Formed in 2016, Melul is a one-person dark ambient act from Virginia. The brainchild of a classically trained instrumentalist, Melul was formed out of a personal spiritual crisis and the desire to explore the unnerving beauty of the untrained voice as the primary instrument. Weaving together vocal ambience with slightly sinister undertones, Melul pulls influences from early music, Enya, Hildegard von Bingen, minimal music, the occult, and more.
