For their first ever double-LP outing Razor-N-Tape presents POOLS, with a sun-drenched and laid-back collection of tunes called Innertubes. POOLS, the moniker of Los Angeles duo Thee Mike B and DJ Morsecode, craft a sound that conjures up the easy going swagger and soulful grit of the left-most coast. The original versions read like an album, perfect for a lazy Sunday rooftop BBQ with beers, bros and blunts, (although no doubt some of these gems will find their way into DJs' warm-up and boom-bap sets). New York staple, Let’s Play House, seemingly releases a record every week. And every single one, is pretty much fire. How do they do it? Must be something in the water out here in Brooklyn. For their 19th white label release, LPH gears up to drop a couple of disco house smashers. There’s even some acid in there to boot! This is pure summertime fun ladies and gentleman. A taste of rave culture with a touch of disco fervor.

LPH label head Jacques Renault is a seasoned producer that’s been known to strike a spark or two on the dancefloor. His “BK Club Version” of Liwando is exactly that, a fire starter. The original version feels much more disco, and while Jacques retains many of its best elements, he quiets the congas and adds more of a house touch to his remix. In the best of ways, the club version is heavier, giving proper shine to the joyous M1 riff that never seems to end. This tune is a real floor finisher. Try not to feel fuckin’ amazing when you listen to this. I’m writing this at 9:30am and I’m too fired up. I’d karate kick my way through a weak fence right now. Watch out Brooklyn, Jacques let me outta my cage this morning.Let’s Play House white label numero 19 is available now via all trusty online retailers. If you’re in NYC, you’ll definitely find it in local shops. Get out there and grab these guaranteed fire starters.

Each release is produced by anonymous artists, who listeners may have heard of from their public aliases. That said, without an artist name attached, the material shines through without any preconceived notions and the music simply speaks for itself. Pure dancefloor magic.

Délicieuse Records' House imprint Noire & Blanche are beginning to create quite the name for themselves, after coming out with notable releases from some of our favorite artists like Tell, Folamour, and Loure. To keep their momentum going, the French label has decided to close out the year strong with a compilation that features close friends and musicians they've worked with in the past. That sort of list would not necessarily be that impressive for most young labels, but that is definitely not the case here. Their Various Artists Vol. 1 will include tracks from the likes of Roberto S, A Vision of Panorama, Too Smooth Christ, Folamour, Tell, and work from an artist we are featuring in today's post - Leon Revol!

The Frenchman is becoming a sort of Bolting Bits regular if you will, having covered his releases on labels such as Beats of No Nation, Monologues Records, and Secret Reels. Although Mr. Revol likes to spend most of his time blending a mixture of jazz and house, his contribution to the record titled Y is certainly more of the latter. Marked by vibrant waves of synths that ebb and flow in terms of intensity, Leon is able to create a slow-burner of a deep house tune that will leave you feeling hypnotized with its assortment of faint whispers and mesmerizing percussion. If you are a fan of music from other artists such as Felipe Gordon, this will certainly wet your whistle.

When Fouk & Glenn Astro remix a new artist you know what the vibe is: Dirty DIY house with a heavy funk vibe. 
Mangabey is the new kid on the Toy Tonics family and he is a master of this style. He lives in Lyon/ France (and is a good friend of Folamour who remixed his first EP on Toy Tonics some months ago). 
But Mangabey takes the whole new Funk-House sound to another level. While many of his colleagues work with samples, Mangabey studied Jazz piano and collects vintage synths. And so he plays most of the stuff himself and bring in a lot of personality.
His works could remind the vibe of New York Soul House from the 1990ies or the sounds from the West London scene from 20 years ago, but definitely he adds a modern, edgy touch to it.

Mangabey aka Jose Fehner is an interesting personality: Born in the south of France in a family of traveling artists. As a kid he has been living on a boat and in caravans, traveling France and Africa with a wild theater collective directed by his parents who are actors. Later he went to music university and now finally, by age of 22, he lives in Lyon. Lyon is becoming France’ second music town.  The town that has the most vibrant club and producer scene right now. So, yes:  There is a lot to come from there… a lot from Mangabey.

Here we are for the 4th round of @Apparel-Wax and a crazy one indeed for all the lovers of the vinyl masked man, a release that expresses 4 different nuances of House. Few words are needed to describe the debut of the vinyl with A1 track which is a rarely powerful combination of 2.0 Dance Music and 80’s vibes, a proper slap in the face to kick it off! Our unknown DJ then shifts to a more sensual mode with A2, where funky guitar shades and smooth chords blended with the vocals that drag us on a more intimate level of listening to keep on traveling on a lower tone. B side starts with a track guided by weaving Jazzy rhythmics dialoguing hectically with Samba and some jungle environmental recordings, creating a super personal interpretation of Brazilian Jazzy House, while to end up the 4th trip on Wax Planet, B2 blesses us with some more classic vibes with a sharp string’s melody and a rich bassline guided silently by a Rhodes piano and some pungent and melancholic female vocals, to end it up in style. Full project curated by Giuseppe D’Alessandro, mastered by Stefan Eichinger aka LOPAZZ, distributed by Wordandsound, published by Apparel Music.

So...it's album time for Apparel Wax! After sharing an assortment of coded EP's (APLWAX001 so and on and so forth), father figure Giuseppe D'Alessandro thought it time to drop a full-length on us. As always, those who've provided their production prowess remain incognito, so whoever's chipped in, has done a damn fine job. As a whole, the long play is an ode to jazz, with each ghost writer interpreting the genre as they see fit. With Apparel Music set to turn 9 this month, LP001 is a perfect birthday gift.

For us, 'LP001B1' stood out from the crowd. Inspired by UK breakbeat, with a kick drum like a steam train, you'll be doing yourselves a disservice if you skip pass this ditty. In true Apparel style, there's a rush of key and string combos too, that should have jazz-house connoisseurs licking their lips.

You will have noticed as well that D'Alessandro's chosen a cheeky album art. The reason behind it, being to preach protection but of the musical kind. Apparel artists are free to experiment with their creations, finding protection behind the label. Apparel Wax are here to defend quality dance tunes, striving to spread love and unite people through having a good time. We certainly can't argue with that!
