Since the anime weekend's already come to an unexpected conclusion, what better time to celebrate than with a familiar opening theme (namely that of 'Nichijou')?!

And do I even need to mention that this is my FIRST EVER ANIME SONG that I've officially covered, NES-style?

As part of yet another in the series of my post-hiatus comebacks, I'm dedicating this number to all SHINOBI fans everywhere - this was heard during the boss fight for Stage 3, in which Musashi takes on an enormous, deformed bio-monstrosity known as 'Hydra', whose only means of offense include not only its arm, but also portions of his skin and an impenetrable beam of light!  Every time you inflicted damage, he would change color dramatically and bury/arise every once in a while...enjoy, folks!!

Shinobi 3 - Return of the Ninja Master / Super Shinobi 2, "My Dear D - Boss #3, Hydra" (8-Bit Cover)

This was remixed from a random midi found on the net using Synthfont. Awesome game and pretty well done for an early Genesis title; originally an arcade game by the way.  Sega did a great job porting it to their at the time, new Genesis console. But the game didn't give up its trademark difficulty the franchise is known for, that made some kids as well as adults break their controllers. Credit goes to Tamayo Kawamoto for making the original song. Song is from Ghouls n Ghosts on the Sega Genesis

By now, this title needs absolutely no introduction - this particular hit (also the name of the 2nd album from the Armenian-American heavy-metal quartet) revolved around the commentary on the music industry, religion, corruption, drugs and other screwed-up fads poisoning all humanity or the Hollywood/LA lifestyle - as depicted in its music video.  The actual album itself was released a week before the INFAMOUS 9/11 attacks, following which lead vocalist Tankian put out an essay about its fallout from a wide plethora of angles. Hailing from their 16th and 18th studio album (in the UK and US, respectively) from roughly 4 decades ago - this was originally recorded in the late '70s as an abandoned reggae rock track for Some Girls - one of the Stones' previous albums around that time, "Never Stop".

It was then abandoned and reworked, however, under the tutelage of engineer Chris Kimsey at both Electric Lady & the ill-fated Hit Factory in NY, and was later used in various commercials - most notably Microsoft Windows 95 (also, who could forget that Bob Rivers parody?!) / Omega watches.

Although I'm not big on sports whatsoever - the iconic song on which this cover is based is commonly used for the New England Patriots' entrance theme...but I digress!  Hailing from his post-Black-Sabbath debut solo album 'Blizzard of Ozz' - Osbourne's song revolves around the fear of annihilation and anarchy during the Cold War, and is one of his best known and recognizable as a solo performer.  

Not only was the song rated 9th greatest guitar solo ever by readers of Guitar World magazine, it was also ranked 9th by VH1 on their 40 Greatest Metal Songs list and was named the 23rd-greatest hard rock song of all time also by VH1 in '09 - the highest placement by a solo artist on the list.  

Now...GUESS WHO'S FINALLY MANAGED TO HELM YET ANOTHER NES-INSPIRED REARRANGEMENT OF IT!!

After 1/4 of a century, who could forget that opening sequence...let alone one of its supporting stage themes?!  Hailing from one of the most controversial VS fighters rivaling even WB / Netherrealm Studios / the ill-fated Midway's ever-popular MK franchise....except this was by the once-great-but-long-since-buried Atari, here's my usual NES tribute to Sauron's 'Red Beach' stage - featuring cues from its Genesis (the one I'm the most familiar with amongst many other ports) and CD soundtrack, "All the Rage".

Primal Rage - "Beachin' (Sauron's Theme)" (NES Version)

From their 7th studio album circa 1990, 'Violator' - this classic DEPECHE MODE ballad was first recorded 3 decades ago prior to the fact, thanks to its legendary songwriter's (Gore) initial, ballad-like version which was reworked into the finalized uptempo version at the whim of its then-backup vocalist/keyboardist (Wilder).

Hailing from this legendary 4-piece emo/punk rock band's 6th studio album, 'Sing the Sorrow', from over a decade and a half - this is also featured as a playable track in Harmonix's Rock Band 2 & Guitar Hero 5 / Live, as well as in the ill-fated Tapulous' Tap Tap Revenge.  Now - as ever - hear it like you've never heard it before...MINUS ALL THAT FAKE-ASS "GXSCC" CRAP!!
