We're pleased to welcome Lovecraft for this episode 99 of XYZ Selectors. The creative amalgamation of live act, DJ and producer is fresh off his release of Koelle & Reza Safinia's Reverie out September 29th on XYZ 

On that tune, Lovecraft takes his time to set the mood, with floating chords resting on an arp which keeps on building up until the break. That's when the main hook comes in, carried by a rolling bassline continuously building in energy.

It's not often that two DJs seem to have a telepathic connection with each other, but this set would be as close as I have ever gotten to that. Having played many events together, in the desert, warehouses and clubs, it was at my own Open Air party that we finally decided to play back 2 back and boy am I glad we did. Fusion. Sunday 4pm in the „Räuberhöhle“. It’s the hottest day measured in 70 years. This is the day, where I’ll play for the first time on the one festival, which carved my life like no other, which repeatedly bestowed life upon me in the most miraculous ways. What I wanted for that day, is to contribute my part, give back what was given to me, in gratitude: to the Fusion, to the „Räuberhöhle“. I wanted to play a political set, showering you all with freedom and love as my beloved collective „Liebe ist ein Mischgetränk“ stood by my side drained in sweat.

I am 20 minutes into my set when the news arrived. A person was found dead in his tent. Alongside with the news, the music was collectively turned off on the whole festival for 15 minutes – fifteen minutes of silence. From exhilaration to total silence. We fall quiet, we look at each other, we cry.

Everything is always happening simultaneously. Life and death, utter ecstasy and endless grief. The dance floor, to which I promised my heart and passion, is more than a floor to dance on: it’s life itself. It contains all and everything! If as an artist I had a wish, I’d wish for everybody to feel like being able to remember instead of forget – to feel that my music and the dance floor are a safe space for remembering, in care, in tenderness, in honesty. Because everything is always happening simultaneously, is always true simultaneously.

Because of this I decided to let my set begin with these 15 minutes of silence – fifteen minutes to remember, to allow for grief, to allow for pain; and, to allow for letting go. Let us be aware of one another and let us take care of one another. This we do by sharing our fears and doubts and grow with them, on them, next to them: Don’t give up! Thank you!

A very special set from a special gathering deep in Northern California forest. I was tasked with playing the closing set for the Moontribe Full Moon Gathering 26 Year Anniversary, so I had to make it extra special.

The journey contained within is a story deep into one's own consciousness. It is a maximum sound and vibration activation of one's psyche, and a deeply reflective experience, as it was for me to share this live. Upon numerous relistens, I've gone deeper and deeper into the vibes, and I hope you do as well, and enjoy the music for its healing potential. It's been over 4 years since I've released a Moontribe set, and this one called upon me to do so, so the choice was clear!
