Under the unusual casing of the Schönfeld album are many small cogwheels, whirring drive belts, elastic support straps and clattering cylinder heads that want to push the experimental device towards the dance floor and succeed in doing so. An ant city with a functioning infrastructure from whose towers the trumpet riffs, professionally played by the master himself, resound. The stubborn otherness with the artist's masticating signature is what secures the album a temporary place on my Mp3 player. For this premiere we go for the winding, hypnotic and elastic Have a Break, Have a Cat. Enjoy.

Syrinx Music steps up with its first 2024 release, in the form of a new EP from Paris-area producer lucieter. In the course of its four tracks, emerge submerges the listener in sonic landscapes reflective of Lucie Ternisien’s aesthetics. Taking cues from her works in visual arts, lucieter’s music feels both oneiric and poetic, with atmospheres switching from the menacing tones of “les Ciels” to the soothing vibes of “Libellule”.

Soundwise, emerge hints towards ambient, experimental & leftfield music, as well as dub techno and IDM in their more cinematic and evocative aspects. lucieter seamlessly melts her own voice with field recordings, organic sounds & synthetic waves, to create tracks that display a distinct sense of the narration. Each of these four tunes feels like a canvas for lucieter’s poetry to hover above, yet the vocals occupy the same space as all the other sound components: Lucie Ternisien’s whispers, fragmented, pitched, or echoed words act as expressive pieces of sounds, designed to carry each track’s pictures and emotions.

emerge seems to mirror its artwork: it feels both blurred and deeply emotional, with very different elements blending in cohesive, nostalgic vignettes. Its release goes along with a video representation of “Libellule”, as well as a companion poem.

Tread Lightly is a moody EP that explores spacious and understated Dub Techno and IDM with the aforementioned genre's signature intricacies and deep basslines. Every minor sound has a purpose and the attention to detail is astounding. Remixes are provided by Bleupulp and label co-runner Nick Burgess.

ARC is an artist run dance music label focusing on releasing singles and EPs from sound designers featuring radical sound design and producer collaboration. No genres, no rules, just rippers.

Nick Burgess is a student of proper Detroit rave. He prioritizes the groove while seamlessly weaving between deep acidic Techno hypnosis and punishing Industrial sonics while also throwing in funkier, breakier and old school curveballs to keep the floor guessing. In under 2 years since making his debut, Nick has played all hours of the night including 6 hour all nighters across notable Detroit venues such as Leland City Club, Marble Bar, Tangent Gallery and several D.I.Y. locations. He has shared the bill with the likes of Black Asteroid, Andi (Synthicide), The Brvtalist, Anklepants, Myn, Lucinee, Lifka and Three Faces of Eve (Atroxx). As a producer, his hypnotic and abrasive productions have been released through labels PITS, Junted, Collapsed Structures and his co-owned label, Apocalypse Rave Culture.
