For APDEXTRA017 we’re thrilled to welcome Hober Mallow to the Apparel Music family with his stunning four track EP called ‘Phased’. Lachlan Holland (his real name) is a DJ, a crate digger, producer and radio host from Sydney (AUS) but -above all- a great human being, that’s why we’re incredibly happy to introduce you to his latest work on our EXTRA catalogue. It is, in fact, a quite difficult task to describe what ‘Phased’ is about, being it a miscellaneous of sounds, stimulus, ideas but, even more, an accurate representation of Lachlan’s super versatile musical talent. The opening track ’I Believe It's Going Round’ is a mosaic of sounds with its tense strings always in the background, its dreamy melody, acid bassline, vocal samples and its solid rhythm section, everything washed down with an excellent Hober Mallow’s wine. The record continues with ‘Junk Twilight’ which is another mesmerising patchwork of styles; a mellow track filled with intricate musical embroidery which talks to the heart of Soul and House lovers but, generally, to everyone who’s desire is to discover something new, to listen to some contemporary and unique music. Getting to ’Pet Peeves’ we’re already short of words…Listening to these introspective, labyrinthine five minutes is a true journey into Hober’s mind. Ok never mind: we feel like it’s useless to try to formulate sentences about this track so we’ll just write down some keywords to give an impression of it: solid grooves, guitar skanks, choirs, silences, sinister atmospheres. Pet Peeves in an impressionistic painting. The closing track is also the title track: ‘Phased’, which is the perfect one to end the record in style, with some soothing and delicate harmonies adorned by some perfect vocal samples, a funky guitar and the usually perfect rhythmic loop. Phased by Hober Mallow is a gem which we’re incredibly proud of and it will be release on the 31st of May 2021.

Antipodes is a French electronic trio based in Paris about to share his new EP Aurea Valles in July 2021. The EP is composed of 6 tracks including the title First Lights.
The band members of Antipodes really believe in the beauty of creating music in the moment. All of their songs from the EP Aurea Valles are recorded live during improvised sessions with minimum overdub.

This is a song about having to put on your "big boy pants", or, in other words, becoming an adult. It's just a "metaphor". It's some of that sweet disco with a beat switch at around 1:54.

Happy Tuesday people! I've put together a special 2 hour mix full of some of my favourite summer tracks of the last few years. A mixed bag of downtempo, broken beat beauty’s, blissed out house and hot disco jams. 

Expect to hear music from the likes of Huerta, Holo, Laurence guy, St Germain, Harry Wolfman, Sven Weisemann, Pepe Bradock, Jimpster, Ron Trent, Retromigration &  Jesse Bru to name a few.
