Continuing the Most Violent Year Album project, NC-17 returns with the second instalment of this epic trilogy of long players.

Each part of this album series was written during a year in which the global pandemic took hold, intense political disruption created unstable futures and media outlets across the world became further polarised and outraged, creating vast swathes of angered and confused people, unsure of who to trust. This second edition encapsulates that paranoid, tense, terror - moving on from the looming dread of the unknown that formed the basis of Part 1.

Beginning each part of the album with an entirely new batch of tunes, Part 2 represents 13 of the best cuts from over 50 tracks written just for this chapter of this epic trilogy. By beginning with a fresh palette and creating entirely new music for each section NC-17 was able to keep each part distinct, and the music contained within this speaks exactly to the feelings he experienced during the project.

Alongside 8 incredible solo productions are collaborations with some of the dnb scene’s most notable talents, 5 exceptional tracks featuring Kolectiv & OB1, Myth, Philth, Dr. Apollo and Logam.

From humble beginnings back in 2013, Nurtured Beatz has stayed true to the cause, pushing deep, dark sounds from underground producers. Eight years later the label winds up for its 50th release and it's a special one, with co-founder Kalm in the hot seat for a solo artist LP.

The first sampler gives a taste of what listeners can expect on the full album via two razor sharp tracks. 'DJ Music' rolls out with classic 2-step breaks, dark sub lines and a minimal but infectious hook. Bringing a dollop of funk and a pinch of grit, this one has that 1am energy locked down nicely.

The drum & bass and bass music community has joined forces once again to create one of largest charity V/A albums we’ve ever seen to raise money for the Ukrainian Red Cross Society in light of the current humanitarian crisis happening right now.

Artists ranging from Billain to Calibre, Noisia to Nu:Tone, Mandidextrous to Malux plus many Ukraianan acts such as Limewax, Dub Head and Warm Roller have all contributed music to Together With Ukraine, a remarkable 136 track album.

Complete with 30 bespoke digital art pieces, curated by renown graphic and cover artist Uno, the project was brought together in just over five days by Ukrainian promoter Vlad Yaremchuk and UK promoter Rhys Bainham who has been based in the region for the last year.

The size, scale and speed of how quickly the album was created has never been seen before and matches the urgency of the situation as the Russian leader has continued to order troops into Ukraine and airstrikes on its key cities since Thursday February 24.

“Action is happening in Kyiv every day. Most people are sticking to homes or staying in bomb shelters, basements or the metro stations,” says Vlad who relocated to a town in the Zhytomyr region 140 km west of the Ukraine capital just days before the invasions began.

“The amount of bombings is worrying. It’s hard to explain it. There’s a large amount of anti-air defence in the city but the Ukrainian troops still have to fight a lot. The major tactic, instead, seems to be bombing the hell out of civilians. There are other cities that aren’t so protected like Mariupol where there is currently no communications, no heating no electricity and they’re not letting humanitarian help do its job.”

Ant TC1 along with Hidden Agenda founded Dispatch Recordings back in 2001, Ant originally helped out with the management side of the label before finding his feet within the realms of production; which was a natural progression for him having DJ’d on pirate radio and in clubs from the age of 14 (since 1992).  His first release alongside frequent production partner Stress Level appeared on Dispatch after almost 3 years of hard work getting their collective sound where they felt it needed to be before even thinking about turning on a DAT recorder.  After their first release hit the stores they quickly picked up a wealth of DJ support across their early material and went on to release for a who’s who list of established Drum & Bass record labels including the likes of Renegade, CIA, Advanced, Critical Records Integral, Liquid V, Commercial Suicide, Good Looking Records, Bingo Beats and Samurai Music.

By demand remix work started to feature heavily within their output and the duo went on to remix for the likes of Hidden Agenda, Chris SU, Artificial Intelligence, Kabuki, Total Science, Optical & Ryme Time (Jagged Edge), Atlantic Connection, Tactile & DJ Marky.  Branching out and working with other producers such as Survival, DLR & Philth has only furthered experience Ant’s skills at the controls over the years, Ant has also released his own solo material more recently on top of remixing for the likes of Lomax on Integral Records.  In 2014 Ant realised a lifetime ambition, securing his first ever release for the legendary Metalheadz label “Hungry For Atmosphere” alongside Mako, DLR & Villem with further releases for the label and counting going into 2024.

Ant’s production output has featured on a mass of compilations and mix CD’s compiled by the likes of Shy FX, LTJ Bukem, Total Science, AI, Spectrasoul, Klute and Brian G.  Additionally his work has featured very heavily within the radio shows of Friction, Grooverider, Fabio, Goldie, Bailey & Rene LaVice on their respective BBC Radio 1 slots over the years as well as BBC 1Xtra where Ant once hosted his own one-off 4 hour show, he has since additionally made 2 guest DJ appearances for DJ Friction on his Radio 1 show.  His DJ’ing work has seen him play all over the globe from Adelaide to Los Angeles, from Hong Kong to Sarajevo, Vancouver to Bangkok and last but by no means least regularly UK and EU wide. Additionally for the most part of the decade beyond 2010 Ant also worked as the Artist Manager for both Outlook and Dimensions Festival in Croatia, leading up the booking process, budgets and travel aspects for the festival.

Fast forward through to 2024; Ant is now responsible for the lead label management roles of both Metalheadz & Dispatch Recordings and is based in Thailand, with a purpose built studio room recently finished the plan (alongside managing a mass of planned record label releases) is to get back to focusing on writing music more consistently than he ever has previously.
