In anticipation of Finnish producer Jani R's forthcoming "Fragile" artist album on Silk Sofa, we're proud to present "A Thousand Flares", including an accompanying remix by UK producer Data Rebel. Jani R previously appeared on Silk Sofa with his "Collision" EP, as well as his lush remixes of Seagrave's "Tick Tock".

The Original Mix quickly establishes a unique and mesmerizing soundscape. Soon thereafter, gorgeous string layers emerge, as well as a beautiful and tranquil theme synth. As the song progresses, various percussion elements are introduced, accompanied by stunning textural sound effects. The song brilliantly showcases the quality of sounds and melodies to be expected on Jani's full-length artist album. Data Rebel is a new addition to the Silk Sofa roster, and his remix of "A Thousand Flares" could not be a better introduction. His remix begins with soothing pad and string lines, as well as refreshing sound effects in the background. A lush breakbeat is introduced soon thereafter, while an enjoyable bassline appears underneath. The song is continuously spiced up with new melodies and structural changes, enhancing the atmosphere even further.

Jani R - A Thousand Flares (Original Mix) [Silk Sofa]

This is where modern music began.  At the beginning of the disco era, the style started off as a fusion between the popular rock, funk and latin music of the late 60's that translated well into songs fit for play at night clubs.  Disco became the style to make wide use of synthesizers.  In 1979, the Disco Demolition Derby would be the disco's height of popularity.  Advances in synthesizers would turn disco into electro funk and eventually techno.  At the end of the era, disco DJ's advanced their emceeing into post-disco rap of 1979-1983 which of course gave way to hip hop.

Tides of You is a haunting dark-pop ballad that blends oceanic imagery with raw emotion. The song paints the picture of love as both a current and a curse—beautiful, consuming, yet impossible to escape. Ethereal verses drift between vulnerability and rage, while the crashing chorus pulls the listener deep into the storm of heartbreak. With a cinematic blend of shadowy synths, crashing percussion, and aching vocals, it feels like being swept away in waves of passion and pain, where desire and destruction meet.
