Floating removes you from the outside world and gives your mind the freedom to wander wherever it wants to go. You have a space where you can lie down, removed from the pressure of thinking, discussing, or participating in anything at all. It’s an environment that exists almost completely opposite our current plugged-in, sensory-driven way of life. Flourishing and regaining back all the dark/bright, warmth/cold, emotive/cheerful, ambiguous and mysterious sensations that has now all but vanished leaving abandoned souls. 

Dycide is a producer / DJ, professional sound designer and visual artist from Munich / Germany. Back in 2014, he established the Dycide pseudonym in order to release mainly minimalistic deep drum and bass. However, he slowly started changing more and more to techno oriented music and, along the way, he and his close friends established @iorecs, an audiovisual label, focusing on experimental ambient and deep techno and atmospheric artwork. Besides these projects David is working as an interactive sound designer and audio software developer.

.CHPTR025 ‘Floating fields’ | Dycide

The Revolving bridge was a portable bridge concept designed by Leonardo Da Vinci intended for military use. The main objective was to facilitate mobility helping armies to navigate unfamiliar terrain with less difficulty, and more easily escape from pursuing forces. A concept that seen from their current musical point of view has a lot to do with it.

“The idea starts from building a bridge between this current abnormality and the return to real life on a sea of ​​sound waves, creating a journey of peaks and valleys around electronics with a horizontal vocation, sound textures and contemporary chamber music”.

a_mal_gam_a took shape, back in 2016, when Diskoan (Juan Peralta) and Josephine's Soundscapes (José Salas) joined forces to create a research platform to explore electronic music beyond conventional parameters.

In this DJ-set they bring the dynamics of their sessions at "Avalovara, club de escucha", a pioneering monthly listening club in Madrid, where the most unusual music and visuals induce the attendees to a special state that encourages active listening and sensory experience mixed with (less conventional) ludic enjoyment.

In April 2021, a_mal_gam_a has curated the program for En Pausa, a festival  dedicated to horizontal music and deep listening.

The session was recorded in the @radio-relativa studios in Madrid.

“For this podcast I would like to purpose some heterogeneity of electronic music I love, make me dance, smile and cry on it” - says Nicolas. 

Thorm is an electronic music french producer based in Paris starting back in 2014. Influenced by all the things life has to offer, his musical range can go from peaceful ambient and experimental sounds to Lo-Fi and dusky techno. Nicolas works a lot on the texture of the sound and on ambiences, drawing inspiration from movies soundtracks as well as modern and contemporary arts. 

“I hope this podcast composed in the 8 floor of my suburb Parisian flat give to you happiness and power” - Nicolas concludes.

The set is inspired around the central theme of the album Ipnopedion made by Timo van Luijk & Frederik Croene. An album superbly built from the hypnosis session that Pier Fortunato Zanfretta agreed to undergo in order to find meaning after he had been abducted by a UFO. A sonic invitation that extracts how it feels to be taken by extraterrestrial forces.

Compulsive buyer of electronic listening vinyls based in Madrid, Javier Camuñas says: “I like how these types of semi-nightmare dreamlike passages remain in the central parts of the sets, with moments of tension-relaxation, drone, dark-jazz…”

Words that are perfectly reflected in all his neatness and healing mixes, offering us what his precious shelves hide.

Human beings are social beings by nature. We live in community and interactions are an obligation for survival. They enrich and favor our personal development, being a critically important component for health and longevity. 

‘With You’ is an ode to human interactions, a theme of special relevance in the times we are living. The things we do together, the space between us, the silence, the words, the lack of words, the consequences. 

Oisatsana is the new project from experimental Spanish musician Tasio Rey. After having some experience in techno production under the name 'How to levitate', Oisatsana is a new identity that looks for a sound free of boundaries, approaching styles like glitch, drone, ambient, generative music and anything in between.

Tasio adds: “The following set is a mix of various styles and it is a good summary of the things that I am listening to the most lately and that inspire me to do music like Oisatsana”. 

Certainly, a very unique sound and extremely compact trip ‘with you’.

“This is one of poetry terms, that means a pause used for effect within a line of poetry”- Masaya says. In music, a caesura denotes a brief silent pause. But, how long is the silence? As such the silence is as short or long as the conductor deems necessary.

Lots of beautiful brief silent pauses among outstanding instrumental melodic pieces, subtle and classy percussions, the crack and hiss of inviting noisy sounds, delicate rough textures, gentle ambient drones, charming voices,…managing to create a situation of tension-relaxation very intriguing and fascinating. 

Masaya Kato is a Japanese composer and sound artist based in Yokohama. Influenced much by poetry, video or performing arts and based on perception and cutaneous senses in daily life. Typically his compositions are born out of Fender Rhodes or Piano sketches along with additional sounds of magnetic noises.

We definitely like the idea of a caesura  between music narratives, a space which listeners can fill in with their own speculative history.

An absolute treat for number fifty-two from Tbilisi based @saphileaum .The talented producer with a knack for percussive, minimal rhythms recently released an incredibly dreamy EP via @goodmorningtapes. Prior to that Andro has put out an impressive string of releases which have garnered international attention, via labels like  Silent Season, Oslated and more.

This mix is a beautiful showcase of Andro's ability to mesmerise through music... complex and intricate rhythms wound together in a relaxing and sublime manner.

Animix Fifty Two: Saphileaum

Have you ever gone outside on a cloudy day and smelled that it was going to rain? Or, after a rainstorm, noticed that there was a certain smell in the air? Childhood memories come to mind when playing in the puddles of water was the best moment of the day. It was the time when the smell of earth meant the onset of a joyous season.

Petrichor is the term given to that unique scent following a rain shower – when the world seems to sigh with pleasure, and we, unconsciously perhaps, breathe in a little more deeply, savouring the smells in return.

Francesco Piunti is the man behind @deepbreakfastseries, a brilliant and touchfull mix series focused on ambient sounds. Our maximum true respect for the dedication, knowledge and excellent way of doing. Returning to the term petrichor, Francesco gives us a short poem from Leah Snyder that goes like this:

“I step outside, the sky above gray as slate
petrichor seeping up through the grass,
engulfing my state of mind as i inhale
and guiding me into a place of hushed abstraction”.

Definitely, petrichor is more than just a happy smell. It is a promise of abundance, a welcome chance of survival and shelter, and a hope that the merry childhood days will be back again.

Everyone at some point in their existence experiences a critical moment in their busy life where big decisions can lead to big change, both at work and in life. A turning point that make your life never be the same again. A new you, a new us.

David is a die-hard record collector who has been playing them around the North of Spain and Europe for more than 15 years now. Since three years ago he's more focused on Escala de Grisos, his monthly radio show on a local station, where he plays and discuss about ambient, techno and anything in between as well as making some interviews.

David has recorded the following mix with that feeling of knowing that something huge is about to change in his life, just like what happened at .apart in a way. Hence the name translated into Catalan :)

A magnificent true personal musical journey where he captures with great sense and extreme delicacy a long list of antonyms such as fear-hope, uncertainty-desire…

To sum up overall, David shares the following poem:

"... As if it were a migratory journey, we move away voluntarily or forced, unfortunately some, from a cold and normally noisy city full of hectic lives and people with a thirst for power. A walk towards nature/forest where human voices cease to exist to transform into animal sounds causing a feeling of refuge and closeness. We leave behind a world of concrete and welcome the sounds of mother earth.

Milan native Matteo, a clearly devotee of nature, investigates sound with high enthusiansm and dedication. He wonderfully creates a mellow amalgam of layers using over-reverberated synths, field recordings, and self-created samples. Atoloi is constantly searching for another dephts in which the listener can get lost while getting submerged by heavy-grained noises and evocative instrumental compositions.

Matteo has left us the following text: “I tried to represent this slow march in a real and, at the same time, emotional forest, in which memories and the outer cosmos merge into a unique and cathartic experience.

A pleasant stroll through the forests of Ego. “A universe born from the perfect union between the external environment and the inmost emotional unconscious”.

Aboard a spaceship lined from top to bottom with neon lights and made of sound remnants, noises, samples, field recordings and modular synthesizers; we're heading somewhere where we're just pure spectators. During the trip piloted by Mocrobo, a rich auditory landscape full of magnificent sound waves of different shapes/sizes can be seen/heard through the ship's windows. Melodic and harmonic at times but loud and terrifying at others. Distant voices and modules weaving a varied network of shots that cover styles such as pop, ambient, noise or trip hop.

Victor is an experimental musical artist from Jaén (Spain) who is difficult to classify and comes from the most extreme confines of metal. His creations took a radical turn towards the electronic field attracted by the great variety of nuances and possibilities that exist in the synthesis of sound and experimentation with classical processed instruments.

Victor reminds us that ‘if for someone being locked up at home is a better idea than going out for fresh air, perhaps a Lyra 8 could become a great friend’.

Italian producer, founder of Immaterial.Archives - CYB is the guest of #80 episode of Polish Techno.logy.

CYB is an Italian drummer, producer and dj based in Amsterdam.
As a musician he’s always been looking for a personal, racy and original style. As a Dj he likes experiencing primarily with all the shades of Techno and Intelligent Dance Music mixing atmospheric melodies with an articulated, percussive and complex rhythmic texture.
After a long militancy as drummer for Ulan Bator (FR), Object (FR), Dilatazione (IT) and La Band del Brasiliano (IT) CYB was heavily influenced by the pulsating techno scene starting to experiment with synthesizers and drum machines. In June 2015 he released an EP with the italian duo Goldstreet for Elastica Records. In January 2018, after long sessions in studio, he released a first Ep in collaboration with Elisa Batti, “M/W”, on the prestigious American label Detroit Underground.
In 2018 they founded Immaterial.Archives debuting with "Between Viewers and Spaces", which featured excellent remixes by Michal Jablonski and Wrong Assessment. For the second and third chapter "Undersea Mountains Pt.1 e Pt.2", released on 2019, they had the pleasure of having other four brillant contributions from Alfredo Mazzilli, Keikari, VSK and Kaiser.
2020 starts with IA004 "Doomed to Reverberate", the first Various Artists on Immaterial.Archives curated by Cyb.
He composed also original soundtracks for advertisings, visual performances and dance pièces.
His aim is focused on bringing the audience into his personal narration and interpretation of electronic music in order to solicit the most helpful feedbacks, to amplify the perception of music and then, as a consequence, to foster interest and ideas around it.

One month passed another and today we are bringing music mixed by Dutch DJ Van Anh.
It was a really beautiful day in the Amsterdam, back then in summer 2019, when we met her for the first time. Half a year after that well-spent afternoon in the iconic Red Light Radio, Van Anh, who is using her real name as an artist moniker, is verifying her DJ versatility she is known for. In this mix she is showing some glitchy breaks of her collection and her ability to layer them with ease. 
In the Netherlands, Van Anh runs an event organization Isotoop. As a crew, they are putting effort in organizing club nights, as the highlight of their activity may be considered the ‘Under The Stars’ festival, that took place in the Moroccan desert. 

On 9 April Isotoop will expand to Prague and will host a night in Meetfactory. Aside Peter Van Hoesen, Artefakt, Deniro, Multicast Dynamics and Van Anh herself, Alfred and Yan from our collective were also asked to join the roster. So, take this as a kind invitation from them and hopefully see you there!
