Skankandbass is dedicated towards the official promotion of record labels and artists in the world of drum & bass music. Since inception in 2009, Skankandbass has unearthed some of the freshest talents in the scene and has opened many doors for unsigned artists. Now, through Skankandbass Introducing we release a series of free download singles which aims to spread the work of the best unsigned, newcomer artists who deserve more recognition.

As drum & bass becomes an increasingly global scene, it often has the power to unite people across continents and oceans.  This is the case with SNB087 which comes from young talents Leniz and Painted Skies, who are based in Holland and Mexico respectively.  The duo have featured across a plethora of labels including Galacy, Fokuz and Differential (where Leniz acts as A&R); and they now bring their exquisite liquid sound to Skankandbass Introducing on ‘Back When / Let Me Love You Once More’.

Your favourite futuristic dance duo Bop x Subwave are back on Hospital Records with their highly awaited debut album ‘Renaissance’. Following on from the huge successes of their previous EPs ‘Love and Other Drugs’ and ‘Dream On’ which furthered solidified their commendable reputation in the electronic music scene, the pairing’s first-ever collaborative longplayer consists of 14 tracks which perfectly demonstrate their creative mastery and unmatched abilities to experiment with various styles spanning indie electronic, lo-fi jungle, garage, techno and more. 

Setting things in motion you’ll find ‘Cold Tear of a Dreaming Vacuum Cleaner’, a mellow yet energising electronica-meets-D&B cut guaranteed to permeate your headspace with hypnotising synth plucks, bouncy drumwork and ambient atmospheres directly transported from a futuristic nearby universe.

Expect nothing but 80’s euphoria on ‘Storm In A Teacup’ featuring Isaac Howlett - the frontman of synthpop group Empathy Test. Bop x Subwave provide late night nostalgia in its purest form with retro drum machines and catchy electronic hooks as Isaac Howlett supplies distinct melodies and imaginative lyricism.

The strikingly titled ‘Rave I Didn’t Know Was The Last’ is a glimmer into the now distant past of lockdowns and worldwide no-dance policies. Delving into a beautiful combination of garage and breakbeat influences, you’ll soon become immersed in hands-in-the-air piano stabs and downpitched vocal chops instantly taking you back to the last rave you blissfully danced the night away at.

‘Hush’ featuring fellow Russian drum & bass don Enei, and Hospital’s freshest signing SOLAH, is a techy drum & bass liquid number layered with hazy chimes, minimal 2-step drums and a sinister bassline. Stripped back and rolling, SOLAH’s vocals are a sublime addition as she graces the track with her delicate harmonies and captivating lyricism.

In true Bop x Subwave fashion, ‘Addicted To Space’ is a UK-garage stepper complete with subtle lo-fi injections. As they step into the 130BPM territory brace yourself for dissonant chord stabs, distorted vocal chops and a womping bassline. This isn’t the duo’s first rodeo in the world of garage either - their initial UKG collaboration ‘Haze’ topped the Beatport Garage charts back in 2020.

Other notable album moments include the irresistable 80’s synth-pop anthem ‘Wait For Me’ released earlier in 2022, as well as ‘Euphoric Rush’ featuring the vocals of Enter Shikari’s very own Rou Reynolds. Karina Ramage also makes an appearance on the straight serotonin supplier ‘Run Away’, whilst Bop x Subwave continue to make their mark as two of the finest producers dance music has to offer.

In 2015 Hospitality reached new heights with eighty-two shows reaching over twenty countries across the globe! We’ve recreated the unparalleled atmosphere of a Hospitality dance-floor in our huge 60-track compilation.

‘Hospitality 2016’ brings you the biggest tracks from the current drum & bass scene including 25 brand new exclusives that are set to take the year by storm.

In the first of 2 full CD length mixes dive into fresh tracks from Fred V & Grafix, Krakota, Logistics, Metrik, Urbandawn and an extra something special from no other than High Contrast! Med School have gone from strength to strength and with their 10th year on the horizon we get a taste of what’s to come with brand new music from Keeno, Anile and Whiney.

In the second hour we’re spoilt for choice with previously unreleased tracks from Nu:Tone, S.P.Y and the Gresham duo Nu:Logic. There are refreshing remixes in store including Diego Torres’ rework of the London Elektricity classic “Had A Little Fight” and the long awaited Logistics spin on Etherwood’s “Light My Way Home” featuring Eva Lazarus.

We’ve brought in a whole load of the scenes exciting newcomers including the mysterious Dawn Wall, the USA’s bundle of energy Ownglow and smooth movers Pola & Bryson.

I just want to say how humbled I am to have received the support that I have for the last 4 years. It's been one hell of a journey. I love you all.

Vocal veterans DRS & Dynamite present ‘Playing In The Dark’, the debut LP from their collaborative project released on Hospital Records. These two pivotal figures, who have stood at the forefront of drum & bass for over two decades, have now teamed up with an array of globally respected producers including Calibre, Roni Size, Nu:Tone, S.P.Y, DJ Zinc, Chimpo and DJ Marky, to create an uncharted 16-track LP. Following on from the success of the pair’s first single ‘Fix It All (feat. London Elektricity)’, sit back and get ready to embark on the lyrical journey of a lifetime.

Getting straight to work, ‘Back & Forth’ sees the flows of DRS & Dynamite effortlessly bounce off each other over a relentless S.P.Y instrumental. Cold bars and a fierce bassline set the track up to be timeless, that will ignite sound systems worldwide. Following suit, rave legend DJ Zinc lends his vast depths of experience for ‘Get Down’, a high energy roller with bouncing vocal hooks, energising drums and that signature catchy low-end that Zinc’s become so famed for.

Affirming his status as a true mic champion, DRS demonstrates an ability to complement his heavy hitting flows with dynamic vocal melodies in title track ‘Playing In The Dark (feat. The Vanguard Project)’, coupled with Dynamite’s sharp and meaningful lyrics, they explore the importance and inequality surrounding MC and lyricist culture within D+B. Reminiscent of their love for pirate radio, ‘Highrise FM’ sees DRS & Dynamite reflect on memories of spreading music and good vibes which still shines brightly to this day. The track is produced by none other than the liquid-funk, ambient and downtempo pioneer Calibre. Leading figure of the jungle and drum & bass movement Roni Size also steps up for ‘Not The Fakes Ones’. This remarkable link up of three legends within the scene culminates in a truly up front and in your face record, exactly what we’ve come to expect from the Reprazent pioneer.

DRS first came across Dynamite during his time in Roni Size’s Bristol collective Reprazent, the winners of the 1997 Mercury Prize ‘Album Of The Year’, now showing full circle movements in 2020. ‘Playing In The Dark’ pays respect to this collaboration and the combination of styles which is signalled so clearly throughout DRS and Dynamite’s sound. As Dynamite explains that “the producers [brought] their pallets” for himself and DRS “to paint on”, the duo were able to convey their message, history and wisdom in one of the most boundary pushing projects that drum & bass has seen.
