Our next Guest Mix comes from the outstanding Italian musical collective, Aura Safari.

The band started with the meeting of a musician and a group of DJ’s / producers coming from different musical backgrounds and generations. Aura Safari is the union of various musical eras and influences such as Jazz Fusion, 80’s Boogie, World Music, Italo House, Balearic Beats and Jazz Funk.

Years spent in the local scene of Perugia (Italy) attending Umbria Jazz Festival every summer and winter nights at the legendary Red Zone Club have shaped the sound of Aura Safari.

This mixtape is an example of their true love of music across a vast spectrum.

This week's Spin City Show that aired live on myhouseradio.fm celebrated it's 4th anniversary of being on air. For this special occasion I had a special guest on board for all of your ear lobes. None other than the one and only Eddie C. 

I kicked things off with a few new things, along with a bunch of tracks I've loved, and rinsed, throughout the years. I then handed over to Eddie C who delivered an absolute masterclass from the get go. One of those sets that absolutely grabs you by the short and curlies, and doesn't let go.

Is It Balearic ? Tape # 2

20 years ago, it was pretty much the dawn of the internet for me, I got my first email adress ( that i still use ) and slowly figured out how to order records via GEMM and perhaps an early EBAY. I have no idea how I ended up finding Million Dollar Disco and BringTheHeat but I did, and thats how I met Zernell, Rahaan, Boogie Nite, Sean Souds, Zaf, LoveOnTheRun and Al Kent of course. 
I wanna say Million Dollar Disco was incredibly sophisticated with articles and mixes and a message board. Even then the man in question had this unsatisfyable obsession with everything disco, strings and horns. I remember his Disco Demands  CD comps that later transitioned into epic releases on BBE, a crazy resource of deep disco and uptempo soul.
Later in when I moved to Berlin we've invited him to play our party LEGACY and even though the turn out wasn't great in 2005, he's played an amazing set. Of course. He leaves very little to chance and always brings the craziest edits of the craziest songs.
Later, we did another party when I had moved to Amsterdam. With more people and more Disco. And two of his edits even made it onto a Lumberjacks 12". 
Since then he's edited, produced, compiled, organized and endless amount of music and parties. 
A stubborn, akward, funny scottish trailblazer who's never betrayed his purest of love for Disco, so much so he's certainly in a league of his own.

This is part of a restored and remastered mix originally recorded one evening at The Sense Bar back in 2011. The Sense Bar was a lounge bar in downtown Oslo, known for its intimate atmosphere, superb cocktails and fantastic sound system (a Funktion-One setup if I remember correctly). I had the pleasure of playing at this cosy venue on several occasions during a particularly busy live schedule around 2010-2011. Sadly, The Sense Bar closed its doors in 2015. Rune Lindbæk from the now legendary ‘Those Norwegians’ recording outfit has been releasing music since 1992. He has produced with the disco heroes Todd Terje, Idjut Boys and Lindstrøm, and remixed artists like The Knife, José Gonzalez and Bryan Ferry. He has released music with seminal labels like Smalltown Supersound, Apollo/R&S, Noid and his own Drum Island Records. Rune’s musical output ranges from ambient to film music and balearic dub disco. His unique DJ style has taken him to 25 countries and he held a monthly residency at Oslo´s legendary basement Nomaden for nine years that has been a huge influence on the Norwegian deep disco explosion.
