For the concept of this mix I wanted to put together a selection of tracks inspired by some of my favourite moments on the dance floor this year. Those times when the night stretches into early morning, and the energy is electric, yet the atmosphere is mystical and dark.

For the mix I tried to focus on the stripped back low-end driven sides of trance and progressive music, hopefully capturing the energy and atmosphere of those memorable sections of club nights.

As the mix unfolds, there's a progression in energy to play on being drawn deeper into those nights where you can feel that building sense of liveliness and anticipation.

@subsystem-transmissions and @sustain-release-nyc look incredible

Unfortunately Dublin’s party scene is fairly limited because of the laws around opening hours which are hopefully changing soon, but I really like what @the_solace_space are doing as a party and a collective 

+ 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐉 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐮𝐩?

Wasn’t a club experience but it would have to be @draaimolen this year, it was something very special to witness and I was riding a high after it for weeks

+ 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲?
Needs to have a crispy and punchy sound system, then some trippy minimal lighting, an energetic crowd with lots of space and probably somewhere in nature like a forest or a mountain range 

+ 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧?
How friendly everyone is, I didn’t realise this until someone mentioned it to me recently, but after doing a bit of travelling and thinking about it Dublin does have a special way about it when it comes to the people. There’s warmness and friendliness you experience on a night out that’s hard to find anywhere else

The vocals of Paranoid London's "Paris Dub 1" over Mr. G's "Let Down (Badly)" – they complement each other perfectly.

In their own words; I wanted my instalment of Liquid Joy to be a concept mix, so this is an hour-long sonic storytelling of the life cycle of water. Starting with rain falling from the sky, the selections in the first half take you on the journey of joining and becoming one with the ocean, travelling to its deepest depths and eventually rising back to the surface, through the lens of spoken word, progressive, dubstep, bass and experimental. The 2nd half illustrates the process of evaporation, becoming one with the air and atmosphere and climbing ever higher to the sun via house, progressive, some gloriously bright 90s techno and heavenly doses of trance 💫

SMUT Press is delighted to present our 25th mix by the incredible Mercorn.  A deep love of hard house, prog and trance form the backbone of her sound, where these styles fuelled Ireland throughout its formative 90’s rave heyday, Mercorn’s sound is characterised by the soaring basslines and giddy snare rolls from that era and her careful selection always cultivates an unmatched fizzing, brimming energy. Offsetting the brisk winter days this mix was influenced by the sound of hot sexy summer and captures her signature euphoric energy. Expect deep percussive riffs and fab vocals, this is one that will keep you coming back for more! 

Mercorn is a Dublin-based dj and a lifetime member of the rave. She trades exclusively in dancefloor transcendence who embodies the psychedelic lifeblood of Irish rave history through her joyous selections, vivacious spirit and also as a member of collectives Tender and Skin&Blister.  Over the last few years her rise has been steadily building with notable attention around the UK and Europe from some of London’s most celebrated queer parties such as Adonis at The Cause, Big Dyke Energy at Venue MOT and Fast & Bi-Furious at Dalston Superstore while also at home in some of Ireland’s best clubs such as Yamamori Tengu, Wigwam, Index. Mixes for Haŵs and Proxima further her impressive cause. Aside from djing, Mercorn is an active community builder in her hometown of Dublin. This is most prevalent in her membership of collectives Skin&Blister and Tender. Both collectives have been instrumental in diversifying Ireland’s music landscape in both clubs and at festivals.  She is also a pioneering independent designer with her MNW Design business, individually handcrafting each item of clothing she sells.

131bpm is a dance-floor trouble maker.

Constantly evolving musically, he is making a name for himself as a DJ and producer known for his signature booty boppin’ and back breaking rhythms. Influenced by various electronic music sub-genres like vocal house, Detroit classic electro-breaks, 90s progressive and Latin music, his sets are always sweaty and sexy, scattered with catchy basslines, nasty vocals and bouncy percussions.

He became a resident at the party Vitamina in Milan in 2018 and recently released his first album in August 2023 on Body Language’s label -party in Berlin where he is also a resident playing regularly since 2022.
