Dutch artist and composer Andert Tysma come out from behind the shadows to release his debut album on Apollo Records this autumn. The seasoned musician has toured the world performing bass and piano with several artists and bands, and on ‘Children Of Trinoom’, Tysma fully immerses himself in a solo offering of breathtaking quality.

Recorded primarily in Atlas Studios on the outskirts of Berlin and engineered and mixed by the award winning Robin Hunt, who constructed a unique recording space in a repurposed GDR metal foundry, the long player brings together eight emotive and tender compositions showcasing the refreshing neo-classic style that Tysma has made his own.

A visit to Nashville, Tennessee and a love of country music led to the incorporation of the pedal steel guitar into Tysma’s music, played beautifully by David Gram on two tracks here. ‘Children Of Trinoom’ continues to take influence from everyday situations and decisions, as well as from the world of art, music and literature. The album is, in part, inspired by the Dutch jazz conductor, pianist, trumpeter and latterly (like Tysma himself), a doctor, Boy Edgar.

The entirely instrumental suite of compositions tells an abstract autobiographical story in eight diverging tracks, investigating the juxtaposition of a disparate world, an essential theme for Tysma.

2018 is the year we re-present some amazing music from Maarten van der Vleuten on Apollo and R&S Records.

Maarten is one of the most influential figures in the Dutch scene, and also a man of many aliases - between 1987 to 2007 he racked up releases with over two dozen projects producing Detroit techno, electro, house, experimental and ambient tracks and remixes.

The ‘Moonwater’ album under the alias In-Existence was one of the very first Apollo releases.  It had a limited release in early 1993 in-between classic albums from Aphex Twin (Selected Ambient Works), Biosphere (Microgravity) and Mixmaster Morris’ debut Irresistible Force long player.

Listening in 2018 the album still feels vital and fresh well over two decades since they were recorded and should be enjoyed by anyone with a love for discovering beautiful ambient and electronica.

SW's lush sound design and hypnotic arrangements of 2017’s ’The Album’ had hearts and minds swooning following it’s license from SUED to Apollo.
It’s balmy glory won over Pitchfork ('deeply expressive debut album’ 8/10), Rolling Stone (best electronic albums 2017) and XLR8R (Best releases 2017) amongst many others. 

One year later, SW and SVN have gone into the studio, together; “to make some original music specifically for Apollo. The results are the 6 tracks on this EP,” they share in a typically taciturn statement.

Taking inspiration from the iconic house and techno of the mid / late 90s - SW and SVN combine dreamy melodies and mesmeric grooves with unfussy, focussed minimalism, their beguiling, modern take on classic sounds and rhythms remains thrillingly unique and elusive. 

While SW and SVN are more comfortable out of the limelight, this 6 track EP for Apollo once again proves that they are rightly worthy of the hype that swirls around them.
