For the February 2024 edition of Romance Relic's Windbreak show, they invite a Portuguese musician Canadian Rifles (Rui P. Andrade). Known for his musical and curatorial output via the Eastern Nurseries label and musical releases floating between ambient and noise, most recent being a collaborative album with Lisbon-based artist Aires (Bruno Perreira). Canadian Rifles presents a mix reflective of his recent contemporary sonic inspirations.

The Sleeping Cave w/ Sonia Surma - 11/04/2024

"The title goes back to a line from the poem Kızçocuğu ("The Girl of Hiroshima") by the Turkish poet Nâzım Hikmet, which was written for Sadako Sasaki, one of the victims of the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and can be translated as "the child who burns/burned like paper"."

ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ᴀʀᴛɪꜱᴛ

Afrodeo is an Istanbul-born producer, rapper and radio personality based in Vienna. Influenced by Eisenstein’s montage theory, his sampladelic work generates poetic evocations of memory and fantasy through the combination of sounds from a vast sonic palette ranging between tape loops, field recordings, TV/film samples and ethereal singing. Besides releasing music, Afrodeo has been hosting a thematic radio show called Sovyet Montajı since 2016.

Spurred on by the acuteness of current global events, we are raising our voices in solidarity with the oppressed, the tortured, the silenced, and the unheard. The events that shake Palestine and Israel are resulting in an ever-tighter spiral of violence and desperation. They are a horrific wake-up call that brutally brings the precarious situation on our planet to the fore. The humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, and Israel’s collective punishment of Palestinian civilians are intolerable. On top of that, the military actions threaten the lives of the remaining hostages in the Gaza-Strip, and even more innocent people in Gaza.
