Unlike past mixes in the CalaBashment Series that highlight multiple genres in the Diaspora, Volume 5 focuses solely on the budding genre of Amapiano, distinguished by piano-led melodies, Kwaito basslines, and Afro-House rhythms. Once thought of as just a passing fad in the South African music scene, the Yanos as it is commonly referred to, has proven itself to be a sustainable ecosystem of its own. Amapiano is a  movement driven by the youth, fueled by the DJs/Producers, and brought to life by the signature dance moves.

Annalie Prime is a Roots-Pop singer, songwriter and music composer. Her sound is a fusion of genres with roots elements like Calypso, Reggae, Blues, Jazz and  Folk. In 2020, Annalie released her debut album entitled "I Think Too Much" which revolves around the topic of mental health and self improvement. In an interview with Laura Dowrich for Caribbean Beat Magazine, she described the album as " a bunch of journal entries". In 2021 she released her sophomore album entitled "Nine". In an interview via Loop News TT , she said that the album was created as a response to the "sudden rise in gender based violence". The singer also added that she wanted to, "Celebrate, uplift and inspire the WOMAN" with the latest project.
