EasyBeats 3: a Killer Drum Machine ... I really love it even though I'm missing one or 2 features. The most important is the Virtual MIDI (even if it comes with the Wist, which is really great, but unfortunately, not “Universal” ). Such a shame! The second one is the that I can set my time signature, even if the Swing mode is just Great! (watch the Demo Video) ... A little bit annoying... Despite these "little big details", Easy Beats has a lot of things going for it. Yes, it is so easy to use. You can create a song in 2 minutes... The new integrated Cloud is really great too... Easy Beats 3 allows you to import your own samples via iTunes File Sharing... You will be able to save your Patterns with their Samples on the Cloud (you will have to register first: so Fast! Thx!.)  and also share them with the community (or not...) ... It means that your Kit library could be a Huge Library very quickly! As I said at the beginning of this Post, I love it... Because of its lack of MIDI Feature, I can recommend it as a your "first" Drum Machine... (I’m tapping to the Professional iOS Musicians) but in your Setup... Sure! A Killer App!

EasyBeats 3 Pro Drum Machine - Beat or Program Drums

Studio 1111 is a Drum Machine and a Bass Liner App as well. The Drum Machine comes with 14 Drum kits. 5 of them are from the Roland series: 505, 606, 707, 809 and 909. Note that you will also find a Hang in this Library... Strange but cool. 8 instrument tracks are available and a mixer allows you to set the volume for each of these tracks. (No accent in the Editor...) For the Synth part, 8 parameters allow you to shape the sound (shape, Fat, Cut, Res, Tune, Glide, Env, Decay). The step editor is very well thought out, and as for the Drum Editor, you will be able to copy and paste a Pattern. 8 patterns can be stored. There is also an FX section, which comes with 4 Effects that you can assign to the X Y axes of a big Pad. 2 can be used simultaneously. My preferred one is the Vowel. What else? You can record your performances and share them via iTunes File Sharing (only). You can use it in the input slot of the AudioBus. Studio 1111 can receive MIDI Control Change. A Super App!

Studio 1111 - 303 + 808

RD4 is a little workstation. 4 Tracks. It comes with 1 Synthesizer, called Analog: 3 oscillators, 1 AASR and 1 Filter section. The Analog has it's own grid editor. Very minimal: you can only set the keys and the length of the notes. A Baseline (r): 4 waveforms to chose from, a  filter section and its step by step editor. The Bassline is certainly the module that I like the least in this App...  To finish, 1 Drum Machine. Its only "shaping" parameter available for an instrument is a Punch button.
As I said, RD4 is a 4 track workstation. The thing really cool is that you can use any of this instrument in any track...
You can use it with 4 Drum Machine, or 3 Bassline and 1 analog...
As you like!
You also have a Mixer, 4 Effects (Distortion, Phaser, Delay and Reverb). one Send for each track but 4 send 4 each Drum instruments.
A Pattern Mode also allows you to play a pattern for each track (8 patterns can be saved for each instrument) from 1 to 2, to 3, and so on. 2 random modes are also available.

To conclude, the App is very well done but...
The Analog Synthesizer is really cool. It is the module I prefer in this App. You have enough parameters to shape your sound as you like. 
The Bassline, as I said, is the one I love the least... Not fat enough, for me...
The 2 Drum Machines are cool, but it would be nice to be able to create a custom kit...
The live record mode is really cool, but more sharing features. At this moment, we only have: iTunes File Sharing,SoundCloud and Dropbox. Ok, it's cool, but I really need to have the AudioCopy / Paste at very least.
Hard to rate it, ...
Because RD4 is very well done, very simple to understand, but I want more! :-) 
At the same time, it is only version 1 of this App...
I'm sure that it has the potential to be a Killer App...

When I read the App Store description, I said to myself "oh it's like a Bandmate". You can play alone, or with one two or 3 friends.  Just after this thought, a new one is coming.  F..., I still haven't done the Bandmate review. Next week... After having downloaded this App, I realised that the comparison between these two Apps stops there...
But before I go on, I want to conclude this Review (strange quote...).
Cotracks is an incredible, powerful App which you can use alone or with friends... I fell in love with it!

Ok, now let's start this review! 
4 Modules (one for each player, or all for me!.
3 slots are available for each of these modules.
3 slots to add an instrument. A Drum Machine (4 Pads, 107 samples!), a monophonic and a polyphonic synthesiser. For each of these instruments, (including the Drum Machine), the possibilities on offer to shape your sound are awesome! Envelope (ADSR), Amp, HPF, LPF, Pitch, Eq, Delay, Phaser...
2 X / Y Pads: 1 Repeater and 1 for the Modulation.
I really fond of the sounds you can generate with this machine...
You can also switch to a Ribbon keyboard.
How does it work?
Set the Scale, the Key, the Pattern length, then record your Pattern (Drag a Pattern to another module to copy it). Then build your song with your 96 Patterns: 4 Modules, 3 instruments per Module and 8 Patterns per Module. Watch the Video Demo... A Killer App! I forgot one thing... (getting carried away!)... The sharing features... Only iTunes File Sharing... Too bad, but I don't mind... Nobody's perfect...

As I said for the other SessionBand Apps: It should be the new "Standard" for our Loop Library. One Killer App! 
Note that for this one, SessionBand - Acoustic Guitar Edition, the Midi Sync feature could be awesome too... I forgot one thing... Listen to the Audio Demo... The sound quality... Great!!! At the end of this Demo, I sent SessionBand in AmpKit by using the Audiobus feature... in French we use to say: "Ca fait la blague!"

Have you come across  this Drum Machine? I hadn't until yesterday,... And it is a major blunder because this Drum Machine is simply great! 

8 tracks for 8 drum instruments or... 
Yes, or... Because you will be able to shape your sound like if you were working on a synthesizer: 2 oscillators, 1 Filter, 1 distortion and a chorus. You can also choose your waveform, and work (Draw) on the envelope. At the end, when once you're happy with your sound, you wiil be able to copy it and / or save it to the (big) sound library. If you didn't manage to create a sound that you like, you have even even use the random mode. This mode allows you to randomize the sound of each track at the sale together or separately. You can also decide the level of variation, if it will affected by all the parameters or only some of them... If you hear something that you like, take a snapshot of the current settings. A Pad mode is also available. The X axe will determine the level of your drum. A live record mode is also available. To conclude, I really love it, and am keeping it. My only wish would be to have Virtual Midi in a future update. A Killer + Drum Machine!

GrainProc is a little granular synthesiser. The App is really simple but..., I really love its UI which make it so easy to use.  The Audiobus feature (effect slot) which make it really interesting to use with another App. (Watch the Video Demo). I also really love its price: 0€ without ad! So, there is absolutely no reason for anyone to let it on the App Store Cloud. A  mini Killer mini granular mini synth or mini effect for Free! A  BIG thanks to the developer!

Combine the 2 HyperOscillators, the SubOscillator and the SuperSaw, Super Square and Super Triangle to create fat sounds like I love, in a vintage style.
Use the Dual Filters, and re order the routing of the 6 included Effects (Reverb, Eq, Distortion, Delay, Chorus and Phaser) to put the finishing touch and use the Vocoder to give a unique edge to it!
Use the Arpeggiator with the 4 track Sequencer (notes, volume, filters... 30 parameters to choose from...)  to create a unique sequence. Or use the Sequencer to play an impossible sequence with only one finger!
But don't worry, if you can't manage to create the sounds you like, go and find a lot of great Presets in the built in Library,  created by John Lehmkuh who used to work for Korg as a professional sound designer from 1988 - making patches, combinations, drum kits as well as creating the sample data for almost every synth Korg has released since the M1. And if you don't find your salvation here, go straight on to the Sunsine Audio Preset Library! For the other features: Audiobus, Sonoma AudioCopy, AudioShare, Open in, Core midi, Virtual Midi, Wist! 
Ok! Did I forget something...?
Yes, I love it! I'm totally convinced by the sound types that you can generate with it!

Looptical is a Workstation like no other.
Sorry, I'll start again...
Looptical is a great, unique and very powerful Workstation like no other! (I think that it sounds better like this...)
Great because I love it!
Unique because it works with Loops instead of patterns.
And powerful because I think that at this moment all the images contained on this review are still not loaded in your browser...
So, before I write my first book "All the features in Looptical", I want to explain a little bit how it works...
First, you will have to create a Project. Then a Track. It can be an Audio Track, a Keyboard track or a Pad track. Each of these tracks excepted the Audio Track comes with different interfaces. Choose the most appropriate interface for the instrument that you want to play.
A Project as well as a Loop could contains 24 tracks. You will be able to set this, before or after you record your Loop length.
You will be also able to merge 2 different loops together.
So, create as many loops as you like or need. Feel free to record all the ideas that come to you mind... You don't have to think about your song structure, at this moment. Just record your ideas, use the Mixer to add effects and /or record automation...
In the Event menu you will be able to erase events like notes and automation. To transpose a loop and more.
At the end only, go to the Loop menu to create your song. Set the number of repetitions for a specific loop, re order them,... And return to the Mixer to give the final touch to your mix.
OK this is basically how it works.
So, now let's have an overview of the available features...
For the tracks: 24 max. The instruments: Looptical comes with a big sound library. The sound quality of all the instruments is really very good. But if you prefer to import your own sample into the App, no problem with the AudioCopy / Paste feature. For the keyboard instruments, you will be able to choose between 6 interfaces. A single keyboard, a dual keyboard, a Scale keyboard which allows you to create your custom one, a Granular interface, yes! A fretboard interface which allows you to create or to choose your chords from the built in library. So, to sum up: 5 interfaces to choose from!
For the Drum interfaces, you can choose to use a Drum Pad or a Roll Pad. Note that nothing's stopping you from doing this while you create your loop... For the Audio Track you can record a signal by using the built in microphone on your iDevice, or the Audiobus and the Inter App feature. If you are not really happy with a sample that you have recorded, imported or taken from the built in library, once again, no problem. Go to the editor, set the start and end point, trim your sample, create a loop or reverse it. If it is still not ok for you, use the ADSR setting menu which comes with all the Keyboard instruments. The maximum polyphony for an instrument is 40 voices and the number of loops for a Project is 100!
For the mixer, 24 tracks. 5 inserts per track. 10 effects to choose from and 1 send. For the Master track: 1 compressor, a limiter and a Reverb.
You can record Automation for all the parameters of a track or from an effect!
At the end you will be able to share your final mix via iTunes File sharing, AudioCopy or mail.
Looptical also comes with the Virtual Midi and Wist features. The Virtual MIDI will allow you to control an effects parameter for example with an other App which will send CC to Looptical.

Bebot is a feature packed polyphonic synthesiser that was the very first music app to fully utilise the full touch screen to control the sound. It has a single oscillator with 4 waveform choices and a sub oscillator with another 4 waveform options, including both one and two octave options below the main oscillator. It also offers distortion, chorus and echo effects, as well as y axis expression within the settable timbre/resonant range, and great sounding filters. There are 25 presets to get started with, but you can also save your own creations. It comes with scale presets and the option to create your own custom scales so you can simply slide your finger across the screen without playing the wrong notes. Another great feature is the ability to Autotune each note to varying degrees or choose not to use Autotune to get that great fretless sound. Bebot also is AudioBus compatible for use in the input slot, so you can directly record your performances into other compatible apps. The video below runs through most of the preset sounds and then continues on to explore all of the other options available, and the audio track shows a few examples of the expressiveness of the app using a few preset sounds.  Bebot is a very impressive synth with great expressive control, and with AudioBus compatibility it is definitely a must-have synth, which makes it ... A Killer App!

Bebot - Robot Synth

A Drone. When we talk about a Drone music App, we think about an App where the only thing we have to do, once the sound has been set, is to Tap the play button... Drone allows you to work in another way... First, you have 5 instrument modules (Drone comes with a very well stocked sound library). You will be able to set the Volume, Pan, Density and Duration, as well as the Attack, Sustain and Release for each instrument. At the top of the screen, there is a timeline and 6 "Chord" buttons. You can set the chords by tapping these buttons as well as the number of repeats. Let me explain... Drone Fx will play a 24 bar pattern if the number of repeats for each chord is set to 1. It will play a 96 bar pattern if the number of repeats is set to 4 for each chord (24 x 4). A little arrow on the left allows you to select the next chord that will be played, Another button (on the right hand side) will randomize the chords. Ok, up to here, we can say that drone Fx is a "normal" Drone App. But there is another little keyboard shaped button, at the bottom of the screen, on each module... Tap it and a keyboard appears... Tap them on each module, and play on all 5 keyboards! Great! Awesome! I really love Drone Fx. A great idea, a very well done App, a beautiful UI, and the generated atmosphere is wonderful (you can easily create an ambiance close to the  Space Wiz synth...). I really love Drone Fx. Despite all this, I would really love to have more features like the following: Multitasking, the possibility to record and share my performances or even better the implementation of Audiobus. Virtual Midi or even a 5 track Midi sequencer. A built in metronome or even a little Drum Machine module... Ok... I'll stop there!... I really love Drone Fx, I rate it as a Killer App because I'm fond of the Drone's App, I love its "Unique" side... Listen to the Audio demo and watch the Video and make up your own mind... :-)

A super sound for this Tulum. A super App also. But before to continue and also because of your strange face, I will let you read the Wikipedia definition:
Tulum (bagpipe)... The tulum is a musical instrument, a form of bagpipe from Turkey. It is droneless with two parallel chanters, and is usually played by the Laz and Hamsheni peoples and by Pontic Greeks (particularly Chaldians). It is a prominent instrument in the music of Pazar, Hemşin, Çamlıhemşin, Ardeşen, Fındıklı, Arhavi, Hopa, some other districts of Artvin and in the villages of the Tatos range (the watershed between the provinces of Rize and Trabzon) of İspir. It is the characteristic instrument of the transhumant population of the north-eastern provinces of Anatolia and, like the kemençe in its area, the tulum imposes its style on all the dance and entertainment music of those for whom it is "our music".
So, as I said at the beginning of this post, the sound is really good, the App very well done. You can play like on a real Tulum with 2 chanters but, if you prefer, you can play with only one. Also, a cool feature allows you to play notes like on a piano keyboard, with only one finger. You can also record your performance. The notes you played will be highlight in playback mode. The last recording will be store until the next one. No sharing features are available. In this mode, you can also learn 3 Turkish songs. (A left hand mode is also available). A Killer App and unique in the App Store!

Tulum II

Tingalin - (Çiftelija) Albanian Music Instrument. The Çiftelija is an albanian 2 strings instrument. Usually the lower string is played as a drone, with the melody played on the higher string. You can check out the Wikipedia definition at the end of this Post... Now, let's talk about Tingalin, the App... On the left hand side of the screen there is the fretboard and as for most of all the string instrument App, tap on it to play a note. But like no other App, each time you play a note, it will be added to the Tab.  You will be able to delete the last note played, and add a rest after a note by a swipe from it to the right. You will be able to save your created melodies and share them with other Tingalin users.  A menu allows you to select the instrument sound: Full, Full with Pick & Crisp. You can also decide to play only one string in this menu. By shaking your iDevice, you can simulate the strumming. The sound quality is good, but the sample length is too short. To conclude: this App is very well done, unique in the App Store and it comes with a really good idea. A Super App.


Tingalin - (Çiftelija) Albanian Music Instrument

I still have my iPad, I'm a lucky man... When I launched the App for the first time, I was hitting my iPad so hard (to be able to hear a sound) that I  broke its screen... No, I'm kidding... No, it has only turned the tip of my finger red. So, I decided to load Sanshin on my iPhone,... Same, but now a second red fingertip, as I'm not totally stupid... I changed my finger to make this second test... And at one moment, God remembered me and whispered in my ear... Check out the 2 arrows at the bottom of the screen, my Son... You have to use 2 fingers. You can slide your finger on the fretboard (It works, the sound is good...). You can also learn a Song and change some parameters in the setting menu: Reverb / Pitch / set the keyboard to chromatic or diatonic... (Ok, Dad, kiss mummy for me...)

Brazilian Beats -The brazilian drum box is a rhythm accompaniment app that offers all the richness of Brazilian rhythms and the timbre of their instruments. There is a large selection of rhythms and instruments included. All the rhythms are presented in song format, which does cover a great range, but you do need the accompanying desktop software to edit any of the songs or create new ones. The desktop software is only available for PC, with the Mac version coming soon. Each instrument in the songs can be individually panned and volume controlled. There are 2 rhythm pads included, which can be assigned to any of the included instruments, and they are velocity controllable by the position you play each pad. Unfortunately there is no recording or AudioBus option, so it can only be used as a backing rhythm for live playing, but I'm hoping these features will arrive in the future. The sound of the instruments is very good and the rhythms are incredible, but it is a bit pricey without recording ability or in-app editing. So it is a killer app in many ways, but with the missing necessary features I will rate it ... A Super App!
