing with other musicians (orchestra, band, choir, etc) teaches you to respect & value the talent of others. More importantly, playing music exposes you to other cultures & teaches you about their role in the history of music. Realizing that you’re a part of a tradition that spans back centuries and across continents humbles you and puts your own place in the world into perspective.
 
>> What inspired you to start playing music at a young age and what inspires you now ?

Funnily enough, I only wanted to join my school’s orchestra because all my friends were joining too. I was in first grade, very curious, and wanted to be involved in as many creative group projects as humanly possible. Most of my friends quit within the first month but I had already fallen in love with being on stage & playing the violin and it soon became the most important thing in my life. I played throughout college, picking up viola (my true musical love) and piano along the way. Now I draw inspiration from different sources, from the music I hear out in Brooklyn warehouses, to subways musicians, to the fashion design projects I'm involved in, and sometimes still from the classical music I grew up with. 
 
>> Tell us about your experience in Berlin. How did it shape your musical style ?

I moved to Berlin right after I finished school, so it was a period of personal freedom, exploration, and risk-taking. I chopped off all my hair, traveled around Europe, and tried to soak up as much of the electronic music scene as I could. Experiencing the club culture in Berlin made me want to bring some of that aesthetic to Brooklyn, which was the spark I needed to move back and to seek out working with a collective like ReSolute.
 
>> What is your favorite part about playing music for the ReSolute collective in New York City ?

ReSolute events have a strong focus on cutting-edge music coupled with an avant-garde attitude, which is what I think makes them so appealing to the Brooklyn underground crowd. Being a ReSolute resident for 6 years has been hands-down what's taught me the most about DJing... how to read a room, how to build energy on the dance floor, and everything in-between. Stylistically, there's a lot of freedom as to what you can play, but you always need to be on your A Game..... The underground crowd is very discerning and expects the best!

>> You recently started playing with All Day I Dream and have released some beautiful tracks on their label, tell us about the music.

Releasing an EP on ADID was a special moment for me. It was my first full release and it spanned from the first track I had ever finished 7 years ago to my most recent work. Lee Burridge and Matt Dekay have been wonderfully supportive of me, both as a producer & a DJ. 
 
>> What does Peace mean to you ? 

 To me, Peace is respecting and loving others, which starts with respecting and loving yourself.

Following his much-loved remixes of Maribou State and ODESZA released on Anjunadeep in 2015, label favourite Daniel Goldstein aka Lane 8 returns with two stellar reworks of George FitzGerald’s 2017 anthem ‘Burns’.

Lane 8’s ‘Morning Mix’ is an ode to the lush atmosphere of the original, a highlight from George’s sophomore album ‘All That Must Be’ released earlier this year on Domino. With the original’s mesmerising vocal chops front and centre, Goldstein blends tranquil piano arpeggios and stuttering synth stabs to create a pensive soundscape imbued with melancholy.

The ‘Club Mix’ is a showcase of Lane 8’s trademark sound. Detuned chords, void-like atmospheres, and a thumping four-to-the-floor kick drum combine to create a fierce peak-time soundtrack.

Lauren Ritter started life believing that everybody saw colors when they heard music. She also believed that by college she would have visited the moon, Mars, and Saturn. At the age of 7, the adults in her life delivered two crushing truths: the first was that not everybody sees colors when they hear sounds, and the second was that the universe is far too big for one person to see all of it in their lifetime. She felt that she needed to choose either space exploration or music.

Since choosing music, she’s been creating a sonic cosmos that shares the colors of sound that some people may not naturally see. She traffics in personal, groove-driven, emotive, minimal house that seduces the audience to fill the empty space with imagination.

Her 2015 and 2016 All Day I Dream releases quickly became favorites among fans and critics, being described as “hypnotic,” “mesmerizing,” and “a bittersweet headrush.” Swoon, and title track, Lark, have since been featured on several BBC Radio 1 Essential Mixes, expanding her reach well beyond the underground. However, it’s her live sets that treat fans to the esoteric spirit of dance music.

Music hasn’t quelled Lauren’s desire to visit Saturn; until technology catches up with her, she’s working on tracks that will bring Saturn to earth.
