Yoruba Records has been a force in the scene since its first release in 1999. Operated by the much-acclaimed artist and producer, Osunlade. The label has given us some of the most consistent and diverse music ranging from deep house to soulful jazz. Although dance has been its core in the past, Yoruba has stretched and experimented with jazz, soul, and diverse electronica, transforming as times change with an array of artists offering very different styles. From conception, the label’s spiritual connection has been its priority. Guided by the energies and vibrations allowing passions to create not only classics but honest music that reflect the soul of each artist.  More than 300 releases deep, Yoruba Records continues to push boundaries and is recognized as one of the worlds most important dance labels.

 

Now Mr Flip is a native of New Jersey, and his love of music was born and developed back in the Bronx.  Taught to rap at 12 years old by his cousin, he perfected his craft between the Bronx, and Baltimore. Later travelling to LA where he formed a bond with Osunlade.  Since his debut release ‘Dance Circle,’ Mr Flip has been busy completing his first full length album. The first single, ‘Hit Different,’ sets the tone and lays the foundation for the upcoming full length excursion, ‘Next Level Shit.’

 

‘Hit Different’ is graced with treatments from underground royalty including renowned DJ, producer and integral part of Arrested Development, DJ Kemit, NDATL front man, Kai Alce,  Atjazz artist and Osunlade protégé Afefe Iku, and lastly Transmat’s very own Kevin Reynolds!  Does it get any bigger than that?   While the original kicks off with with sultry stabs, Afro Soca beats and Flip’s cadence, the remixes open up whole new territories. DJ Kemit’s ‘Rebel Mix’ dubs us out with his hypnotic offering in the Steele Pulse vibe, where Kai Alce delivers a much-needed rinse and clean with his ‘NDATL Vox Style Mix’, ready for skaters and dancers alike. A welcome return to Kevin Reynolds as he delivers his transitions with some otherworldly Detroit shit, which then in turn inspires Afefe Iku to blesses us with his mix from Kevin’s remix parts.

Greg Foat is one of the UK’s leading jazz pianists, composers and music producers who has worked with a diverse selection of musicians including Moses Boyd, Bob Lind, Curtis Lundy, Rita Ora, Questlove, Lady Blackbird and The Kooks. In recent years he’s recorded for Jazzman Records, Athens of The North and Strut.  Something of a musical maverick, his solo and collaborative albums touch on everything from spiritual jazz, library music and soundtrack sounds, to Balearic beats, jazz-funk, and deep house.

On this release Greg Foat deviates into the world of Detroit deep techno, utilizing his arsenal of obscure 80’s synths.  On hearing the original ‘Psychosynthesis’ from Greg’s album (released on Blue Crystal records), Ross thought it needed a remix to make it the epic techno cut that it so obviously is waiting to be! To do this, Ross brings in Beyonce collaborator Foremost Poets, plus the musical genius that is Crooked Man who gets to grips with it too.  Psychosynthesis Part 1 & 2 just dropped on the 5th August. New Jersey DJ & producer Foremost Poets Remix lands 26th August, then legendary Sheffield producer Crooked Man further shines a light on the track, his Crooked Man Remixes following on in September. It’s all out on Foundation Music.

Back from a hot summer we are presenting you this great new release by Steve Mill who truly captures the sun and warmth in these new jams for us. The Greek born artist who lives between Berlin and Thessaloniki just released his “The Mistake EP” on Tensnake’s own True Romance label where we could already hear his soulful and groovey disco infused sound.

The opener “Love Attack” is a real “good times” tune with catchy vocal snips and a bad ass funky arpeggio bass line topped with spaced out strings and pads, this one reminds us a lot of Krystal Klear material and our own Lorenz Rhode. Saying that, we of course could not think of anyone better than him to take on this tune and drawing the inspiration to create his own super funked up version! As always all parts are played and recorded live in his Cologne studio with the same hot summer vibes on this one as well! You can find the vox version on vinyl and an instrumental as bonus digital track to get your party really started. On repeat!

“Make Me Feel” featuring the Berlin based vocalist Tee Amara has disco flavors all over it and is just an irresistible house tune, majestic and soulful. Followed by the slow and developing “Next to You” that’s steadily building towards a crescendo “heaven” gem, much in the tradition of disco edits from back in the 80’s. It reminded us a lot of our old Ben La Desh records we put out some good 10 years ago. Maybe this one is our personal fave, for sure a tune you could drop on any floor: disco, electro or house.

Get in the groove with Steve and Lorenz and let us surprise you with a truly funky, groovey and above all positive vibes only release to reminiscent the summer time. Enjoy!

Neo Apparatus is a french (based in Haute Savoie) music label launched in May 2013 by Ivan Cattaud aka "& my mother say" and specialized in electronic music.
The project was born with the desire to promote young artists but also more experienced to offer a vision of electronic music more open and without constraint or stereotype.
So far Neo Aparatus records has been collaborated with a variety of artists such as: B&S concept, BNinjas, Trecci, Wearing shoes, … and had the chance to produce very promising young artists like Denyl Brook.
