Malai Bachauna

Hello everyone! Right off the bat, I want to say that this project is a little different from the ones I usually share. It is my first piece of original music, right from composition to production (though a few lines from a popular Nepali nursery rhyme written by the late Saran Pradhan also feature in it).
However, 100% of everything/anything I earn from the sales of this song will be donated to M.A.R.G., an NGO from Darjeeling (India) that facilitates rural growth, education of underprivileged children and anti human trafficking, among other such societal reforms. Growing up in the pristine hills of Darjeeling, I came to love that cheerful little town that sits upon the clouds. It is there that I also fell in love with music, a few years ago. And now, I’m hoping that through this passion of mine, I can give something back to my hometown, even if it is in a small way.
And if you are reading this line then I thank you for taking the time to go through this post, and I want you to know that even if you decide not to purchase this song, M.A.R.G. still accepts direct donations. :)

This is a collaboration for Ayushma Regmi's curatorial display inhibitions.inhabitations that was held in New Delhi, India. Here is a short introduction on both music and her work.

“whenever i facilitate music therapy chant circles in kathmandu, i am in awe of the grounding it offers to participants while bringing in their unique blend of voices and body movements. inspired from these shared improvisational processes, this music, too, engages in a journey from one breath to the next. it simply wants to dance within the shared experiences of living beings.”  

shreeti is a music therapist, musical artist and student of buddhist studies. she collaborates with artists and psycho-social health professionals on programs that address emotional wellbeing. shreeti is also involved with the experimental musical band udumbara.

do bodies belong? or does embodiment splinter a whole into irreparable fractures? were we born dismembered? are we destined to be incomprehensibly disfigured? who–and what–deserves the dignity of being a body? some body? no body? every body? this exhibition attempts to read into bodies–human bodies, natural bodies, man-made bodies–to decrypt that fundamental question about what it means to be human and whether this sense of being is rooted in the material world. the earth emerges as a prot/antagonist in this story of self, a playground where we make play, chart meaning.

Subha Ratri

Another Universe started as a solo bedroom project when Sazali Hassan (bukan nama sebenar) discovered music software in 2010 to create royalty-free background music for his videos.

He took the hobby seriously when he left Kuala Lumpur and his job as TV producer to travel the world (2011 - 2015). Influenced heavily by improvisation spirit of jazz musicians and dub reggae engineers, and random jam sessions with traveling musicians he met while being a vagabond, the project later expanded into a live band (fully hardware - no laptop) set up when invited to perform at Sime Darby Arts Festival in 2016.

In its current line up (2019), Another Universe consists of Sazali Hassan (songwriter, beats, synth, effects), Kent Lee (bass, synth, charm), Hana Halilintar (keys), and Leaism (vocals, effects).
