If you've followed me from my My Space days, you MIGHT remember this one (lol). This actually may have been the first time I used the term "Jazzy Tofu" on a track I did, so I'm guessing this was done around the mid-2000s (as I didn't come up with the term until 2004 lol). I always liked this song from his "The Bootleg, vol. 1" CD and I was looking for ways to play it in my sets. So, I decided to put a nice li'l downtempo shuffle on it and VOILA! I was able to let Frank hear it once and he liked it enough for me to remix another track of his called "Groovin'". Hopefully we'll be working together again for the "More Favorites" project as well. Keep your fingers crossed...

I was listening to his Google acoustic performance and the way he and Ian McCauley's guitar flowed together was just incredible. As SOON as I got home from work, I decided to see if I (as Shecky's Jazzy Tofu)could play along with it. I guess I did ok…lol

Couldn't Hear Me Over The Vamp (interlude)

I was going thru some of the music I had gotten from people at #PLAYlistRetreat16 and ran across a track I didn't remember. Shecky's Jazzy Tofu- Reminiscin' (after hours)

This is a remix I've been sitting on for quite a while. Me and the homie Ahmed were sittin around rappin one day and I told him i wanted to remix one of the tunes from his "After 2am Sessions" EP, and he was like "Cool, I'd be interested to see what you come up with." Upon listening to "Warm Rain", I knew this tune had the potential to be a really sexy House tune. So I put four-on-the-floor, added a little bass and synth at the end, sent it to him and he dug it. So, in honor of the release of the FULL-LENGTH "After 2am Sessions" LP, we're putting it out there for everyone to enjoy.

Ahmed Sirour- Warm Rain (The Applejac Redux Suite)

From the moment I heard this young lady's voice on the "Elle" album, I knew she was something special. So much so that I tracked her management down on Twitter to see if she'd be interested in possibly working together. I found out from her manager Mildred (Hej, Millie!) that they were actually working on a concert DVD at the time and they were looking to put some remixes on the accompanying CD as bonus tracks. Without hesitation, I jumped at the chance. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to finish it in time to make it to the retail release, but she has graciously allowed me to share it with you guys. So, here it is. Something sexy for the dancers out there. "In Your Hands"...THE REMIX!!!

I was inspired to do this song from listening to my homie Ahmed Sirour play it a year or so ago. I actually had the track done last year but wanted to put vocals to it. Enter the talented Jessica Newry, who many of you may remember from my Playin Favorites EP in 2011 on the bonus track "What A Mess", who came thru and did the honors. So without further ado. Other remix projects have found him crossing paths with Carlitta Durand (Foreign Exchange, Little Brother) for the "Doug & Patty, Season Two: In Sheckyvison" EP, as well as a remix EP for D.C. songstress Green Tea ("The Crazy Eights"). In 2011, he released his own pet project, "Playin' Favorites", where he skillfully recrafted soulful covers of some of his favorite artists in his own inimitable way. Recently honored as one of ATL’s Ministers Of Sound, he is also a resident of the legendary Godfather party (a James Brown tribute DJ series).
