Cruise Me

Almost a year after they unveiled their collaboration with the wall of sound that was the ‘Spiker’ 12” Perc & Truss return to their home on the Perc Trax Ltd label to serve up a fresh four track EP of live analogue jams. Once again the tracks were recorded in one take. All mistakes, happy accidents and bizarre unexplainable audio artefacts have been kept in place, with no post-production or further editing done once the first take was recorded. These tracks cover more ground than the three on Spiker, but the Perc & Truss collaboration is no experimental vanity project, with all four new tracks aiming straight at the dancefloor.
Title track and opener ‘Two Hundred’ leads the way with caustic acid providing the foundation for a classic London cabbie-rant vocal, whilst ‘Judd’ layers all manner of malfunctioning effect pedal sounds over a triplet rhythm track. 

On the b-side ‘Forever Your Girl’, a mainstay of Perc’s sets for months now, leads the charge, as rave interludes provide a breather from the kind of kick drum volley made for Awakening’s Gashouder home. Finally ‘Van Der Valk’ mixes hardcore stabs over an icy electro-tinged groove and crowd samples stretching the Perc & Truss sound further than ever before.

Musically here... I just play what I feel and like, like many. Translating _it_ into the best sound I could do at the moment, hoping to let out some of grooves and vibes boiling my head constantly. Might be messy, bumpy, puzzling, but this is what it is. By design. Crystal Ripples continues my "Impressionism in Music" series. I love to induce and provoke, rather than impose. All for creative listening experience, so we collab, co-create.... Thank you.

Fender Stratocaster finger picking and (slightly) distorted basslines and twangs. Tones are using Line 6 hardware Pod XT. Post Line6 and IK Multimedia Amplitube.  Korg Synths, including Gadget tool Brussels, which solemnly soloing at 0:50. All synths sounds transitions achieved by playing physical knobs on my Arturia controller. All 37 lines of guitars, perc, synth total are assembled in Ableton Live 9 and mastered with IK Multimedia.

Talassa Barda wraps a driving four-four beat with an ethereal atmosphere, driving a dark cutting synth lead through the gut of the track. It booms with a hefty kick drum, riding forth in tandem with a set of shuffling hi-hats.

Nothing mattered was the conclusion she didn't so much draw, as carve nonchalantly into her spine, tonsils vibrating like sand in one of those cheap-o rock tumblers that were plastered all over the TV for the more useless variety of child to employ a relentless campaign of parental hasslement to aquire, popularized by one Graniver 'Mallarcky' Scroont, darling of the wicked west end having far from recently splashed his chops into the feeble spongebrains of the collective conscious of Englanders and Americans alike in his big picture debut My Heart is the Phantom (1958)Whereas on the aforementioned.... feel it! Well It DOES matter but you didn't hear from me. Or did you? Look, if you did can you just do me a favo(u)r and make like you didn't? That's what his posture, or perhaps his spiritual demeanor (Who has the time to be picky?) was screaming anyhow, with delusions of control slowly ebbing, nay melting down the sentinel's frame, schlepping like A fiberglass Woody Allen revealing a skeletal embodiment of absolute truth, leaving a trail of fancied grandeur bathed in psychosexual vegetation, gathered moss. ESP of the downtrodden, but what did She care? She was already six ribs out the window and above the statosphere. What did she care? What did anyone?
