Still you linger like warm breath in a freezing winter
Wilting forget-me-nots in all your flower pots
Don’t you wonder what could’ve been last autumn?
When you let go of my hand I was sure
It would be a long October.
You said goodnight when my windows got bright
It was 6am in my bed, your full moon eyes filling up my head
Enveloping me like ocean waves, your arms my sand, my shore.
I watched you stretch up, watched your ribcage expand
I thought please let your hand intertwine with my hand.
Gently, I hold them, and they’re cold to my touch.
Gently, you scold me. “You love me too much.”
The seasons were changing, and I think we both knew
 The red in the leaves meant the end of me and you.
Flash forward one year, and I see you again
You’ve been smoking; the smell lingers on your favorite cardigan
It’s falling off your shoulder, but you don’t seem much colder than the tourist in his shorts
I wish your pupils weren’t dilated.
I thought you were past your self-annihilated complex
You told me: “I promise I’ll get better,”  
Your skin is even greyer than the weather
You gave me a set of your dog tags. I never understood the symbolism.
You laugh, and you say: “Can’t you see, your words just hypnotize me?”
It’s a poor excuse for an apology
You kiss my chapped lips. You turn, and you leave
In my head, a voice screams: Love the sinner, hate his sins
I hope your flight back to fucking Korea gets snowed in
I hope your plane crashes in my backyard
I hope you redo that last kiss, and if you do, kiss me hard
Please slam me into a wall, and please get under my skin
I love the sinner
I forgive his sins
Still you linger like snow on a window sill
I’ll keep falling, you’ll keep holding still 
A quivering, green leaf, on a dead, frostbitten tree
My quivering hand reaches for you
Your quivering hand reaches for me
We never see that they almost meet.
