It’s team time again as we issue yet another huge collaborative effort from some of the scenes most accomplished producers and biggest names.

DIS070 draws together the collective powerhouse force of DLR, Hydro, Villem, Fields, Mako and Linden over two tracks to provide an outing of gigantic proportion, individually each producer within their own right is more than capable of delivering the goods in solo work mode, so imagine the results you would get from locking them all up in a dark studio room together for hours on end to channel their combined genius!

Well the result of that scenario is right here and is everything and more you may expect it to be. “The Formula” sees DLR, Hydro, Villem & Mako in combination for an effort that is nothing short of sublime, each bringing their own finely tuned skillset to the table in perfect compliment to each others skills whilst at the same time adding their own perfect measure of individual ingredients to produce a near perfect recipe. This one has already had the Friction seal of approval and thus has been aired twice to date on his weekly BBC Radio 1 show.

The flip sees Villem, Linden, Fields & Mako jump in together for “Saturate” 
This time the result is a massive heavyweight roller underpinned with a frightening amount of low-end grunt.  The perfect compliment to the A-Side and a devastating track for any dance floor regular.

Four outstanding slabs of raw darkness that showcase Rido's outstanding production ability and pick up from where the epic "Twisted" left off.

As a complete body of work the EP confidently moves from the half time grit of "Cockroach Funk", through to the sparkling piano intro of "Back to the Future", the deep pulsation of title track "Faith" and finally culminates in the evocative future soundscape of "They Think That"

Each tune within its own right is nothing short of outstanding, all combined in one great E.P to give a twisting snapshot of the all of the deep corners of Drum & Bass Music, as you would expect from Metalheadz everything here is just as it should be and at the highest standard of brilliance.

After the storming success of Fracture's outing on METHXX02 Friske quickly follows up with both tracks “Covert” & “Venture” on METHXX03 

“Covert” kicks things off with a deep excursion that cleverly steps its way through the unknown, a precise juxtaposition of effects and haunting stabs that swell in balanced unison throughout an ever-evolving arrangement. The A side is nothing short of the highest calibre of drum and bass music and the perfect addition to the METHXX catalogue.

The flipside sees Friske bring some smoother vibes to the forefront with “Venture” The B Side cleverly meanders with effortless ease through intricate melodies against a backdrop of smooth evolving pads, creating the perfect canvas for the foreground of perfectly weighted drums and exactly the right weight of B-line bounce to keep things moving.

Overall the whole 12” exemplifies Friske’s highly accomplished production prowess with a release that has the Metalheadz signature stamped all over it and once again all finished off in the hugely desirable and collectable METHXX packaging

Amoss step into lively territories with their 2014 return to Horizons Music. This single sees a VIP rework of their 2013 collaboration with MCJC, Bleed It, originally featured on the Dreamthief 4 LP. This rework brings a complete change in groove and mood to the table, incorporating a more syncopated beat with a much deeper bass presence. 
Calokan is a throwback to the duo’s early Horizons Music releases, but with an added twist. The dramatic and textural intro paired with an array of odd field recordings makes for an intense atmosphere whilst maintaining a heavy underlying sub laden roll. Those that are familiar with Amoss will know all too well that the second drop always has something special in store, in this case a straight, two step beat smashes through the breakdown, adding a huge switch up to the overall energy of this track.

HLZ solo effort for XX010 is the slightly more aggressive cousin to Good Old Days, skittering drums and atmos play against the warping bass. A touch of warmth is given to the track with the female refrain, a great example of HLZ as a producer.

Ant TC1 along with Hidden Agenda founded Dispatch Recordings back in 2001, Ant originally helped out with the management side of the label before finding his feet within the realms of production; which was a natural progression for him having DJ’d on pirate radio and in clubs from the age of 14 (since 1992).  His first release alongside frequent production partner Stress Level appeared on Dispatch after almost 3 years of hard work getting their collective sound where they felt it needed to be before even thinking about turning on a DAT recorder.  After their first release hit the stores they quickly picked up a wealth of DJ support across their early material and went on to release for a who’s who list of established Drum & Bass record labels including the likes of Renegade, CIA, Advanced, Critical Records Integral, Liquid V, Commercial Suicide, Good Looking Records, Bingo Beats and Samurai Music.

By demand remix work started to feature heavily within their output and the duo went on to remix for the likes of Hidden Agenda, Chris SU, Artificial Intelligence, Kabuki, Total Science, Optical & Ryme Time (Jagged Edge), Atlantic Connection, Tactile & DJ Marky.  Branching out and working with other producers such as Survival, DLR & Philth has only furthered experience Ant’s skills at the controls over the years, Ant has also released his own solo material more recently on top of remixing for the likes of Lomax on Integral Records.  In 2014 Ant realised a lifetime ambition, securing his first ever release for the legendary Metalheadz label “Hungry For Atmosphere” alongside Mako, DLR & Villem with further releases for the label and counting going into 2024.

Ant’s production output has featured on a mass of compilations and mix CD’s compiled by the likes of Shy FX, LTJ Bukem, Total Science, AI, Spectrasoul, Klute and Brian G.  Additionally his work has featured very heavily within the radio shows of Friction, Grooverider, Fabio, Goldie, Bailey & Rene LaVice on their respective BBC Radio 1 slots over the years as well as BBC 1Xtra where Ant once hosted his own one-off 4 hour show, he has since additionally made 2 guest DJ appearances for DJ Friction on his Radio 1 show.  His DJ’ing work has seen him play all over the globe from Adelaide to Los Angeles, from Hong Kong to Sarajevo, Vancouver to Bangkok and last but by no means least regularly UK and EU wide. Additionally for the most part of the decade beyond 2010 Ant also worked as the Artist Manager for both Outlook and Dimensions Festival in Croatia, leading up the booking process, budgets and travel aspects for the festival.

Fast forward through to 2024; Ant is now responsible for the lead label management roles of both Metalheadz & Dispatch Recordings and is based in Thailand, with a purpose built studio room recently finished the plan (alongside managing a mass of planned record label releases) is to get back to focusing on writing music more consistently than he ever has previously.
