I live in Bangor, Northern Ireland, a seaside town where I was born and raised. I play gigs on Fridays and Sundays in the local bars - the Jamaica Inn and the Rabbit Rooms respectively. I cover mix of oldies from Johnny Cash to Johnny Rotten.

I like playing pool, drinking Guinness, going to gigs, eating spicy food, and designing stuff on my Macbook. My favourite bands are Bob Dylan, Pearl Jam, Kula Shaker and NOFX. Folk Dope is the title of my 2018 full length album available on mint green vinyl pressed by Feedbands. All songs are original compositions.

Parapa Palace formed through a necessary need to create a more urgent rousing rock and roll sound. After plugging away in different musical acts for years, the four County Down boys finally got together.

Overdriven bass and jangly guitar lines are a staple of the Parapa Palace sound, with caustic vocals and thumping drums thrown into the mix. This is evident to hear in a lot of the bands music as a big influence – “we all listen to similar guitar music that has its roots in 90s grunge or more late 70s garage type stuff. We don’t always agree on what we like, but we certainly can on what we don’t” says Paulie, “it’s just natural and loose, and that all bleeds into the music and shapes how we write and perform”.

Their first gig was in Belfast’s legendary Menagerie in early 2014, it was something of a baptism of fire as the group had only been together for a matter of months. However they came through it unscathed and have since went on to perform across the city in the likes of The Empire Music Hall, and Voodoo to name a few. They have also performed at showcases in the Dublin institution- Whelan’s, to a rapturous reception, and have played Bello Bar as part of the “Cruel Hands” single release.

The band’s first self-titled EP came out in April 2014, recorded with Declan Legge (SOAK, Jealous of the Birds) it was a glimpse into what they would go on to do. The double single Myopic/Visions was next in 2015 with Declan Legge again on production duties. In 2016 the band went into Start Together studios to record new single “Cruel Hands” with Niall Doran (ASIWYFA, The Emerald Armada) it showcased a harder more focused edge to the band’s sound-  and would go on to receive regular radio airplay on BBC radio Ulster and overseas.

 “Subterrane” the group’s latest EP was released on 28th June 2017, recorded at Belfast’s Half Bap studios with Graham Davidson. It features some of the bands strongest output to date. Opening track “Before the Dark Times” is a real call to arms with wailing guitars and spitting vocals, recalling memories of lost youth with angsty overtones. “A Fistful of Laurels” takes the listener on another wistful journey with a powerful pop hook and a hint of 90s indie nostalgia in the tracks sound. Closer “Gumshoe” explodes with bombastic drums and rumbling bass lines which permeate through the track to brilliant effect counterbalancing the spiky guitars.

The group have been busy writing new music and preparing for a return to performing and recording in the near future.
