A friend, anchor, hugger, Style Guru and support structure to many people, combined with a knack for beautiful house and electro some might say he’s onto a Nu Groove, sliding in some of the freshest electro I have heard. 

In 2017, I walked into Jollies and there was this guy who with glasses and a curly afro playing Disco and at first I was like ‘ahhhh’. Then I saw him playing at Slushy and I still did not get what he was playing. Disco, Electro and house made no sense to me until 2019. He does not remember but I even went to complain to him about a Dj once who could not mix Blondie with a house song after he left the reverb on.

In 2020, at Lighthouse Festival, I caught him playing at the after party in the third place and damn, was he good (it’s where International Pantsula was coined). So if you are lover of pop, rock and roll and house Cam has you covered. He is meant for a Hi-fi System.

On this episode of parental guidance, our dear beloved DSCO CAM graces us with a mean super punch of rolling breaks and electro like to no other. From chants of where is your girlfriend to giggle ad-libs, and chords that catch the ear. episode 5 is sign and it is proof of PG taking shape. A graduation to complex sounds, this mix is a 21 Gun Salute. With disco edits, its perfect for a take-off, and if ever your are looking for more, play it again.

AfrikaBurn 2024 - Friday Sunset - Always Agnes B2B Shabbywho (AKA SHAGGY) - at MBOMBO

For this mix, I was inspired by the concept and feelings of lucid dreaming and being in a state of transition between sleep and wakefulness. That moment when you’re lying in bed and two worlds—the waking world, firm, rigid, and bound by rules, and the dream world, fluid, nonsensical, and unpredictable—begin to blend into one another. What’s real and what’s not? This mix is an ode to the hypnotic state that arises as your subconscious begins to take control while your conscious mind tries to make sense of it all.
To convey this, I divided the mix into three distinct segments. In the beginning, the worlds are in a state of dissonance as the sounds of the physical world blend with your dreams. As you drift further into sleep, the experience becomes more hypnotic and consistent. Finally, as you fall into deep sleep, there is a resolution, and the beauty of the dream state is fully realized. These are the things that inspire me when creating and searching for music, and I hope this mix provides you with a little insight into what inspires me.

Enter David Harari, a Sonic Engineer from Germany who has touched down with standard setting mix for Episode 22.

He has captured the heart and soul of Parental Guidance, giving us the precursor to the music we love today :). A fanfare of melodic expansiveness thumped with elements of rhythm and mood, which continue to resonate with today's listner. This is what Trance and techno were before the advent of Y2K, when analogue was analogue, the wax was always hot and Rave was art.

What makes this mix distinctive is the captured analog sound,  which is raw, impact, and full of textures that contrast with today’s polished digital sounds. With synths, samples, and drums working overtime. With the synonymous sounds of nature and natural samples making guest appearances all around.

Filled with groove, enjoyment, and uplifting melodies I could not help but dance and clap my hands as each track came with different hypnotic rhythms, pulsating basslines, and ethereal melodies of the 90s delivering some of the most timeless and engaging Trance and Techno. With features of “X1" and “Sven Vath" it's no wonder I was gleaning with esteem as we contribute towards the resurgence of contemporary music.

It is a mix so lively and full of passion, we are honored to be a part of this time capsule so let us raise our glass and toast to David whose appreciation for music is heartfelt and forthcoming.
