Treacherous Waters

"There is geometry in the humming of the strings. There is music in the spacing of the spheres." - Pythagoras. 

The implication of this quote of music's ability to encapsulate underlying patterns in the cosmos drew me into music. I am a neoclassical composure. I am a recent graduate of Master's program at the University of Cambridge, and will be continuing onto a PHD in the coming year. I have a background philosophy and communication theory. I came into music composition because of my realization that music is a special kind of communication tool that permits one to say or signify many things that can not be said with verbal language. I am a person with physical disabilities, that have prevented me from learning to play any instruments directly. Therefore, I compose electronically using virtual instrument libraries (from east west studios) in the qbase and studio one audio workstations - I use these programs to dictate, orchestrate, mix, and master my music. 

I am chiefly inspired by historical masters of the orchestral cannon, such as Vivaldi, Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Mendelson, Mahler, Rachmaninov, Debussy, and Barber. I am also inspired by modern orchestral composures such as John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Ramin Djawadi, and Max Richter. 

Though music is not my profession it is much more than a hobby. It is a means by which I aim to accomplish a different form of the objective I most aspire to as a scholar. Namely, to provoke useful thought and catalyze productive dialectics in the minds of those who consume my work.

I make epic soundtrack music mixed with ethnic, folk, medieval and electronic instruments for some very unique sounding stuff. My music is usually very melodic, rhythmic and simple yet very diverse.  I absorb my artistic inspirations mainly from video game and movie soundtracks. Some good examples include Future World Music, Two Steps From Hell, Koji Kondo, Jeremy Soule, John Williams and Hans Zimmer. Remember to share this page with your friends if you enjoy the music!
