We round off 2021 with the third & final instalment of our ‘Tonics’ series, a new initiative set to find and support rising drum & bass talent to bubble up to the surface. This last hurrah paints a decidedly international end to the triptych, featuring music from artists in Russia, Austria, Greece and Hungary alongside some British producers alike. Opening the floodgates for a new generation of d&b talent, we proudly present ‘Tonics: Batch 3’ which lands in all good stores on Friday the 10th of December. 

After first featuring on our ‘Soul Music 2020’ LP last year, Austrian producer Screamarts returns, providing a weighty opener with ‘Hide and Seek’. The intro sees a droning synth quickly paired with an ominous bassline, which is flanked by beefy drums. Further showcasing his ability to combine heinous synth patches with imaginative structuring, the initial drop provides somewhat of a false summit, which is quickly followed by euphoric female vocals, unbridled bass and a satisfyingly cheeky cowbell. 

Hungarian-based producer Nort marks his Soulvent debut with ‘Behind’ - a vocal-driven, wistful roller with a measured structure. The intro shows off high-octane splashes of amen and swathes of bass, while the drop is a slightly tamer affair with muted bass tones and a clicking-groove. The rolling beats of the drop are accompanied by reversed sweeps, cavernous chimes and guttural bass which are sure to make a splash at your next social function. 

Bournemouth badboy Vektah shows off his interpretation of Motiv’s ‘Crave’, which the keen-eyed amongst you will recognise from the first ‘Tonics’ EP back in May this year. A delightful jungle reimagining, the bubbling effervescence of the original blends beautifully with playful drum work and wheel-up worthy womps of bass on offer.
 
Newcomers Skoel & Lök represent for Russia with the frenetic ‘Fractal’ which continues the darker theme present across the EP. Haunting vocals usher in a filtered break, a pulsing arpeggio and all manner of debauching bass tones. Make no mistake, these syncopated rhythms and gritty sonics are set to charge up dances from the Kremlin to Kilburn!

English producers Jolliffe & Natural Forces have teamed up for the seasonally titled ‘Winter Sails’. This murky, driving roller blends all manner of screwface-inducing elements. Warped, eerie vocals, dissonant pads and fleeting, twinkling synths gel to create a track that we can see damaging dimly-lit dancefloors come December. 

Finally, Requiem puts Greece on the map with the quirkily titled ‘Saturn On The Left’ which provides a more laid-back, softer edge to the EP and rounds out the release. The gradual intro combines drawn-out pads and melodic tones, which blend seamlessly with techy drum breaks, pulsating arpeggio and growling bass. This astronomical closing track provides just the right blend of musicality and energy to see the ‘Tonics’ series out in true style.

We welcome back ChaseR to Dispatch for our first release of 2022. Last seen on the label in 2020 for the heavyweight 'Darkslide' and 'Lust' from DIS151, the 'Moonfall EP' sees the Russian producer demonstrate his versatility with four varied tracks that pack the same punch but reveal a different side to his production. 

'Adrift' starts the EP with the familiar heavy, rolling sound fans of ChaseR will be familiar with. The title track 'Moonfall' is built around razor-sharp drum edits and a sparkling melodic lead that wrap around the looping vocal just right. 'Mental' continues the vocal work but this time packs a growling sub bassline and punchy bass drums that drive through the heart of the tune. The stepping, angular 'Priboi' rounds of the EP in a lighter note, the growling bass is back contrasting with the female vocal loops. 

A welcome return perfectly balancing the contrast of light and dark - dancefloors ready.

Wreckless returns to Dispatch Limited for this deeply personal EP reflecting a period of intense change in his life. At the time many of these tracks were written he had reached a real turning point in his life, turning to music production to help handle grief but also mark the transition from working full time into professional music production.

With the EP title reflecting this leap of faith, the tracks are also representative of the emotions he felt during this time. ‘C# blues’ is an Emu bass workout, mainly anger and frustration. ‘Programs without Purpose’ is all punk, all attitude, working out loss, feeling fear. ‘Freelancer’ is about making the jump and believing better things are out there. ‘Tealights’ is about acceptance and finding peace. ‘Holiday blues’ is about moving on and ends the EP on a note of hope. 

As Wreckless himself says “I really hope people see this journey in the music. I am in such a different headspace now, but I love how reflective this EP is of that time”.

With every day that passes, the high-scale humanitarian crisis and assault on the people of Ukraine continues to worsen. Civilian deaths are increasing on a daily basis across the country with no sign of stopping, with millions of citizens already forced out of their homes in search of refuge. As we wake up to yet another day of war, hundreds more innocent lives have been lost and destroyed overnight. We cannot leave this unchecked, and we need to act on this now without hesitation.

Now more than ever is a time for unity, solidarity and support of a nation under attack. It's crucial for us to use our voice to create widespread and sustained awareness of the situation on the ground in Ukraine, and to give support in every way possible. Whether it's signing petitions, attending demonstrations, sharing facts on social media, offering help for refugees, or more - this situation cannot be allowed to continue, and engaging in support of any kind for the people of Ukraine is our absolute priority.

Comprised of over 100 exclusive tracks from across the Drum & Bass and wider Bass Music spectrum, alongside over 30 pieces of bespoke visual art, with art direction by Uno (@uno.graphics), we are proud to present our compilation project 'Together with Ukraine'.

We are incredibly grateful to the music community for supporting our initiative to raise vital funds for humanitarian aid on the front line. All artists and people involved have offered their services free of charge, and all revenue generated will be donated directly to the Ukrainian Red Cross Society. We have set a minimum price of £12 for the compilation, but we would encourage everyone to give generously and donate a higher amount if you have the means to do so.

Ant TC1 along with Hidden Agenda founded Dispatch Recordings back in 2001, Ant originally helped out with the management side of the label before finding his feet within the realms of production; which was a natural progression for him having DJ’d on pirate radio and in clubs from the age of 14 (since 1992).  His first release alongside frequent production partner Stress Level appeared on Dispatch after almost 3 years of hard work getting their collective sound where they felt it needed to be before even thinking about turning on a DAT recorder.  After their first release hit the stores they quickly picked up a wealth of DJ support across their early material and went on to release for a who’s who list of established Drum & Bass record labels including the likes of Renegade, CIA, Advanced, Critical Records Integral, Liquid V, Commercial Suicide, Good Looking Records, Bingo Beats and Samurai Music.

By demand remix work started to feature heavily within their output and the duo went on to remix for the likes of Hidden Agenda, Chris SU, Artificial Intelligence, Kabuki, Total Science, Optical & Ryme Time (Jagged Edge), Atlantic Connection, Tactile & DJ Marky.  Branching out and working with other producers such as Survival, DLR & Philth has only furthered experience Ant’s skills at the controls over the years, Ant has also released his own solo material more recently on top of remixing for the likes of Lomax on Integral Records.  In 2014 Ant realised a lifetime ambition, securing his first ever release for the legendary Metalheadz label “Hungry For Atmosphere” alongside Mako, DLR & Villem with further releases for the label and counting going into 2024.

Ant’s production output has featured on a mass of compilations and mix CD’s compiled by the likes of Shy FX, LTJ Bukem, Total Science, AI, Spectrasoul, Klute and Brian G.  Additionally his work has featured very heavily within the radio shows of Friction, Grooverider, Fabio, Goldie, Bailey & Rene LaVice on their respective BBC Radio 1 slots over the years as well as BBC 1Xtra where Ant once hosted his own one-off 4 hour show, he has since additionally made 2 guest DJ appearances for DJ Friction on his Radio 1 show.  His DJ’ing work has seen him play all over the globe from Adelaide to Los Angeles, from Hong Kong to Sarajevo, Vancouver to Bangkok and last but by no means least regularly UK and EU wide. Additionally for the most part of the decade beyond 2010 Ant also worked as the Artist Manager for both Outlook and Dimensions Festival in Croatia, leading up the booking process, budgets and travel aspects for the festival.

Fast forward through to 2024; Ant is now responsible for the lead label management roles of both Metalheadz & Dispatch Recordings and is based in Thailand, with a purpose built studio room recently finished the plan (alongside managing a mass of planned record label releases) is to get back to focusing on writing music more consistently than he ever has previously.
