A new Touhou remix! This time of two old and in my opinion underrated themes from the PC-98 era. I also found the stage theme particularly nostalgic. The piano part, especially, reminded me of some Western fairytale in some magical world. I think it really fits the character (Alice). Maybe it is just association bias, but I think ZUN really does a great job creating music that fits the characters, not just in this single case. 

This time I tried for the first time to make synthwave, or something in that direction haha. The end result turned out to be sounding more modern than the typical 80s synthwave style, and it also includes some other random elements. Because of this I don't think the VHS visual effect fully fits the audio, but I still decided to include it a little bit because it was fun learning how to make this effect from scratch in ZGameEditor, and I think it looks cool. 

The way how I structured the remix is partly based on how the extra stage and boss fight occurs in Mystic Square. So, it starts with the extra stage theme as the player goes through a dark and mysterious area. Then, she encounters Alice in a strange wonderland and the fight starts with the boss theme. In between the main structure are also some 'introspective' or 'nostalgic' sections. I sometimes like to put some story or progression elements in my music, but it is of course always open for your own interpretation :). It also isn't a very calm remix I think, because I kept in mind the bullet hell action aspect of the game and wanted to give it a bit of an 'epic battle' feeling to it.
