Contrary to popular belief, it was Molijn who named his project ‘Dash Berlin’. Cassandra is an identical twin born and raised in Queens, NY. Throughout her life she always found herself gravitating to music and was inspired to do something with it. One day in passing, she saw an empty room full of pianos, walked in, and began playing. Not too long after, Cassandra taught herself how to play the piano through YouTube. In 2011, she was introduced to EDM, attending her first show in Madison Square Garden to see Swedish House Mafia. It was impossible to not want to recreate the magic she had just experienced, impossible to not want to make people feel the energy and love for music she felt. In 2012, she taught herself how to DJ, saving up for her first controller, and everything began to fall into place. Growing up, Cassandra was known as the “Yer” master; a well-known slang terms popular in NYC. What better way to represent herself and where she came from other than YERSTER. Just like that, it stuck as her DJ name. She wanted to keep her DJ name unisex because she knew DJing was a male-dominated industry. After DJing for a year YERSTER began teaching herself how to produce music via YouTube. Since then she has played in bars, lounges, and clubs to get her name out there. With her wide variety of music selections, she has been trying to become more than your average DJ. She wanted to start creating something special while she performed, a vibe, an experience, an energy that just radiates through the crowd. Yerster was fascinated with the styles of DJs like A-Trak and Laidback Luke, and she studied them to learn and perfect her craft. She now incorporates samples with live mash-ups to keep her crowds entertained. YERSTER started an Instagram series where she takes all song requests and tries to make it work in each set.
