In anticipation of the 2023 edition of the MOSTRA Festival, with whom we joined forces to present you music from some of the most exciting and talented producers and DJs worldwide, in the next couple of weeks, we'll feature several truly outstanding music tales. 

The first mix in our 'Delayed x Mostra' mix series comes from the incredible French producer and DJ based in Germany, Aa Sudd, who has in this past year released two of the most groundbreaking and avant-garde albums of the moment: one with Konduku as Konsudd and another released just a month or so ago on Midgar. 

Aa Sudd's mix is a true masterpiece exploring the dub's hypnotic and atmospheric realms. With intricate and captivating polyrhythms, this mix takes listeners on a psychedelic journey through sound. The various rhythms blend seamlessly, creating a truly otherworldly experience when you listen to it on your headphones.

Aa Sudd will play on the festival's opening day, Thursday, April 6, from 9-11 pm at the Hangar.

Local
The pandemic highlighted the importance of local communities, local institutions and local support for one another. We at Mostra continue the commitment to our Local, not only by programming local artists on the line-up, but also through how we choose our suppliers and other collaborations in the city. And we go further: an exhibitors' Fira for the duration of the festival, generating our own media content during the year through MostRadio, the Mostra’m series of debates, seminars and conferences in parallel with the festival, and our ExtraMostra series of events in venues across Barcelona place Mostra’s roots firmly in their local environment.

Inclusive
Mostra is a festival that reflects on the realities that surround us in electronic music. We are committed to breaking the gender gap in a scene that is traditionally very masculinised. We try to reflect this in our programming, in our team, and in the values we promote: we want a friendly and safe space where there is no room for any kind of violence, and where respect for diversity is fundamental. We have developed our own protocol with a gender perspective, and we seek to raise awareness in a transversal way throughout the project.

Sustainable
Mostra is a festival that seeks to be a social and environmental benchmark through its actions. We follow the most up-to-date sustainable protocols and develop good practice in relation to both city and planet. We have created the role of Sustainability Director who leads and implements an action plan based on sustainable experiences; we limit the programming of artists from overseas to reduce our carbon footprint; and we are committed to contracting and collaborating with social integration and social and solidarity organisations from Barcelona.

Delayed with... Aa Sudd [Delayed x Mostra]

The Profundo Collective is releasing the second edition of the "Ritmos de la Reunión" compilation, which features names like Trøm Borg, Adhémar, Morpha, Federico Corrado, Hod, and Doctrina Natura. Today's spotlight falls upon the latter, whose track "Incarnation" serves as the grand finale of this diverse release.
Doctrina Natura, hailing from Seville, crafts a steady, pulsating groove that acts as the bedrock for his track. Imagine it as the beating heart of a divine being, upon which he layers ethereal pads and melodies that shimmer like celestial stardust. These elements linger and intertwine, creating a magic that feels both grounded and otherworldly. It's an apt closing track, embodying the essence of "incarnation" – the divine brought to life in a tangible form, just as the compilation itself brings together the diverse talents of these international artists.
"Ritmos de la Reunión volume 2" is coming out on February 12.

Through the poplars, different echoes resonate.
Those old roots are already tired of the concrete jungles, of the indiscriminate usurpation of what once belonged to everyone, and of that trivial exploitation of the eternal for the most ephemeral purposes that so abound.
Does no one see the inherent brilliance in each moment, the hidden magic behind every 'simple' act? It is in that glow, behind the mirror, where the true reality hides, and no one seems to want to notice it; no one wants to see beyond their own reflection.
Or so it seemed. Little by little, curiosity, for lack of a better resource and having already discarded the rest of the options, seems to be having an effect on the disoriented masses in search of a direction. And while many have already dared to look and have even been on this side for a long time, there had never been an interest of this magnitude.
God is dead, the poets exclaim, and it must be because of this that the illusory balance that sustained banal existence lost its unstable stability.
For those who know how to listen, the trumpets that announce the coming of a different panorama resonate, where the old values ​​are no longer of any use.
Perhaps the poets are right.
Perhaps it was that old center that sought to give meaning to what has none, that with symbols tried to represent the greatest of abstractions, which retained a species with as much potential as can be imagined.
Will the news that the poets so much announce and that the trumpets keep exposing to the ears of those who are well attached to the greatest of illusions ever arrive? Will those deaf ears want to hear it?
It's just a matter of waiting and dancing, to the rhythm of the moon, while we do so. Thus leaving them, at least, a small trace of what it feels like to dwell behind the almost imperceptible veil that separates us.

Live at Perpendicular is the label's inaugural offering. Recorded May 
 25, 2024 by d_o_ppelgaenger at Perpendicular Festival in the woods of Cuenca, Spain, this album is both an ambient live set and a sound journey inspired in the
Doppelgänger archetype from the early gothic novel.

The music of d_o_ppelgaenger challenges the boundaries between acoustic and
electronic sound calling on a wide range of oft-conflicting aesthetics: from early
music to soundtrack atmospheres and the latest disruptive avant-garde trends.

AF Premiere: Valentin Ginies - Saturniids [11001 Records][OUT!!17.09.24]

Ambient music can mean many things to many people. Packed to the brim with emotion or devoid of and calming as Eno coined many years ago when describing his seminal release. In either format, the genre has a restorative effect, to give one space for thoughts that swirl in time with the ebbs and flows of the music. Our premiere for today comes via Dutch producer, Will Oirson and his track ‘Escapism’.

Immediately greeted by the sounds of bell-like jingles, rasps and shuffles, Escapism feels rooted in a time and place. A soft elongated synth note slowly starts to rise in prominence, joined by a chorus of otherworldly voices giving an emotional charge. Periodically  there comes a beat, bringing movement and progression through the remainder of the track as the melodies swell and resolve.

Escapism will be released September 19th on Will’s own label, The Something Something.

For the first album release on Pure Space - and a welcome addition to our Home Listening Series - we are excited to present "At Every Corner" by Mara, a pivotal figure in Eora/Sydney's experimental music community.

Since 2020, the Home Listening series has showcased the introspective and wandering side of the label, featuring releases from Jennifer Loveless, jobfit, and 黑芝麻 (Hēi zhī ma). This series diverges from club constricts, inviting listeners to explore deeper, more contemplative soundscapes.

Throughout "At Every Corner", Mara weaves a rich tapestry of sound, creating captivating composites of audio snippets taken from her travels and performances along the way. The result is a mesmerising long-play that invites the listener into an ever wandering journey.

Next you will hear “Images We've Created”, a track created during a residency in Bundanon with Temporary Position. Consolidating a week’s worth of audio recordings into one layered composition, this track reimagines time and textures. Leaning into the discussions on materiality and live streaming that filled the residency, the track archives fragments of the environment, daily routines and ideas.
