This mini-concept album is based on a cyborg visiting from 2050 to warn the human race of impending doom.
Each track follows an apocalyptic narrative and explores the psychedelic genres.
This was part of my final major project for uni. FT Tabz, artwork by Jack Field, mastering by Simon Duggal.

6. The Other World

1. Cyber Soldier

This song represents the evolution of human expression from poetry, singing, analogue music creation, computer assisted music, through to the explosion of ideas being generated by AI. "we are all creators in some way"... The AI experiment backfires, leading to an infinite variations on the same theme breaking the very AI that bought it about, allowing humans to return to a slower pace artistic endeavour.... "or so it seems".

started on day 1 of the psytrance producers lab in Cambridge, April 2024, trying to take in teachings by e-clip and inner state, whilst running ableton remotely via Splashtop from my PC at home!

production notes:

v28
- picked the track up after a few weeks working on froggy wobble, starting to add more sections at the end
- thicken out both the kick and the bass. The kick was missing some mid-high to high frequency range fullness. It stands out better in the full mix now. The bass was missing low-mid, again, it was very hard to hear when the full song was going. 

v27 
- A couple of elements were just not sitting right in the mix.. some closed hats, a couple of pads, and an acid riff in the intro.. all deleted. Track starting to gel together properly now. 

v26
- I don't even know what I'm doing any more... poetry, pianos, orchestral buildups? 

v25 
- extended the intro with the first stanza from the poem "ode", by Arthur O'Shaughnessy. And further mastered and tweaked a few more elements.

v24
- Just some minor tweaks whilst moving the project over to Live 12. I've also bought a couple of plugins to help tame the harshness and improve loudness. Bloom from oeksound, Masterplan. There's probably some compression artefacts happening in parts that need tweaking. 
- sorted out some of the bass transients being louder than the kick, or summing with the tail of the kick to be louder than the transient of the kick, and clipping on the percussion bus to help tame that too. 
- I'm not sure the mixing/mastering as you go is great for productivity. There's been no musical / arrangement advances on this track in many many versions! :(

v23
 - ran it through a simple mastering set to to remove some harshness, and improve loudness.
 - removed unnecessary reverbs and delays from tracks. Helped clean up the sound
 - tweaked some of the elements, adding more bounce to the bass sidechain, and added ozone to the master plugin.
- removed some one shots that were just bloat
