Call This Moving On

Turbulence in the Chamber explores the inner workings of The Cloud. The piece explores the claustrophobic atmosphere inside the modern Data Centre. The composition of sound in the piece serves as a stifling electroacoustic transmission that envelops the listener with mechanical chatter and cyclical hum. The piece identifies fundamental frequencies within a particular data centre. They are isolated and are then used to create a harmonic remix of the space to reflect the environment’s ‘sonic signature’. The bass frequencies come from the sound of a compressor connected to the universal power supply (UPS) within the space that dramatically dumps air. The piece feels immersive; lower frequencies swell as a series of animations form a caged like environment reflective of the experience of human interaction in the space but also reflective of the security aspects of the digital content stored within the endless racks of data storage.

Turbulence in the chamber

Sound recording of a data walk made with the Phantom Terrains platform, sonifying the hidden landscapes of wireless networks.

The sound of each network is heard originating from the router's geographical location, producing clicks whose frequency rises with the signal strength — akin to a layered series of Geiger counters. Routers with particularly strong signals "sing" their network name (SSID), with pitch corresponding to the broadcast channel, and a lower sound denoting the network's security mode.

This little tune evolved from words by Annie (https://soundcloud.com/annie-dieu-le-veut/where-two-seas-meet). I fed them to UDIO, being kinda misinterpreted there. So what. The instrumental part was very nice, so I stripped off the "wrong" interpretation and replaced it by the kindly provided one from Annie. Et voilá: A little gem!

This time we went for a ladies' vocals tune by alternative AI provider SUNO. Their extension, delivered to the original first take, is interesting (and thus incorporated) but seems only loosely connected. So what. They carefully got stitched together, seperated into stems, heavily processed to sound more non-AI. 
This is what the result is.

I Need a Light

Another adventure into the creative AI world of UDIO -- this time heading for a folk tinged tune. Mixing two versions, polishing the sounds and balances, and adding some little ear candy bits (flute, oboe, strings) completed the production process. Enjoy!

Web Of The Wyrd

This track will guide you through an ancient technique which helps to retrieve and cultivate empowerment and magnetism.

@APi_ZZ has quite brilliantly used specific sound frequencies in the music which support this practice. He found that the resonance of my drumming was of the frequency 109 Hz, close to the 108 Hz which is the sound tuning used to heal the sacral chakra. So he fine-tuned the drumming frequencies to that exact 108 Hz.

He then put the whole thing to music, using flute and Tibetan sound bowls attuned to the frequency of 432 Hz. He also added a bowl drone sound (again at 432 Hz), augmented by bells chiming in deeply associated frequencies of (again) 108 Hz, 162 Hz, and 243 Hz and a second bowl at 364.5 Hz. These frequencies relate to the sacral, solar, heart and throat chakras.

I had the "duty", but certainly mainly the pleasure to figure illustrative music for that. Here is our result.

Hero

In the last weeks DMs swept in from assumed new fans, praising one's musical talent in glowing words and phrases. A few "innocent" Thank-yous later their promo sales machines got fired. I admit: I had some fun in detecting their innocence in marketing and expose their poor strategies (often seemingly right out of some obscure how-to "handbook"). All gave up after a while, some disappointed or disillusioned, some just irritated and deprived of valid arguments. Poor souls sometimes ... 
Anyway, I took some ot the opening sentences from those advancements and a few claims et voilá: lyrics were written. SUNO took care of the musical presentation, which I polished a bit more with adding drums, organ and mixing.

Fake Fame

Over at Mix Challenge (https://mix-challenge.com/) they run the Songwriting Competition for September 2024; the theme is "Mental Health Awareness Month". Music is said to have a supportive effect when positively dealing with this matter. My contribution tries to do so with this softly chiming, meditative track.

Conciliation

This is a little exercise 'bout the phenomenon "(for a man) to comment on or explain something, to a woman, in a condescending, overconfident, and often inaccurate or oversimplified manner". 
An 'innocent' SUNO track from a girl presents layers of that phenomenon ... all lyrics are non-AI -- yep, that still happens ... Additional drums.

Being musician and artist "since ages", the last two decades and all the developments in digital music broadened my interests and activities in doing music actively and passively. Not being shy of any genre (OK, leave off some Punk and Extreme Metal derivates) I engage in composing, arranging, mixing and collaborating. 

Oh, and I do all my artwork and designs as well. And as you may notice I regard AI as a friendly helper.

Have a few looks & listens into my repertoire and eventually gain some insights. I'm always open for collabs if the the interests match ...
