With a sound and style that begets immediate recognition, Primate originally emerged with a design palette that felt honed in beyond its years, presenting a catalog of exceptionally avant-garde electronic music right out of the gate. As such, we’ve proudly hosted his work on numerous occasions, and are just as excited to debut his latest experiments on the Tortuous EP.

The absolute first hallmark of any Primate production is his bombastic percussive arrangement; be it rising swells, crashing climaxes, or veritable rhythmic bridges, his drum shaping and programming across the entire EP is both on par with his sonic aesthetic and a step above previous releases. The liquid-soul underbelly of each track acts as an anchor for daring runs of low-end synthesis, mingling the playbook of improvisational jazz with his own brand of space-aged synthesis. It’s a masterclass in phrasing, pacing, and evolution across compositions, bringing breaks, glitch, and instrumental dialogue to the same table. Forged in the frozen food aisle and inspired by Sub-Zero’s grip, “Ice Cold” channels glacial 2-step and frosty low-end pressure built for tiled floors and security camera footage. Rumour has it this one was sculpted during a shift change behind the Eaton Centre’s food court, just steps from the Cinnabon. Sharp, slick, and deadly calm, it’s the sound of two producers plotting their mall gig breakthrough. Cold today, but something venomous is stirring just beyond the heat lamps.

Data B makes his full Codename: RCRDS debut with 'Deep Reflections EP', which provides a stunning showcase of this rising producers talents.

The EP opens with 'Elsewhere', a euphoric collaboration with label co-owner Moakz with spine-tingling pads and soaring leads entwined with rolling breaks and bass for a superb opener. The EP continues with the deep liquid roller 'Wakeup', full of crisp drums and chopped vocals, before moving into the glacial-tinged beauty of 'Change Your Mind'. This echoes the work of masters such as LSB with its introspective vocals, stunning strings and plucked guitars. The release then switches into another direction to close the EP for the crusty breaks and eerie vocals of the rolling 'Broken Window'.

Bursting onto the scene with an appetite for the psychedelic, Alien Speak is the stellar first release from Sylph, the musical alias of Emily Thaler. Based out of New York City, she has spent the last several years quietly expanding upon her production, composition, and engineering knowledge. The producer’s patience has paid off with a musical bounty worth it's weight in sub bass. Drawing from the font of psybient influence, each of the four tracks is a boisterous dance of pulsating frequencies. Glitchy harmonies and high-processed synthesis turn each moment into a downtempo tango between the visceral and the effervescent. With an obvious inclination towards arrangement and general musicality, the EP is a testament to an intrepid work ethic. In late 2015, A Path Untold (Daniel Merrill) released his debut album under the project, Secret Subtle Light. Crafted over the course of two years, this seminal album created a strong signature statement of the multi-genre, multi-dimensional sound that is A Path Untold. Focused on melody, texture, off kilter grooves and emotional nuance, it fluidly explored the genre spectrum, weaving through various styles and structures of future garage, deep house, ambient, idm and world music. Conceptually it explored themes of self discovery, light within darkness, numinous experience, secrets, and the process of inward/outward illumination. The album was received to great underground acclaim and inspired listeners and producers from across the globe with its distinct vision.

Aquatic Collective is now proud to present A Path Untold - The Secret Subtle Light Remixes, a collection of reinterpretations by a variety of uniquely talented producers who represent a multitude of styles and approaches. Ranging from dance-able neuro-garage, deep mystical dubstep, soulful drum n’ bass rollers and introspective ambient, this release explores an aesthetic that stays in line with the original ethos. With artists Mystic State, Dillard, Aphasia, Oudjat., Shamanic Technology, Hajimari, & High Dude - the diversity of styles and genres remains intact.

The entirety of sales from the album will go towards purchasing a new boat for the [Payaguaje] lineage of the Secoya tribe in Ecuador, helping to lead efforts in reuniting families with their ancestral lands Lagarto Cocha]. This region is an area of flooded forest, shoreless lakes and vast sunsets and is the ancestral home of the indigenous peoples of the Secoya tribe.

"Today there are 600 Secoya in Ecuador, and 900 in Peru. Over the last 50 years ongoing external pressures have resulted in the Ecuadorian Secoya being reduced to living in a small area of land on the Aguarico River, a day’s travel upriver from Lagarto Cocha. Their communities and farmlands are surrounded by palm-oil plantations, oil and gas operations, and communities of colonists and other indigenous people who have recently moved into the area.”

"Despite the passing of time and the distance from their current communities, the Secoya still consider the area their spiritual and ancestral heartland. They continue to visit Lagarto Cocha annually, as a way of reaffirming their identity and connection with their ancestors, and to collect various resources. The unique ecosystem of Lagarto Cocha means that there are many plants and animals found there that the Secoya can not find on the River Aguarico. The expanding agricultural and oil operations have also degraded and contaminated the land and waters around the Secoya villages reducing the quantity and quality of available resources."

Succeeding the release of Desert Dwellers’ monumental Breath album, Amani and Treavor continue their patronage to cultural celebration and musical heritage with Breath Reimagined Vol. 1. Featuring an abundance of new-comers to the Desert Dwellers sound, this inaugural volume shall precede a trilogy of remix albums to come from the ingenious duo. Throughout Breath Reimagined, 14 brilliant producers within the psychedelic and world-fusion communities exhibit 14 euphonious recreations, each derived from one of the original 10 tracks.

Falling into an altered state of consciousness, Halfred recreates “Dreams Within a Dream” with dub bestrewn over alluring instrumentals. Once you leave your meditative state, Nanosphere merges seductive instrumentation with funky low frequencies as we continue “Traversing the Endless Road.” Forging ahead, Gumi guides you through a turbulent wind of dynamic and atmospheric beats in “Closed Eyes in a Dust Storm.” Traveling by foot, you discover the “One That Shows The Way” through MantisMash’s sonorous synths and Somatoast’s soprano rendition. 

As you begin “Longing For Home,” DISSØLV raises the original downtempo piece an octave higher to create a sonic soundscape while Mindex incorporates elements of glitch. Mumukshu reinvents the original global folk “At Last, Our Refugee” track into a resounding four-minute bass voyage that overlays an accelerated tribal trap foundation. “Praise Her, the Fire Keeper” receives reimaginations from Pitch Black, who adds a bass backdrop to the tranquil piece, and TRIBONE, who takes the composition underground. As listeners continue to explore the “Realms of Splendor,” DRRTYWULVZ commences a series of bass undertones as metal continuously rattles together in Erothyme’s recreation. Globular’s Vicious Ether Remix of “To Be the Air” fosters an upbeat environment for the buoyant acoustic atmosphere. Compelling you back into deep meditation as Breath Reimagined concludes, Bluetech’s Berlin School Mix introduces Holotropic Breathwork to “Breathing the Mysteries.”

“Aurolac” is the second single from Rumpistol's upcoming sixth album “After the Flood”, out October 23rd on ØEN REC.

The track and the album as a whole represents a significant creative shift towards a more classical and analogue sound partly due to Rumpistol suffering a stress-related burnout, which forced him to work in a completely new, minimalistic manner away from computer screens.

Rumpistol says about the track:

"I wrote the track after watching a documentary about a homeless community living underground in Bucharest, Romania. 
It left me with a feeling of despair, deeply touched by seeing
the fates of the young kids living there, most of them addicted to the cheap industrial Aurolac paint which they use as an inhalant."
