The Train To Nowhere

This instrumental track, performed by GOLTZ (Gunther Benedict-drums, Christoph Musil-bass, Mario Palaschke-keyboards), is the result of a nightly improvisation that started out in search of some musical idea but quickly developed a desire for swing.

What happens if "Dust In the Wind" meets "Classical Gas"?  I sought to answer that profound question one morning when I was riffing on an A-minor chord and couldn't think of another way to describe this acoustic concoction. I couldn't think of a better name for it either, but seemed to have a "ballad" feel to it, either about a hero or villain, I'll let you decide, and maybe catch a "catnap" thinking about it:)

During the first few months of last year, I was ill with my recurring kidney stone problems.

Fortunately, that passed.

I left some of the compositions I started unfinished, and some sketches were barely started.

This is one of them.

My mother lives in a typical Andalusian house in Seville.

One of the characteristics of these houses is that they usually have a courtyard where there are all kinds of flowering and non-flowering plants.

Obviously, they need to be cared for, watered, fertilized, etc.
My mother loves doing it, and in spring she reaps the rewards of her labor.

I always give my flower icons to the women I follow (I hope I'm not annoying them by doing that), so I thought it was interesting to draw inspiration from all of that to put this together.

This song began as an idea Tez came up with on his guitar while on holiday not far from his home in Wales. It had such a solid form, it inspired Mark to write lyrics and come up with vocal melodies within a few days of hearing it for the first time. The two of them have written several songs like this, making them a solid songwriting source for Eclectic Collective.
Once the song had a even more solid form, Ken took added his dynamic, bouncy-groove drums to it. As soon as Ken had the drums down, Josh took his turn, adding the fretless bass and solidifying the groove. Now that the basic framework was done, Stephen added his thrilling electric guitar. Last, but certainly not least, JJ added his really cool psych synth part in the two bridges. Mark also added some awesome backing synth to it, as well, filling out the sound. At the very end of the process, Tez also dropped in the hot intro and outro solos, as well.
Once we had it all in the can, it was time to turn it over to Tez for his expert production and mix. He came up with the idea of adding reverb to the drums, as well as some other compression tricks, which he employed with subtle style.
This, as mentioned, is a great example of what Eclectic Collective can do in house with the composition and songwriting skills of Tez and Mark. The rest of us really had fun working on this one, too, of course. We hope you enjoy listenig to this as much as we enjoyed making it.

Tim Elliot and I are delighted to offer you our latest Creation as the Harmonic,  Electric, 'One Mic- One Take' Improvisational Duo' - Shekinah Fire * 

As we Let Go in the moment, and improvised this Tone Poem using only Tim's Custom Atilla Guitar and my Kawai ES7 Stage Piano, the Solar Winds definitely seemed as if they were blowing thru our instruments... releasing sounds of Passion, Glory, and the occasional Solar Storm. 

But we'll leave it up to your Ears and Imagination to envision it all. 

Again, this is an improvised electric Symphonic Composition of a number of Movements... All born of our letting go of any pre-planned design, and depending only upon our Deep Listening and where the Music was leading us.

We can also promise you that if you stay with the unfolding flow there will be continual 'flowerings' as it radiates outwards and reveals itSelf.
