A leaked audio recording of a March 26th meeting of United Nations agencies' staff in Ethiopia was released by the nonprofit Omna Tigray on August 14 2021. The meeting was held to discuss allegations of sexual violence in the Tigray conflict that had been alleged but not proven by investigators. 

The United Nations country office felt that its staff should align on a unified position regarding allegations of sexual violence in the Tigray conflict. They discussed  problems related to the media sensationalizing the situation and even spreading misinformation. 

They also discussed the challenge they are having with the lack of evidence and data, which has made it difficult for them to validate allegations. The meeting was held via video conference with UN country team members, UN agency representatives, and UN partners.

The Washington Post recently published “Burundi’s dangerous neighbor,” a letter written by former UN official Jeff Drumtra.  Drumtra wrote that the Rwandan government is conscripting Burundian refugees in Rwanda’s Mahama Refugee Camp to create a new Burundian "rebel army." Big media said nothing about this and instead helped create a false narrative, with bloody consequences. The peace process of the 1990s ended when the RPF shot down the plane carrying the President of the country. Millions lost their lives in the subsequent fighting and invasion of Zaire/Congo.
