Anjunadeep, Odd One Out, Replug and Sudbeat have been recent vehicles for his groovy sounds, while his highly regarded DJ sets continue to see him grace some of world's trendiest venues and festivals. As a regular contributor to our series, Ezequiel has taken to editing and remixing iconic tracks from 16 Bit Lolitas, Active Child and most recently Sasha’s titanic take on Unkle’s ‘In A State’. Continuing to search for new pieces to put his elusive stamp on, Ezequiel took to editing Jody Barr’s ‘Accidental Lovers’ earlier this year. Famed for being selected to Sasha’s ‘LUZoSCURA’ project and featuring the vocals of Felicia Douglass, Ezequiel edited the emotive breakbeat piece into a slice of progressive house heaven. Needing little introduction and simply known as the maestro, Hernan Cattaneo is one of the world’s most beloved DJs and his Sudbeat Music imprint is widely regarded as one of the best in its field. With a career that spans over three decades, Hernan Cattaneo has recorded eleven albums, thirty singles and fifty remixes, all while touring the world delighting passionate music lovers with his impeccable taste and exquisite programming skills.

Meanwhile, Australian artist Jamie Stevens has achieved an amazing level of critical and commercial success over the course of his three-decade long career. As one of his country’s most talented and sought-after artists, Jamie has proven his skill in professional sound design, film scores and contemporary electronic music. Prolific and consistent in equal measure, Jamie has enjoyed a creative swell in recent years, landing releases via Lee Burridge’s All Day I Dream, John Digweed’s Bedrock Records and Guy J’s Lost & Found.

The third member of the trio is American artist, DJ and promoter Anton Tumas. With a career that spans well over a decade, the Los Angeles resident has left an inevitable mark on the underground scene through his Subtract On The Pier residency and burgeoning Subtract Music imprint.

Last year the trio combined their extensive forces and took to reworking Pink Floyd's ‘Breathe (In the Air)’. Released in 1973 as part of the band’s iconic ‘The Darkside of the Moon’ album, the much lauded song remains as one of the group’s most revered and recognized creations. After several live airings by Hernan Cattaneo, perhaps most notably at BNP Open Life, the trio’s take on the iconic song has been shrouded in mystery, with fans hypothesizing who reworked the track in such grand fashion. Now, fifty years to the day after the original release of the song, we are pleased to offer Hernan Cattaneo, Jamie Stevens and Anton Tumas’ rendition as an exclusive free download. Enjoy.

Anton Tumas is a man that wears many hats. As a DJ, promoter, and label owner, he has left an inevitable mark on the underground scene, spanning over a decade.

Cutting his teeth at LA’s clubs, desert parties like Moontribe and Burning Man, where he’s played everything from Robot Heart to DISTRIKT and Mayan Warrior, festivals such as Lightning in a Bottle, Desert Hearts, Further Future and Woogie Weekend, he quickly found himself playing with the likes of Hernán Cattáneo, DJ Tennis, and Danny Howells. Refusing to be limited by run of the mill music, his ever-evolving taste ranges from the farthest corners of house and techno to abstract electronica and everything in between.

Gaining the ability to control a dance floor led to his being inspired to understand the makings of a good party. Using his laser-like focus, he was soon a self-taught promoter, throwing parties in city parks and outdoor venues. Most notably, he essentially discovered the Belmont Pier in Long Beach as a venue, and set up one of the region’s most respected residencies, Subtract On The Pier. 

Now well into its sixth year, it continues to attract local icons, such as Doc Martin and Marques Wyatt, and major international headliners including Hernán Cattáneo, Patrice Bäumel, and Max Cooper. This residency combined with his promoter prowess led him to co-produce and curate the Love Long Beach Festival, which is in its seventh year and attracts more than 15,000 people.

Having initially founded the Subtract brand as a record label, he showcased emerging talent as new indie labels do. Although that commitment to new artists remains unchanged, his credibility now attracts remixes from superstars like Stimming, John Digweed and Damian Lazarus. The label releases just once or twice a year, with a focus on quality over quantity.

Now, with years of experience under his belt, he is ready for the next chapter. “We’re in an ever-evolving landscape, and are inventing it as we speak. But take this as a promise: We are about to raise the bar.”
