Files bossman and 2014 RBMA Tokyo alumnus Krizzli brings some minimalistic heat in the form of the 3 tracks that got him into the academy this year. 

Krizzli of Lausanne was a man of many talents and occupations before shifting his full focus to music production - among them studying space technology, co-running a Swiss electronic music label and playing the clarinet in a marching band. 

Krizzli's alias is inspired by a grizzly bear and his music is inspired by anything he thinks is fun. It would be hard and unfair to label these tracks as something genre-specific, since they come from various places and influence pools, but what they do have in common is, as Sluggy Ranks would put it, their positive vibes and conscious style. 

21 Hundreds is a sort of a 3-stage platform game made of witty percussion and samples, where surprising sounds just keep popping up all over the place. Space grime meets hybrid bass music meets explosions meets abstract rhythms, if you wish. 2014 was a great debut year for this Swiss producer and 2015 will probably be even more so.

Twenty-something Dutch born, Berlin-based producer Pascal Terstappen is better known to the world under the production guise of Applescal. Blurring the lines between Beats, Ambient Electronica & low-key Techno,  Applescal's cinematic sound will take you on a sonic journey through the upper echelons of the dream world.

Having released three albums and a string of singles on his own Atomnation imprint, Cologne based Traum Schallplatten & Italy's Tarvisium Electronique and others he's prolific by nature. With a strong ear for melody he holds the ability to create beautiful textural soundscapes that swirl, stall and plateau for a thoroughly engaging listening experience. His latest work, the five-track 'Mirage' EP is a rough and ready package of oscillating acid Techno, cinematic House with some Eastern flavours. Darker than is previous endeavours it's not dissimilar to the work of Jon Hopkins.

Pointing in the sonic direction of his own label and also Berlin's Project Mooncircle, Hyp 192 is a blend of syncopated beat lullabies and organic sampled sounds that will wash over you like a flood of warm, positive energy. Opening with a transcendental symphony from PMC's Long Arm, the mix is peppered with nostalgia, featuring cuts from Télépopmusik, the badman Deft, Portable Sunsets & there's even a subtle Arcade Fire edit slipped in. Meditative and free-flowing, you will feel as if you have woken from a long and peaceful sleep after listening...

Dark Matters is proud to announce it's fourth release, Chromatic Dreams, courtesy of label boss Amirali. With his avant-garde concoction of electronica, techno and house, the EP is constructed of two original tracks and one remix; courtesy of Midnight Operator, the duo made up of Mathew Jonson and his brother, Nathan. This is Amirali’s first sonic exercise on the label since the debut release, Fearful Stay.

The first track on the compilation “Chromatic Dreams” is skilfully executed, keeping the dark and psychedelic vibe that Dark Matters is becoming known for. It has dreamy vocals that echo with 80’s synth and a drum pattern that is reminiscent of techno. The breakdown creates a whirlpool of different associations, the depth of the bass and stutter of the overlaying synths is a mesmerising mixture.

“Maladaptive Lover” is built on synth melodies that give the track a spacey vibe. David Bowie played a big part in Amirali’s creative inspiration, this track is an eccentric ode to the space man, a modern and dark underground pop interpretation of Bowie’s influences, the eccentric, the dreamy and the avant-garde.

Midnight Operator’s remix of “Maladaptive Lover” reinvents the track, the most dance-floor ready cut of the EP. The dreamy energy, although maintained in the synth patterns is now much more intense. The melody drives forward and doesn't linger in self contemplation as Amirali’s original tracks do. The vocals soar through the machine bleeps and faltering high end, tumbling into a crescendo.

The Dark Matters imprint is a cohesive experience where the weird and unusual is encouraged, aiming to push people to the edge of their comfort zones and keep them there. Aiming to stand out, this EP fits perfectly into the evolving compilation of releases from Dark Matters.

A first-ever collaboration between established electro commanders Luke Eargoggle and Sync 24 opens the record in toxic floor burner fashion, followed by a cold and tightly programmed electro journey by -=UHU=-, blending the mechanic and the monotone in a comment on today’s relationship between machine and man. 

Building on strong previous releases with Lobster Theremin and Klasse Wrecks, Privacy kicks off the flip and takes the tempo down with a booming, melodic electro cut, followed by a funky acid workout by Etcher featuring his signature bubbly basslines and soothing synths.
