"Convivium" is Mario Diaz de Leon's third album under his ONEIROGEN alias, and follows the "Plenitude" EP, released in 2015. It was developed over a period of two and a half years, primarily through live performance in the metal and noise underground of NYC. Like its predecessor, the album's core instrumentation is an array of hypnotic synthesizer riffs, pummeling percussion, distorted vocals, and surging noise. With "Convivum", Diaz de Leon has crafted a powerful and singular work of heavy electronic music.

A charged sense of anticipation permeates the music, sustaining tension and mystery through spans of repetition and moments of rupture. The songs build towards hedonistic climaxes, which yield to sparse, expansive passages in which every sonic detail is vividly heard. Inspired in part by Bataille's "Erotism", which connects the "rupture of boundaries" common to sex, mystical ecstasy and ritual sacrifice, as well as the work of psychologist Stanislov Grof on the impacts of birth trauma on the human psyche, "Convivium" is an incantatory journey through primal and dark creative forces.

The artistic output of Mario Diaz de Leon spans a wide range. In addition to his work as Oneirogen, he is highly active as a composer of modern classical music (with a 2016 commission from the LA Philharmonic and releases on Tzadik and Denovali), and is the frontman of Luminous Vault, his recently formed death metal band. Envisioning all of his activity as part of a spiritual practice, he considers Oneirogen to be the most personal side of his work.

"It's just me producing everything, and of course I perform it alone as well." he explains. "Each album is a kind of personal trial or rite of passage. As someone who also works in the classical tradition, I think of them as my symphonies. Its a project where i'm open to all my influences, and i'm entering into mystery and the unknown, battling to carve essences out of formlessness."

bRUNA and Wooky are two key figures in Spanish electronic music. Regulars in the line-ups of festivals such as Mutek, Primavera Sound and Sónar, where they have performed on many occasions, both have a solid recording career behind them, which has led to them becoming part of the Red Bull Music Academy and topping the best of the year lists (bRUNA’s two LP's were named "Album of the Year" in Spain in 2009 and 2013).

Both are also co-directors of Lapsus, a multidisciplinary project founded in 2004 that has established three lines of activity: Lapsus Radio, their famous program on National Radio of Spain; Lapsus Festival, the avant-garde electronic music festival held annually at the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona; and Lapsus Records, for which they have already published distinguished artists such as Pye Corner Audio, Dalhous, Plaid, Etch, Kettel and Ametsub.

So it is of no surprise that the union of both creative talents would result in a split recording sooner or later. "Archives" is their first adventure together and also their personal vision of ambient music and its different branches. A further twist in the career of two unique artists.

Lapsus is also proud to announce that bRUNA and Wooky will be premiering "Archives" at Sónar Festival 2016 on June 18th along with the incomparable Alba G. Corral, who will be in charge of visual support to this really special occasion. 

The beautiful photographs that make up the artwork on the album are by Albert Miralles, Cristina Salinas and Alfons Pich, and the design was created by the studio Basora.

Meeting By Chance AKA Skalpel’s Marcin Cichy debuts on Apollo with a gorgeous EP of soulful atmospheric electronica, suffused with aching negative space, softly ticking rhythms and dulcet piano.

Classically trained on piano since his youth and one of the youngest Polish National TV music composers ever, Marcin quickly developed a taste for electronic music, composing soundtracks for some of Poland’s influential and pioneering video artists throughout the 80s and 90s.

But it was when he founded the acclaimed jazz duo Skalpel with Igor Pudło in 1998 that things really got going.  Over the course of their three albums and many EPs to date Scalpel have won huge acclaim, signing to Ninja Tune, and, winning Poland’s most prestigious cultural award Paszport POLITYKI as well as performing with Mira Calix, Clark, Kronos Quartet and AUKSO Orchestra among many others.

Following a serious skateboarding accident, Marcin backbone was broken in two places which meant a year spent between a bed and on a wheelchair. This period saw the beginning of his solo career as Meeting by Chance (the name inspired by a series of pictures by Duane Michals showing the reaction of two men crossing in an alley). 

In contrast to Skalpel’s more jazz infused upbeat vibe MBC finds Marcin exploring the combination of delicate textural sound design with enveloping billowy pads and ethereal piano chords. Cichy displays an introspective lightness of touch that is quite rare in today’s bombastic modern electronica which is most welcome and perfectly fits in with Apollo Records.

Lapsus Records proudly presents the third release in its “Perennial” series, dedicated to reissuing contemporary electronica classics from established artists. 

The third release is from Christopher Scott Leary, who over the last two decades has produced a plethora of material under his pseudonym, Ochre. 2019 marks 15 years since the original release of “A Midsummer Nice Dream” in 2004; on British label Toytronic, which pushed Leary to the forefront of the experimental electronic music sphere. To celebrate the releases’ fifteenth anniversary, Lapsus Records will reissue a special collector’s edition of this IDM classic in the form of a double tri-colour vinyl release, re-mastered by John McCaig (panicStudios). It will also include a full-colour print of the new artwork, re-designed by Portland (Oregon) illustrator Nathaniel Reeves, who has worked alongside Ochre for almost a ten years. 

This special deluxe reissue entitled “A Midsummer Nice Dream (15th Anniversary Edition)“, features unreleased material from the same period and includes three bonus tracks on its vinyl version, six on its digital version, making it a truly unique release. It therefore offers a golden opportunity to rediscover an album that navigates through several genre domains such as ambient, IDM and experimental electronica in its purest form, stylistically reminiscent of the likes of Autechre, conveying a sound considerably ahead of its time. In its entirety “A Midsummer Nice Dream” is undoubtedly one of the most remarkable electronica glitch albums to be released in the 2000s, when the genre experienced its zenith, largely thanks to the advent of significant breakthroughs in digital production tools.
