I wrote the first two lines of this song and the chorus about five years ago, and it's taken this long to ferment into a full song, hope you enjoy this Work in Progress.

A Foggy Day - Atoma Trío

This track is new version of a theme that I made long time ago after seeing a documentary in SIC Portuguese TV, by Cândida Pinto, about Mozambican children that became orphans due to AIDS (http://youtu.be/hADGmDpFUSY). The lyrics focus on the feelings and expressions of Sergio Simango, one of those children that deeply impressed me. Since then I thought to have a project to record it with lots of people and children singing, and make a video clip for YouTube of that event to support and bring publicity to these organizations that help those young children. For one reason or another the project stood there quite a while. Now, finally, with the help of Jaime, Milana, Oddrun, Elle, Emma, Eugenia and Michelle and a chorus of 5th grade students  from from Gama Barros Portuguese school and the music teacher and conductor Jorge Palma, the 1st part of this project has come to life with this track here in SC.

Some data about AIDS orphans children in Mozambique:
Population: 20 million
Total orphans in Mozambique: 2 million
Total orphans of AIDS: 600,000
Life expectancy: 41 years

Traditionally, orphans in Mozambique have been cared for by their extended families. But AIDS and drought have left many families unable to care for their own, let alone take in additional mouths to feed. AIDS orphans end up at the back of feeding lines because they are left to fend for themselves.

My main influences come from the prog/rock/fusion world from the 70ths, but also from all the Rock music since then to newest Indie sounds, Portuguese and Brazilian music, or from the Blues or Jazz gods.
