This track was recorded during lockdown with my mum recording voicenotes, it's recorded in Twi, and speaks of the importance of drums in African culture, especially with the arrival of dignitaries and kings. It speaks of my heritage as my father is of a royal household in Ghana, she refers to me using my Asante name, Kofi, the first line translates as "Kofi, you are of a royal household."

Laguna is an upbeat alt-pop track about catching a flight to your favourite holiday destination with a significant other. The track was produced by Sugarhouse (Corella, Pale Waves, The K’s) and will be released on the 1st of March 2024.

The inspiration emerged from the raw emotions that surge within us during life’s tumultuous moments. Our feelings can take us on exhilarating highs and heart-wrenching lows. The lyrics capture the essence of holding on when faced with twists and turns. Imagery of sunshine and rain symbolizes growth, resilience, and the enduring power of love. Ultimately, it’s a celebration of the wild ride that is human connection and how, until our last breath we hold on to love.

I wrote this track with max ovenden late last year. 
It’s all about self love, not being so critical of yourself. 
Stop being your own worst enemy,
I chose to put this song out on my 20th birthday 
As I’m entering a new phase in my life and letting go of any pain from my teenage years 
I really trust I’m on my right path and being guided 
I see this song as me going from a caterpillar to a butterfly 🦋 
But most importantly another sign to focus and look after you, stop worrying about everything else! 
marks a year since my debut single 'manifester' it's been an amazing first year of releasing.

Unaccustomed As I Am

Ramblin’ along with the help of ukulele and simple percussion, the optimistic, summertime vibe of ‘Happy Place’ summons a longing for simplicity and the comforting familiarity of a favourite holiday spot or childhood memory. Influenced by the light, bouncy sounds of artists such as Ed Sheeran or George Ezra, this song captures the contentment of standing still for a moment in this mad world and the beauty of simple pleasures.

Liverpool based duo APRIL MOON met Brighton born Kirzy on the Canary Island while playing music at local bars several years ago and knew that their music styles would be an interesting combination although this is the first time they’ve attempted songwriting together.

Combining catchy boot-stompin tunes with a lively and fun onstage energy, Jaime April and Jason Moon make up the Liverpool-based duo APRIL MOON. Hailing from the vast prairies of Saskatchewan, Canada, the pair fell in love first with each other and then with the UK while on tour with a previous band, and when the group fell apart they decided to explore the UK’s vibrant music scene on a more permanent basis. 

Described by 'New Sound Generation' as "the most sunshine-filled performance I think I’ve ever seen!", APRIL MOON's live show is a vibrant twangfest with Fleetwood Mac style harmonies, a jangly acoustic guitar, a blistering Telecaster, and a driving beat provided by Jaime's foot stomping on a kick drum pedal.   The pair recently released the single ‘Part Of The Game’ which was played during a Liverpool match at Anfield Stadium and follows up their full-length album ‘The Other One Was You’. Jaime and Jason are already back in the studio with plans to release a series of singles over the next 18 months with the support of Help Musicians.

APRIL MOON call their genre Canadiana - think Americana, but with a big helping of northern charm that oozes through their style of storytelling and lyrics, creating a vivid world that covers everything from love, scandal and divorce to the hardships of growing up on the prairies, living in an abandoned brewery and cow autopsies.
