This session was originally recorded for a fundraiser during last year, but wanted to redo it to tighten up the blends. I picked a lot of tracks that remind me of the deeper side of Detroit. This feeling went with what I was feeling during the time of being home and secluded from a lot of friends.

Most of this album was recorded around 2017 at the North Sea Institute for the Overmind in The Hague Holland. Early 2022 I finally had some energy to get the artwork, tracks and "mastering" etc. together. 

I went for a bit of a “mid century weird tales Clipper Flying boat LA science Fiction fanclub” vibe with this one as I was reading a lot of that stuff. Synthwise its all over the place... ‘Supernova Cherry Dessert’ is nothing but the Novation Supernova pushing its 12 DSP succulent dripping filter to the max. Also heavy use of the Waldorf Pulse 2 & Blofeld (like on Fluttering into a Pulse storm) There is some JV2080 in there too. “Where the endless minds go” = just one loop on the Roland boutique mini JP08 you can hear the notes cut off sometimes because it can’t cope with too much polyphony and the hands on control gets a bit mucky due do its microscopically sized faders ah well…. “La chaleur sombre d’un S900” which is something like the Dark brooding warmth of the S900 is just that, all sounds sampled into the lower kHz rates of an AKAI S900 for those mesmerizing undusted digital artefacts. The artwork is a painting I made called ‘The golden age of Flying boats’.

Smackos 'Fables from a Silent Wave'  complete album in one deep listening mix

Founded in 2012 by Valentino Betz and Marvin Schuhmann, Munich’s very own Public Possession has proved itself to be more like a creative outlet to channel the founders various interests than simply being a record label. The idea was to emphasize the relationship between music, text, graphic design and happenings. Ten years later it’s easy to state that their ambitious plan paid off big time. Needless to say that their entry for Lodown’s ongoing Monday Mixtape series is as eclectic and unpredictable as you hoped it would be - a laid-back antidote for another weird and hectic week that’s in front of us.

Oh shit whaddup? Sitting back in Bristol, loving the summer time (it is raining), love being wet (and not in a good way), love it hells yeah! 

So in trve Maiovvi fashion after releasing an LP of oversaturated occult electro bangers on Bunker Records I decided to make an Italo mix, cause even though you fashion pricks have abandoned it in favour of whatever it is you "love" now, I still think Italo is great AND it's summer time so you can go get yourself an iced cream and then go do a ton of disco dust in a portable toilet and dance the night away before drowning youself in a lake of Club Mate and bad luck... Or walk around in the rain like I'm preparing to do, dreaming of being on a beach somewhere and not being so god damn broke.

Interstellar Funk’s entry into Bleep’s podcast series steadily gathers pace across an hour-plus run-time. The initial phase of the mix is characterised by edge-of-the-dancefloor rollers - not downtempo exactly, but certainly tracks which prioritise steady pulses over breakneck beat-tracking. Things begin to gather pace with upsammy’s ‘It Drips’, a cut from her upcoming debut LP Zoom, and these unnerving, fidgeting rhythms peel perfectly into 33EMYBW and Li Jianhon’s ‘Arthropods Continent’. From here we find ourselves in a world of atmospheric and low-slung club tunes, the intensity of which increases to a point where @interstellarfunk rounds out the mix with scuzz-techno rollers from Pessimist, Identified Patient and DJ Die Soon & Ecko Bazz.

"I focussed mainly on new and unreleased music that I bought over the last few months. The world is on hold but there is still so much good music coming out. It's hard to record a club mix in this state of mind and without an audience, but I tried to combine slower music that I like to play at the beginning of the night with some more energetic and faster tracks at the end."
