Apparel Music pushes forward this November with a four track single from label-founder Kisk. The Italian producer teams up with some associates of the imprint on a couple of the featured cuts, while Anton Kubikov reworks the title track to shape up the ‘Friends’ EP.

Giuseppe D’Alessandro aka Kisk founded Apparel Music in 2009, a label that’s tipped its focus towards jazz infused electronic explorations, while introducing sprinkles of London’s Jungle sound, Trip-Hop, Detroit Techno and authentic Deep House. Dropping material from heavyweight house heads like Delano Smith and John Tejada, while bringing to light the talent of newcomers like Jacky 0, Sarp Yilmaz and Accatone who collaborates with Kisk on this release. Kisk can also boast performances at some of the industry’s leading nightclubs, namely Fabric, Tresor and Amnesia, standing as further testament to his flair and expertise in this field. 
Title track ‘Friends’ opens the single, seeing Kisk delve deep with a dusty Jazz-tinged deep house workout. Gritty drum samples, a double bass hook and a blend of cosseting Rhodes and murmuring vocal lines lay the foundations, while emotive string melodies add a further beauty to things creating a classy, understated piece to kick things off. Kisk then teams up with Undeep aka Gennaro Mastrantonio for ‘4Friends’ following in the same ilk the duo drive the record with sweeping pads, bumpy raw rhythms and bubbling background atmospherics to again create a slow-blooming elegant record. 
On the latter half of the release Kisk pairs up with Portugese producer Accatone, this time taking the feel in a more upfront and direct direction as weighty sub tones fuel the tracks energy and ethereal pads, subtly processed piano hits and spoken word vocal lines drive the musicality. Then finally to close the EP Moscow based producer, notably known for his work with the likes of Kompakt and Trapez turns in a stunning melodic interpretation of ‘Friends’, skillfully composing dazzling piano hooks alongside heavenly pads, berloque percussion and a hefty amount of sub. Jazzy Caravan is a grand peice of work that is looking to outline the silhouette of Apparel Music Classic's soul. 
The jazz follows us to the sweet memories of unforgettable melodies that are interpreted by artists par excellance for a special event. Every producer represents one scene, unique and unmistakable. Jazz samples (where Oneboy project has groomed well the classical instruments - the trumpet, the piano and the double-bass) were given to every artist. 
Prostitune: is a modest swedish guy that marvels us with simplicity. Seems like going back in time with a next generation's vehicle. It's really a perfect start. George G uses imagination and transmits the motiv with a simple hint in the center of disc, as if the jazz transforms itself in poetry or a drumroll. Ekkohaus gives us an example of class and wonder: Caravan hides behind a research of sounds that fill up the space and wrap arround us until swallowing us.mm. Elon amazes us with an amazing 'divide and assemble, cut and stitch' technique, quoting the swing and flamenco without ever loosing the actual rhythm. Tuccillo brings us to house with an up to date and sophisticated march. Kisk gives us an example of salsa with a good structured instumental version. Ali Kuru brings us back to present tense and rides the housy wave. Really impeccable. The last but not least, Domu, an artist far away from a steady sound, definitely a different school, couldn't be missed out for the jazzy lovers.

Ekkohaus - Jazzy Caravan feat Oneboy [APC001]

Korablove is ready for his debut on APL. Splash forward is not only a track but a new concept. At the beginning everything sounds like a classical Deep, simple and muffled step, some chords. Then something happens, something special. We all know how the structures are rigid, 4/4 that hardly can match with a breaking, the influences of a genre rather than a way of expressing, dressing, living. Splash forward is a new way of seeing things, like if the wall of differences falls down suddently, like if years of clubbing and fight for a new space disappear into thin air. A deep track that trasforms into a thriller. At half of the track the drums get dwindle and multiply, the bpm starts transforming and all around the panorama changes colour. The 4/4 bits becomes breaking, the sounds assume a form and a different content. The atmosphere remains that one, incredibly and paradoxically unique, recognizable. Once again the sax gives us that warm taste that only jungle can put so well in evidence.

Everything flows like if nothing happened, and again deep, 4/4. A dream that comes back to be reality, a perfect trip, a tape that rolls up. Useless to say is the reaction of Ekkohaus, stimulated by the original track he gives us two versions, one Deep and one Jugle. Deljanto closes the opera entering the dance floor, far from the urban's echos, closer to our feeling of dance and freedom.

SCSI-9 - Summariata (Pablo Bolivar Remix) [APL004]

Kisk has turned back to work, with the Oneboy project, including, in this release, the bass by Max Lagana, the sax by Mauro Capitale and keyboards by Gendrikson Mena. This group seems to have entered a time machine to go back in time in an happy period when funk and improvisation made the tracks light and magical. It's been quite esay for Lopazz and friends to work on such samples. The remix section provides a very close to the original review by Casio Casino, who transforms the beat in something more up to date, still maintaining the Oneboy sound. Lopazz & Zarook are more into a dub version, where the easiness becomes luxury on the dancefloor. Finally Lula Circus, unpredictable duo, gives rise to the most demanding and wild dances with some samples loop and manipulating filters and cursors properly. Not to miss.

A turbine which slowly drag us into the abyss, evoking the peace of mind with an articulated guitar that flies on the perfect mechanism of drums and bass, surrounded by chords and pads that fly around and meets in magic that only Yapacc can give.

We don’t need to describe the evolution of Sarp in the last year. Superfluos . Through several quality issues there has been a lot of talk about him and his talent. After an excellent research work and many contaminations it's time for the turkish artist for his album. Certainly an important step for many producers to show their most hidden and private special parts. This time https://soundcloud.com/sarpyilmaz surprises us as never before doing his own way. Collecting notes and older vocals he creates a fresh world living this days. A sequence of exiting beats. Sarp Yilmaz - Discover Me

Tastemaking modern labels Apparel Music and The Dub have hooked up to put out one release on two labels on the same day, with both having different covers but featuring the same two hot tracks.

Apparel Music owner Kisk is behind one cut here and is an accomplished Italian who has multi-cultural roots that really show in his music. He has DJed everywhere from fabric to Tresor and has collaborated with a wide range of artists on his label. His ‘Blissanova’ track* is as the name suggests - perfectly summery and breezy with rich melodies, tooting instruments and loose, louche drums. Full of top trumpet vibes, flowery motifs and humid chords, it’s a perfect outdoors house track to get people moving. 
Then comes fellow Italian Claudio Coccoluto who boasts a collection of more than 70,000 records, is a widely published music writer, skilled DJ who plays all over the world and has created soundtracks for some of the world’s biggest brands. His contribution here is the delightful ‘Unbelievable.’ It’s a real jumble of percussive sounds, vocal ad libs and piano keys all driven by a house kick and noodly saxophone patterns. As lush as you like and stuffed with effusive musical vibes and emotions, it’s a sure fire winner. 
The cover image for this great release is by Massimo Mariotti, and the EP has been mastered by Stefan Eichinger aka LOPAZZ, and the music is beautifully original.

This is a super tidy two track package that is perfectly mastered and offers some truly standout music from two modern Italian greats.

Starting with a half bar bass hook that sounds a little like Solomun's 'Country Song', 'Blissanova' is a funk laden groove, even moreso when an off kilter sax comes into the picture. The track then takes an unexpected turn as a unrelenting synthwall that reminds us of a Los Hermanos UR track hits us for a full four minutes. The bassline drops back in and before you know it you've gone from lighthearted disco to techno in the space of five minutes. 9/10

"Just because you call your song "Lost in Detroit" doesn't mean you're necessarily from Detroit. That's the case here, though, and I'll admit I wouldn't have guessed without looking it up. That track, first up on this excellent EP, is Delano Smith's, and it's got enough of a basic fuzzy quality—that filmy kind of filtering that gives things a shade of static, a purposeful analog feel—that it could have come from just about anywhere that sort of thing is in vogue, which is probably just about anywhere house reigns supreme. But that alien zone is increasingly crowded, and Smith's touches of stick percussion kick it up a couple places. Smith's reworking of Gavin Herlihy's "Krypton Faktor" is similarly cool, but here the beat carries a lot more tonnage. The drums are fiercely articulated and a big synth riff joins two minutes in just to amp things up for real. Herlihy's original "Krypton Faktor" is different again: lengthy, ruminative, spooky in texture without being a forbidding listen. The smoky cloudy organ effect that provides the hook draws you to it." (Resident Advisor)


Plain and Simple TV

What does it sound like? 
A little slice of quality, deep but not dull tech courtesy of US producer Delano Smith and Briton Gavin Herlihy. The EP is dominated by its title track thanks to an additional remix, but does come with a well worth buying B-side. Starting with the A though things are comparable to Siesta's hey day and the tougher, more electro edges of the old West Coast sound, meaning driving but groovy basslines and inviting percussion abounds, while there's also an obvious techno zeitgeist in the brew too. Smith's own remix reduces the stabbed tempo and opts for a cosmic disco workout that's no less reliant on the low end than its predecessor was. Then there's Lost In Detroit, which falls somewhere in between the mechanical soul of said city's newcomers and Stacey Pullen's smooth techy stylings, capped off with a guy saying something hypnotic. Just don't ask us what it's got to do with the 1980s TV series.

Where would I dance to it? 
Anywhere and everywhere, particularly after Villalobos apparently dropped both original and remix when Herlihy passed him a copy at a gig in Leeds.

What highlights can I expect to hear? 
For us Lost In Detroit is the winner, as is anything that boasts such rhythm. Dark, dirty, and with all the hallmarks of classic tech house this is one all sides of the four four camp can get down to.

Why should I pay for it? 
As ever it's a question of morality.

Jazzy Tourism is the first work that establish Apparel Music in the electronic music market. Apparel seeks to combine differents hemispheres, trying to impress on vinyl every mood and emotion. Every song is built for narrow audience, mental, impatient, just like jazz, get something of magical on the dance floor. The original mixes offers a simple way to structure and pushing the batteries, deep bass, funny reasons to open the way for jazzy. Kisk is a good media between sound and audience; working properly jazz samples , as if this was made for his own style. Lopazz & Zarook’s remixes are placed on a road whose direction is the catharsis. One more reason to discover huge basses that fill up the stomach slowly, till to corrode any space, We can define it ‘psyco deep’. SCSI-9 surprise us with special effects, supporting theyr grooves, with the exception of a saxophonist (Prof. Morriarti) and an unforgettable motive wich of course weíll sing under the shower. The vinyl close with Yapacc’s version wich bring us into the funky minimal’s world, towards dark moments weíll arrive in the room of lights. Clubby!
