Biocym is an artistic project from Italy that seeks to awaken emotions by expressing its feelings towards reality and the use of atmospheres and scenarios reflected in its sound. The main nucleus of his work reflects the attitude that man must embody in order to move in a dark and inscrutable reality that he must face when he inevitably explores it.
Biocym represents the way in which the artist approaches the way of awakening in himself by contemplating the infinite variety of landscapes of reality and proposes his progressive deepening.  His music is the meeting point of his two influences: natural sounds and those other sounds generated by his creativity.

Originally from Seoul, Korea, Unjin's international debut came with Miami WMC 2010 as Korea’s best electronic musician. Since then Unjin is fast becoming known in Asian techno circles as one of top producers and DJs to watch. Unjin is the founder of Korea’s first techno label 'ECI Korea' , a platform to expose emerging domestic and international talents to the world stage. 

As composer and producer, Unjin has played a key role in laying the foundation for a Korean techno culture. In 2010, as a part of the duo East Collective, the first techno album 'Spiral Sequence' was released,
receiving international recognition for the successful remixes of works for Ryogo Yamamori and DJ Sodeyama with Drumcell, Mr. Jones, Jonas Kopp, Tony Rohr & Layton Giodani, and inspiring many young
Korean artists.

While holding residency at Vurt Club in Seoul, Unjin tours internationally. It is, once again, our biggest pleasure to bring you podcast #160, this time from the wonderful talent, Alexskyspirit (Circular Limited, Edit Select, Aarden Records, Planet Rhythm et al). 

What makes this edition extra special is that it is formed entirely of the Greece born and raised artist’s own material - including some personal Alexyskyspirit favourites, as well as some stunning unreleased tracks.

For us, Alexskyspirit’s music is sheer beauty through and through - a delicate dance between darkness and light, melancholy and hope, paving the way for deep introspection, if you allow it. It’s the depth, mystery, emotion, and allure of his work that has continuously captured our attention time and time again, just as with this magnetic journey recorded for On the 5th Day. 

When listening, it’s may be no surprise to learn that Alexskyspirit’s inspiration is city traffic, night, winter, rainfall, and architecture - for us emanating a pensive mood that lends itself to the type of deep introspection we find ourselves in when immersed in Alexskyspirit’s creative outputs. 

This mix is no exception - a deep, emotive journey along dark city roads at night, rain falling, the light from vehicles of fellow drivers dancing with the rain in the darkness ahead, a mood of melancholy, but also deep connection and meaning filling you as you cruise forward - no longer attaching onto the goal of your journey, but instead losing yourself in the moment, in a dream-like state.

Alexskyspirit delivers a mix built on deep/dark bits together with newer tracks as well as exclusive, unreleased material. The result is ...moody AF, oscillating between a well-known dark-building-block (LN or Berlin-like), as much it kicks you into the midst of a white, powdery snowy mountainscape under starry Nightskies. It's the contrast, the thumping-red-thread (sometimes almost gloomy) that reveals Alexskyspirit's peculiarity. The journey embarks us in memories of both sweaty crowds, strobes and hypnotic states, somewhere between reality and dreams. Respites are given to calm the mind before kicks & basslines bring you right back in line. Cinematographic, ravey, a sense of mystery mixed are all in favor of a cathartic trip. The focus of his musical compositions is on a deep, hypnotic sound space, surrounded by a fascinating, experimentally created atmosphere that offers space for our mind. Like music and art, the love of nature is a common language that can overcome borders. In music but also in nature there are energies, frequencies, resonances and vibrations. This creates feelings that guide us, and quite individually. It is difficult to understand or put into words. It is a process of the subconscious.
